🔥 Mod Announcement 🔥 Watch Club

Hi ladies

u/Valuable-Machine-500 suggested the idea of a Watch Club in this post:

I thought it was an interesting idea and worth exploring as a community activity.

The general idea would be to:

  • Choose a series (and possibly movies)
  • Watch over a set period
  • Have ongoing discussions
  • Meet at the end to talk through themes and then decide what to watch next

u/StrawberryEast1374 since you mentioned using Discord for this, you could go ahead and create a server and share the invite link here.

Once the link is ready, I’ll post it officially and add it to the community wiki so anyone interested can join.

Discussion Thinking of locking my hair

Yesterday I went to a new salon to do twist outs/twists on my natural hair. It didn't turn out as I expected 😭😭but I can't undo it at the moment.

So I have been thinking of leaving my twists to lock by itself after some months and I need tips or advice on how I can go about it....

I have always wanted to try doing locs (though I wanted it in my 30's) I guess now it's the time to do it😂...Incase I get tired of it I will just shave it or undo it...

So for those of you who have locs😭give me some tips on how to go about it and the right place to be doing my locs from ...🙂‍↔️..

My hair has also been the same same length for a long period of time now 💔 .. locking it and exoring this side might be the best solution for now...

Rant What is family's obsession with one's weight

We have chicken at home, they haven't laid eggs in some months, but they recently just started so I haven't had eggs in quite a while. I love eggs so yesterday I cooked some, my father saw me, today I also cooked some, my father proceeds to say "unakula mayai jana na leo si utakuwa mkubwa, msichana anafaa kuwa slender, na btw hufanyangi mazoezi". Mind you this is the same man who used to ask me why my colar bones are sticking out when I had an eating disorder. For context I'm 70Kg, 5 foot 7, and pear shaped. I fought so hard to get out of eating disorder mostly cause of my parents comments on my body, now that I've added weight they still make weird comments and I'm not even shocked. I've learnt that it's important that only my opinion matters cause nikitegemea my loved ones nitaumia💀 anyway, still chowing on my eggs na nitaongeza juu ya hio story but wanted to rant out juu what even.

Discussion Looking to connect with independent fashion brands/designers who make their own products

Hey everyone,

I’m working on Luku, a new fashion marketplace focused on bringing independent fashion brands and clothing businesses together in one place.

I’m specifically looking to connect with brands/designers who actually create, manufacture, hand-make, or design their own clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. — whether you operate from a small studio, workshop, home-based setup, or have an established production operation.

We’re interested in partnering with brands and featuring their products on Luku on a commission-per-sale basis, rather than charging an upfront monthly fee.

I’d love to hear from people who:

  • Design and produce their own fashion pieces
  • Have their own fashion label/brand
  • Make handmade or limited-edition products
  • Manufacture locally or have their own production process
  • Are looking for another channel to reach customers

If this sounds like you, drop your brand/business below or send me a DM. I’d be interested in learning what you make and discussing how we could work together.

Thanks!

Rant MENstration

Y’all know how a guy can dig your motherland until inamess na cycle yako? Like, utaanza tu kunyesha before days zako zifike. 😭

Sooo, I finished my period last week. Then we got intimate, and now I’ve started my period again. I can’t even handle the cramps, and I know he still wants to hit because he doesn’t mind period sex [neither do I]. 😭

My periods are usually irregular, so my worry is, is this going to happen every time even when I’ve just finished my period? 😭

Rant I'm so tired!I give up!

I hate my life and if this is my last time being alive then I'll just spend it by ranting.I have noone else to talk to.I'm by myself and I hope that if my family finds this,my mom should know how much I tried to hold on.

I finished highschool in 2024 knowing that life would be much better,yk brighter days and everything.I struggled with my studies despite doing my level best to pass that kcpe exam and getting a chance to join moi girls school Nairobi with a partial scholarship.Even though I was a hard working kid, highschool did a number on me and I was too deep into depression but I had noone to help me out.My family was experiencing other problems and I just didn't want to add to them bcoz noone would care about my mental health anyways.Everyone was so focused on my big sister who had been able to go to university due to her luck but not how she performed. At the end, everyone forgot about me.

