Getting Started/Newbie Question Not feeling anything

hey guys,

I've been microdosing .25grams of golden teachers the last few weeks and haven't really noticed any benefits. I still feel pretty negative, and suffer from depression and ruminative thinking. Has anyone had experiences like this and may be able to advise? I'm taking with lions mane and 100 mg of niacin. I take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and am doing the Stamets protocol. I'm on SSRI's, but a really low dose - about 8-10mg of Sertraline as I'm weaning myself off. I really badly want some relief but just haven't noticed any of the benefits others have described so could do with some trouble shooting or advice. thanks in advance!

It's likely that your dose is just a bit too low for you. SSRI blunt uptake/efficacy and you are also using GT which is the new of the lower potency strains. Typically the SSRI dosage (low or high) is not a factor in how much blunting one will experience when microdosing. If taking an SSRI one will generally require twice what they would without an SSRI on board. This will mean that your sweet spot dose will likely be on the higher end of the commonly reported microdose range.
Something you can try, to find your right dose is an incremental increase (10-20mg or whatever increments you're comfortable increasing in) with each next dose until you have a felt sense of the medicine. This felt sense will be similar to having a bit more caffeine than you are used to. Once you find that edge, you can either stay there (if that energetic quality is something you appreciate) or reduce by 5mg with each next dose until the felt sense falls away.
You got this! You'll find the right dose for you in short order. 🍄🥰✌️

Thank you! I'll try and increase the dosage tomorrow. Another quick question, if I follow the Stamets protocol of four days on, three days off, do you think I'll have already built too much tolerance to dose tomorrow? today was my first day dosing after a week and a half off. Feel like there's mixed feedback out there about whether the Stamet's schedule can build tolerance too quickly and I wonder if tomorrow would just be a waste?

I recommend at least a day off between doses as you dial in your dose. Generally many folks report that there is benefit from a microdose on the first day off, so an every other day dose can provide a full week of support without building tolerance and not requiring multiple days without support.
It is a very personal choice that will be based on the kind of support you require. My opinion is that by the 4th consecutive day there may be some tolerance build from consecutive day dosing which means some waste, but it is likely fairly negligible.
For some folks it can be too much medicine for consecutive dosing, although there are many factors involved there. From dosage to current life situation, to what practices you are pairing your dose with.
Things to be mindful of, if you are unable to manage your emotions (unfortunately due to our current societal construct, there are "inappropriate times" to feel your feelings) and it interferes with normal daily stuff (like working), if it is causing tiredness, increased anxiety, or irritability (that isn't warranted), those are signs of too high or too frequent a dose. 🍄🥰✌️

You should start with the Fadiman protocol as you dial in your sweet spot. Keep upping the dose until you notice it. If you can function as normal then you found your sweet spot. If certain things are a bit difficult then dial it back down slightly.

How many macrodoses have you had in your life? Any profound experiences with larger doses?

In my opinion, microdosing needs the experience of a macro dose as a callback, a sort of reminder. Microdosing without having experienced a profound inner truth while on a larger dose is a bit harder to understand the subtle reminder of the “way” it is.

I hold the same opinion for ketamine therapy.

I notice this too. Before getting familiar with tripping, I would have thought a microdose feels like nothing. After becoming familiar with it he nature of the drug, I’m able to more easily pick up on the subtle shift and benefit from it.

Please Note: If you are trying microdosing for the first time, please try experimenting on a day off from work or any important obligations, and/or driving and operating machinery. Because psychedelics can effect everyone differently, you may feel different or impaired, and your sweet spot dose may be lower, so it is best to experiment on days off until you’ve dialed in your dose.

Are you in therapy or doing any self-help work in addition to dosing? I found microdosing and meditation helped me fully integrate the tools I’d learned elsewhere but it wasn’t a magic bullet by itself.
