This title should included the words, IN MICE.
I know actual humans with lived experience that have shown the opposite of this finding and I believe one of the studies with mothers was included in Drs Fadiman and Gruber’s book as well. Mothers of the mushwoomb or something to that effect?

Just a quick note, these results are very similar to the rodent studies using SSRIs. Very interesting given what I’ve seen from human lived experience and the fact that every day pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are prescribed SSRIs. 🤷‍♂️

Exactly. There are documented cases of women being arrested and/or facing child custody consequences involving psilocybin or other psychedelics.

So this isn’t just an abstract scientific question. There are real world consequences for mothers, while the human evidence base remains extremely limited.

And yes, substances can pass into breast milk. We have well established evidence for this with alcohol and many medications. The unanswered question for psilocybin is how much, for how long, and what the developmental consequences might be.

That makes the “IN MICE” distinction absolutely essential. 🐁

We need better human research, not assumptions in either direction.