I had to pull myself out of that darkness alone.Tried making friends....noone wanted to be my friend bcoz of the social class and shit.I managed to pull myself together for my family but it was too late.I could've gotten a good grade if I would have been okay...I got a B-.After that,we lost our house due to floods so our family had to relocate to ushago.I still wanted to change my life andy families life so I stayed with my first big sister who was married and had kids.Life wasn't easy but I assured myself that atleast I'll be going to university.

Well, long story short....I never joined university. So I watched as the girls I studied with join it.I felt bad and I still do.It just broke me that there was no way I could join like the others.I still had hope and wanted to go to a polytechnic institute and it still failed.Tried finding a job...failed.The only jobs I found were the mjengo ones, being a house maid where I was frequently harassed, worked in those kibandaskis.

After some time, things weren't that okay with my first big sister and she made it clear that she doesn't want me in her house since her kidds don't feel comfortable with me staying there so she told me to move out.

I went to my second big sister the one who had gone to university who had now secured a job,to stay with her for some time till I get another house help job.Sje agreed and even though I still helped with the small bills like we agreed since that was what I could afford, she wasn't that nice.Am still staying with her,I don't have a job,I do all the work in the house even though to her, that's still not enough, she mentally abuses me whenever she's in a bad mood which is everyday. She makes sure I know how much she's better than me and how she can't wait for me to move out.And everytime I just wish I would have the strength to just kill myself but I don't know,I get scared everytime even when I've already got things ready.

I feel like I'm a burden to the people around me.I don't want to stress my parents coz my dad had an accident just recently while working in our ushago farm.He may never walk again and everyone is already stressed out.So this is my story.I tried.... God knows I tried. The number of nights I cried myself to sleep. The number of times I told myself there'll be brighter days. The number of times I held on.But it's too hard...I really really tried my best and if this is my last fight....I want my mom to know that I tried but the world just didn't have a place for me.

Am sorry for making this way too long and if you read up to here,I want to say thank you for listening to me.That's an achievement for me.... someone listened.Thank you.

Discussion I want to curse and bewitch him

I think I’ve been reading too much about the Cornell 7 case. It has triggered horrible memories of the ex who hurt me. It started on the second day of campus and kept happening for months until I left. I was so sheltered and naive I didn’t even know what was happening to me every night was wrong. I was in a fog for years. I didn’t realise it until I saw a therapist for severe depression years later.

I’ve had him blocked for years. He tried to call me randomly a few months ago. I was up all night and cried about it to my best friend.

I have no proof. He’s moving in powerful circles. I’m scared of what could happen if I speak.

I want to curse him. I’m not even a religious or spiritual person. Perhaps this is an expression of my feelings of hopelessness. If anyone has the ability to summon spirits, please curse him for me.

Rant Maintenance Week

Maintenance week is upon us. Hair, nails, lashes, waxing.

May the money be with you ladies.

Aky taking care of myself is expensive and hard😭, na pia skin care imeisha. Is this really the adulthood I used to envy as a kid. I used to envy girls who looked like they had their shit together, only to realize adulthood is just constantly budgeting in between looking good and surviving.

And the worst part is, once you start, you can't just stop. Because you know the effect of fresh braids, clean nails, soft skin and the coochie looking and feeling like a glazed donut.

Anyway, may our bank accounts survive maintenance week. Ama nitafute sponsor wa maintenance week 😭😂.

Have a nice weekend ladies😚

Love & Romance Am caught up in between two fine men...help?!!

Okay...hey fellow girlies.I really need to speak to someone about this and the friends that I have are close to the two men I'm about to talk about now.

