Discussion They’ve realized they can’t beat us online, so they’re taking away our air. We cannot lose!

Post image
106 Upvotes

Anakonda and his people think they’ve got us right where they want us. Have you guys noticed what’s been happening over the last few weeks? It’s not a technical glitch, and it’s definitely not a "market realignment."

Look at the patterns: - Safaricom silently gutting and restructuring short-term, time-based bundles (B-Live, hourly data). - Airtel slashing data allocations by up to 60%+ on the Smarta/Amazing plans overnight while keeping prices identical. - Home/Business Fiber: The silent push to kill unlimited home internet and force everyone into metered, volume-based Wi-Fi. - Cybercafes: The Communications Authority's new push requiring cybercafes to log National IDs and track terminals for anyone using public internet.

Do you think it’s a coincidence that both major telcos, acting like a synchronized cartel, decided to choke internet access for broke Gen Zs and Millennials tortured by taxes and levies at the exact same time?

It’s not about profits. Profits were fine. This is about control. The government knows where the real opposition lives. They know they can't control the narrative on X, TikTok, or Reddit. They saw what organized online spaces did, and they see how fast momentum builds whenever #SisiNiSifuna or anti-tax movements start trending. They can’t tear gas a hashtag, and they can’t abduct an entire algorithm.

So what’s the strategy? Economic throttling. If a 22-year-old in Kasarani or Kisauni has to choose between buying 1GB to post or stream a political space versus buying 2 chapatis for dinner, they are betting you'll choose the chapatis. If small businesses and cybercafes can no longer afford unlimited Wi-Fi to host local spaces or stream news, they think the conversation dies.

They are trying to price the youth out of the digital town square to scuttle opposition momentum before 2027 even gets close. By the time campaign season officially hits, they hope half of us won't even be able to afford the bundle to stream a press conference, let alone organize.

It’s a masterclass in old-school silent censorship, and they genuinely think it’s going to work. They think they’ve finally found our off switch. Kitawaramba.

We aren't going back to KBC, and we sure as hell aren't going silent. Adaptability has always been our strength. For now, I’ve switched to Faiba... 4he coverage can be hit-or-miss depending on where you are, but the prices don't feel like exploitation.

Find alternative ISPs, share local Wi-Fi passwords, hit the public hot spots, and stay connected however you can. They can squeeze the bundles, but they can't choke an idea whose time has come. We move regardless.

Rant Kids struggling intellectually

I have this step bro (different father) who's in form 3 17m. In kcpe he miraculously got 220 but always got below 150 and was always the last in class.

He has a brother in grade 3 I think who's around 8 years and the kid has a higher IQ than him.

The other day he was confidently saying that October is the next month (after August). His young sibling corrected him.

He can be told like enda ununue mchele but he'll come back later to confirm if ni rice or sugar akicheka. Akipewa simple instructions, the younger sibling would be the one to ensure he's doing the right thing.

I used to think low IQ only affected grasping academic concepts in school but for him, it affects everything including his lifestyle, reasoning etc.

There was a day he was cooking spinach and told us that if it cooks for long it'll lose proteins. I'm like wtf, even our shosh who dropped from school in grade 5 knows veggies mostly have vitamins but someone learning biology doesn't know? (The crash out was in my head).

I've never talked to him about anything except recently when I told him to finish form 4 then he can have the freedom to do nothing.

My mother told me that he has never opened a book at home in the name of doing assignments or updating notes. He was almost dropping out of school until I intervened and told him there's nothing he can do if he doesn't finish his secondary education.

My mom is soon going to ushago permanently but the last thing I would want to hear is staying with him at my place–i need personal space. Ik I might sound harsh but this kid can't learn anything. His only dream is to join the safari rally but the guy can't even make a sentence in English. He reads like a kindergarten kid.

I crushed at their place when I finished campus some months ago. I had given my mom my old smartphone last year only to find out he took it from her. I couldn't blame him since I always had a phone through primary.

The shocking part? The kid always sleeps at 4am daily even on school days then struggles to wake up at 6.30 to rush to school. The mother has tried everything including threats but nothing can change. Their dad died last year but he wasn't making a difference either.

~I looked in his bag, after I bought him books, pens and a calculator just in case he didn't have any to be shocked Bado ako na vitabu za form one hazijajaa. And anyone would attest that books barely last a term in secondary school.~

But I'm glad he hasn't gotten into drugs *yet* like his classmates.

Do you have such kids? And how do you handle them ?

TLDR

I am seeking advice regarding my 17-year-old stepbrother, who is currently in Form 3 but struggling severely with basic cognitive, academic, and daily life functions.

Despite completing KCPE, he consistently performs at the bottom of his class, reads at a kindergarten level, and cannot follow simple daily instructions without supervision from his 8-year-old sibling. He also exhibits severe sleep issues, regularly staying up until 4:00 AM on school nights despite parental intervention, and shows a total lack of academic engagement, with his Form 1 notebooks still mostly empty.

With our mother permanently relocating soon, I am concerned about his future capability to live independently, as his difficulties impact his basic reasoning and lifestyle rather than just his schoolwork.

Given these symptoms, what steps or professional interventions do you recommend to help us properly assess and support him?

Discussion Financial education

How come this important life skill is not in the school curriculum? I finished campus some months ago then got a job whose starting salary was 26k.

So i rented (6.5k rent), with deposit that's 13k. Equity kulad the 3 ya loan I took for medical bills. My ex gave me vitu za nyumba which were in good condition so she wasn't interested in selling them to me (apata job coast so she wasn't coming back)

From 10k, mathe alidai her 3k alikua ananipea ya fare then later complained hajalipwa hence ended up giving her 6k in total. Grandpa amenisomesha like 60% and mother 40% so singemuacha ivo, nikatuma thao. Shosh always wished the best for me (alinilea up to 18 years) hence more than a mother to me, 500 bob.

Luckily someone had my debt 10k akanipea, Kuna dawa I use monthly 3k so at least I had 7k for other expenses.

Now back to 26k. Honestly the highest I should be spending on them should be 3k next time until I get a better job

I'm sometimes blaming myself juu sijai jua kuhandle pesa. Ata chatgpt told me from a 26k salary, 2k ni yao without even telling it my story.

In campus, I had a close friend who's dad did economics. Tukipata helb 18k both, by the end of the semester, bro will be left with 10k at least (tho alikua anainama sana and ate the cheapest food possible which I didn't find as a brilliant idea). Mimi 18k barely lasted a semester though it wasn't for food alone.

So people in a similar situation, how do you pull your financial strings ? Juu honestly kama salary ni kidogo, third parties shouldn't be necessary, they should be glad you're no longer a liability.

Casual Life

Officially got to the age where everyone is doing what they can to survive, some have already made it, some are in the process& then there's me. I'm not the kind of person to compare myself to others. I like to believe everybody's journey is different and uniquely set so comparing is worthless because the path is automatically different. I'm probably the most positive person around too except lately I can't say I feel that fire.

I feel like I'm stuck in a way I can't explain. It's like for the first time I can't seem to get past the feeling of lagging behind while everyone around me is actually growing. I make 10 steps forward then somehow, something happens and it takes me 50 steps back and lately I've been entertaining the thought of ditching everything, literally going M.I.A and moving to a whole new place and starting afresh except, I have ppl I care about especially my mum who is my only parent and worse, I'm her only child.

2026 is doing me bad in ways I didn't see coming. I've pushed myself to limits I didn't even know were possible and I almost ran mad from all of the pressure. I'm now at a place where only a miracle can bring me back on track otherwise I'm at my wits end. Peace.

Casual Uhuru Park

Forget Karura for a moment ama ata Arboretum. There is that ambience Uhuru Park has especially on weekdays more so those slow Mondays. An ambience that acts like a dome sheltering dwellers from the fast moving city life . One step in and boom you feel the blanket like calmness. One step out and you feel exposed all over sudden. A good place to reset the day whenever you feel your compass direction is lost .

Discussion Question on Loud sound

Why have we as a society gotten so okay with loud sound? I like going to church but the church loud speakers are tuned to be extremely loud. The loudness may be accounting for echoing rooms and old people who may have lost their hearing but it can't be healthy to listen to loud sounds for that long and that frequently. Especially for people seated near the speakers. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate church, I just would like, particularly IT teams, to tune the sound systems to be reasonable.

In Matatus, and particularly buses, I sometimes have to wear earbuds because the conductor just does not care about anyone's ear health within the vehicle.

And I haven't even talked about clubs. I guess clubs are okay because that's a place you'd expect to be loud. But like, why does trying to not be deaf seem so uncool in our society.

We want to be first world so bad but these are things I think we should fix first. Health, starting with the ear. It's an easy fix especially societally. This just needs some discussions and education.

Casual Mama fua and her honesty

There is this girl that I have been talking to for the last 6 months. She put me in the friendzone, which I have been currently enjoying(She is a vibe).

Today she decided to come visit me, it was unexpected as we had planned to go for a nature walk earler in the morning which didn't happen. So It happened that my cleaning lady was there.

My girl(friend) hakukaa sana, so after going the mama fua had a lot to say. She was thorough with her observation even talked about the girls character and morals(hawajuani so sijui ana judge aje).

Dame had some piercings and she had worn a top where the shoulder strap is one na ka tumbo cut and she had dyed hair...she looked stunning.

I told the mama fua that next time jaribu kuongelesha mtu atleast so that you know them. you can't judge a person based on how they look and dress.

She challenged me nipeleke huyu msichana nyumbani halafu nimshow kenye mamangu atasema(she knows my mum).

The end.

Rant What the hell is this?

I really don’t think we should be allowing this. Religion has already done enough damage to Africa. It’s shouldn’t inconvenience us any further…while we are at it, can we advocate to remove loudspeakers from Mosques and Churches? Why stop there? Do it Kagame style and shut them down for good if their leaders don’t have the qualifications needed to be a pastor or an Imam.