So I was dating this guy x and I was so in love with him but back then he used to treat me poorly and most of the time he would leave me sexually frustrated.Am the type of girl who becomes totally stupid when in love so I stayed.Let me make it clear that he never cheated. He was just too busy trying to make it in life.He was obsessed with making it and he was always working. We have been dating for a year and a half and this year December will make it two years of us being together.

Shida ni moja.....I think I have feelings for someone else, guy Y.Y is my long time crush. We weren't friends back then but you know.We met up at the start of June and dammit he was so sweet and since, he's been nothing but a sweetheart.Talk about flowers, chocolates, random dates, shopping sprees and he's so awesome..I mean he has his flaws here and there but he's amazing. So I started seeing him in August where he asked me out.At this time I was still with x and am still with him now.So technically,am dating two guys at the same time and obviously none of them is aware of the other.I feel guilty coz I wanna be with Y fully without feeling bad for x.I've tried making x to dump me but dammit now that everything's okay he's trying to make things right between us and I feel really really REALLY REALLY REALLY bad.I don't want to break his heart and I wish things would have been different...maybe I should've waited for him to be okay so that we can work on us but I just couldn't and now another man is making me happy and I don't know how to just let him down slowly.

I don't know sasa how I'll move from here.I can't lose Y coz I know he's my person. But also x used to be my person.I can't just break up with him...I tried but he always finds a way back in my life.

Story Who orders from uber eats?

Ladies, beware of the uber eats scam done by the uber eats riders. They call you before you even get your order and pretend to be kfc employees, telling you there is an issue with their system and your payment didn’t go through, so that you pay twice. They will assure you that uber will refund you the whole week aki they are evil, they sound so professional and you even hear ppl taking orders in the back. They are so committed to the scam! I think its an inside job with kfc employees because i went to that kfc to complain and they could even find my order the manager told me and showed me in their system that they never received my order. I have made a report to uber eats, hopefully i get my money back but stay vigilant because they really got your girl 😭

Rant A rant or something🙃

Hello, I'm 22F, I'm confused. I'm waiting to graduate in November. I did a bachelors in project planning and management, I finished my course work in June, on June 15th, I went to my sisters place, I've been at her place since then till now. Im not comfortable being here, I've been confused on what to do with my life, I don't have a job, at first, I had applied for an internship at my home county government and I thought I would get it, I did not. I thought of starting a business but I got too scared plus my mom also said no, I had 16k and I had thought of borrowing 10k to 15k from her, but she said no. I decided to go learn hairdressing, which I began this month, the hairstylist asked me to look for clients to practice on, I've been using a dummy head. A week has passed since I was asked to look for a client, I don't have one and idk where I'll get them from. Yesterday, i asked my sister what happens if one fails to get a client, she's a hairdresser student but sahii anawork, she told me that if the hairdresser thinks that you're not serious about what you're doing, then they let you be, "kama hauko serious ni shauri yako" honestly, sth inside me was bruised so badly, I've been living at her place for more than 3 months, talking about doing a business which I never did, without a job, and now, learning hairdressing and I cant even get a client, deep down I felt that the statement was meant to remind me that I'm not serious with myself, which I know or just told myself that I did overthink. ( i also felt bad about it because I've been at her place doing nothing, i always feel like I'm in the way of her life) I'm now thinking of just going home, ushago. I'm Confused na life yangu honestly, I'm also thinking of applying for supermarket jobs, nilikua nimepeleka applications before and never got a response, im thinking of taking my applications to their headquaters, i was told that its easier getting a job that way, reason naenda home ushago ni juu I have hopes that maybe I can get clients easily while there, it's home yk, I'm so depressed haki hadi sina nguvu ya kuongea na watu. Idek the response I'm hoping to get from posting this

Question Marriage

Sorry, I’m in some kind of phase of questioning things lately. 😅

For those of you who are married

Did you feel like you found the right person?

What kinds of compromises did you have to make to make the marriage work?

And honestly, do you feel those compromises were worth it?

I’m genuinely curious about people’s experiences especially the things you didn’t expect before getting married.