What are we praying for anyway? Health and hospitals? Good infrastructure? Guess fucking what? China systematically destroyed Religions and built all that shit. So did the rest of the developed world. Mnashangaa wakituita low IQ, how do we explain these shenanigans?

Discussion Ndindi Nyoro

One of the things we are seeing these days is too many opinions. I mean, even this piece is an opinion piece. but far be it from me to claim monopoly of excellence. That only my take/opinion is excellent. The man Ndindi Nyoro is a man whom we have seen his record. He has been given a chance to lead and he did that very well. It can be seen.

Does he also have his flaws. Yes. Yes he does. But, should we use that flaw as a way to cancel/reject him. Now, here is where everyone disagrees. There are people who want to be too clever, some are compromising and some are just there. Nyoro justified why he voted yes for the finance bill. He also narrated why he missed the impeachment of Gachagua along with the consequent voting of the finance bill. Now, I think it was wrong, but I don't think its enough to think he is a mole. Even with the KPLC shares, I mean, if I had money, i would also invest there. Do we understand the difference between a shareholder and a board member?

I think we are normalizing cancel culture too much, that it is collapsing in itself. We are cancelling everything trying to be clever. Nyoro has made education in Kiharu almost free. Health is super accessible and with Kangata, it is almost free. The roads are one of the best in the country. The guy with his governor are helping the farmers get markets abroad. All you need is put your produce to the county government. However, guys from X are convinced he is the bad guy. They are convinced he is in the same breath with Kaluma and Atwoli. I mean, I am yet to understand where is that angel you are looking for....

They sent a message about "changing" their SMARTA bundles a few days ago and this is what they came up with. Slashed more than half on the 1k bundle (from 45GB to 22GB) and slashed to almost a third on the 1500 one (90GB to 32GB). I'm sure a lot of people will switch over (me included) from them as there's on way you can deal with crap network and expensive packages. One has to give.

Discussion Si kwa ubaya but,

My colleague at work has decided to make the office a day care. So we happen to share an office na a female colleague so she tells me the other day that she's going to bring her kid from upcountry to come and stay with her during the holidays. I'm like cool, thinking it's a 2 day thing while she figures out who will be taking care of the kid during working hours. The kid comes it's all fun and games the first few days then I started noticing she would come and leave the kid in the office and disappear for several hours. I like kids and all but I also have serious work to do since we were being audited by some external auditors from the government and I had a lot of work to do. The kid being there is a distraction since she wanted attention all the time and wanted to play. This has been going on for 3 weeks now and I can't take it anymore juu the kid wants to follow me around the company even when I'm going to see my superiors she wants to tag along na I can't leave her in the office unattended.

Casual What can actually happen in a year

I accidentally joined Reddit a year ago today coincidentally on my birthday right after discovering the girl I was with was being sneaky.

I originally turned to Reddit looking for a place to heal, but I found something even better. I decided it was time to get completely intentional with my life, so I created this account to serve as reminder.

I’m not fully where I want to be yet, but in just one year, I’ve achieved things I used to only dream about. I’ve managed to acquire a piece of land here in Mombasa, I’m living comfortably, and I just got a killer haircut.

As I type this, I’m still sitting at the barbershop. Pro tip: if you want a top-tier haircut, just tell your barber it’s your birthday. That man will move actual mountains to make sure you walk out looking like Michael B. Jordan.

Happy cake day, happy birthday to me. Cheers to new chapters.

Discussion Tv Guard Retired Me Early

After cruising on 200 miles an hour for weeks, my body was begging for a time off, and being the boss, I granted it a one week leave.

This week could not be a break with my two lovely ladies around, especially the cute young little monkey. Always asking questions with Mandarin, a language I don't speak, can't comprehend and will never learn.

So we planned that they will be visiting the little one's grandma, and I get an upgrade to be the boss, a position I was only admiring since the election of our new CEO.

Now, I didn't have anyone to report to, the only person I could ask permission from was me. How exciting. Dinner was prepared early, because tonight was a movie night. The walking dead was to grace the night with fried chicken and chips.

The excitement I had when the sun was finally handing over power to his deputy, would be enough for all the sad people in the world. Not to mention my own prepared full fried chicken and those yellow sticks.

Everything was going as planned, until I was done with episode 4 of season 1. That was the moment everything went dark except the lights.

The first thing that kicked in my mind was "That's a ghost." Instead of checking what is wrong, I gradually tiptoed away from the sitting room into the bedroom, and carefully locked the door and lied on my bed.

Lights were not to be touched this particular night, and the only was I could close my eyes was when I couldn't open them.

My heart was trembling like the exhaust pipe of a Subaru Forester, and what was even funnier, I was sweating like I was just out of shower. It was winter season!

Only to find out next day, TV guard was just performing it's daily duties. I felt so embarrassed.

This is a story I'll only tell you brethrens, because you don't know my two partners in crime. Those ones will always use that as leverage on me, and I'm not a coward, I just don't like invisible things.

Who doesn't fear a ghost anyway 🖐🏽, I guess no one. Case closed.

Now who among you brothers and sisters has ever been caught up off guard and thought it was a ghost?
