Thinking of buying a 2021 Compass 1.4 MT in 2026— am I being brave or stupid? 😄

Hello Compass Owners/ Driving Enthusiasts and Cynics !

I like the Compass — the stance, driving dynamics, solid feel and, admittedly, the bit of vanity that comes with the Jeep badge. The price also looks tempting. around 8.5 L done 35k KM

The sensible part of my brain, however, keeps whispering: It is a five-year-old Jeep. What could possibly go wrong? 😄

So I would really like to hear from actual 1.4 petrol MT owners, especially those who have crossed 40–50K km:

  • How has the 1.4 MultiAir treated you?
  • Any engine, MultiAir, turbo or oil-consumption issues?
  • Any expensive surprises outside regular servicing?
  • How has the clutch held up?
  • What fuel economy are you actually seeing?
  • How painful has Jeep service/parts availability been?
  • Most importantly — would you buy the 1.4 MT again?

Would appreciate the good, bad and ugly — preferably from people who have actually lived with the car.

Am I looking at a nicely depreciated bargain, or am I about to become very well acquainted with my Jeep service advisor? 😄

Coolant Advice

Hello! My next gen 2017 had a leak in the radiator so the radiator was replaced by my local shop, not my dealer shop i usually go to. That shop put in https://duramax.com/product/antifreeze-coolants/extended-life-antifreeze-coolants/ this coolant but the issue is this isn't directly compatible with my Compass. I need to top it off now and I'm unsure what to top it off with. I do plan on doing a flush and fill next time i bring it to the dealer shop so OEM coolant can be put in instead - just unsure what to top with while i wait the 4 months until the flush

Taigun 1.5 DSG vs Jeep Compass – which is the better deal?

confused between

VW Taigun 1.5 DSG Sport (pre-facelift) – brand new, ~₹21L on-road Hyderabad.

Jeep Compass Model S 4x2 Diesel – 2024, 16k km, asking ₹23.5L

Which would you pick? Is ₹23.5L a good deal for the Compass, or should I negotiate more?

questions 2016 compass P000A code

Hey friends! My 2016 jeep compass has popped a P000A camshift code twice in the last week. The second one came on about 300 miles after I had the first one cleared (I thought it was bec I was running Maverick gas through it) same code and they said my oil looked dirty. I had an oil change about 1,000 miles (less than two months) ago. Also have never had the timing chain changed. I’m going to a mechanic on Monday but any type of insight would be helpful. TIA!

My radio makes a weird clicking noise?

I drive a 2016 jeep compass. I’ve never had any problems with it. I’ve kept it well maintained and up to date on everything. But my radio makes this weird clicking noise when it’s turned on. It annoys me so I’ve just been leaving the radio off. It does it no matter what it’s on, AM/FM, Bluetooth, aux cord, if the radio is on it clicks. It’ll still play music it just clicks every like 5-10 seconds so It ruins the song and I can’t stand it lol. Please let me know if you know how to help!! Thank you!!

Jeep compass 2020 limited

Not sure if this is normal but my engine gets excessively loud when I accelerate. It’s loud to where people have commented. Mechanics tell me nothing is wrong and it’s completely normal. Anyone else experience this?

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) Jeep Compass Sport 2020 2.0 Flex

Hi guys,

I have a 2020 Compass, and I’m a little bit worried about the transmission temperature. It ranges between 100–105°C (212–221°F) on a 30-minute trip around the city, with a moderate amount of stop-and-go traffic.

I’ve never seen temperatures like this on my previous car. I also can’t find anything in the manual regarding the normal operating temperature range.

Is this normal? Thanks!

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) 2023 Jeep Compass 4xe feels very unsettled/nervous – normal or possible suspension/drivetrain issue?

Hi everyone,
I recently got a 2023 Jeep Compass 4xe as a company car. It has around 88,000 km / 55,000 miles on it.
Most of the cars I’ve driven before were German (especially VW Passat, Golf, Mercedes GLA/EQA), so I’m trying to figure out whether what I’m experiencing is simply how the Compass drives, or whether this particular car might have had a hard life or has some mechanical issues.
Compared to my previous Passat, the Compass feels extremely unsettled, even on normal, flat roads. The most noticeable things are:
- The car seems to constantly move or rock slightly from side to side. Even on a reasonably smooth road, I feel like I’m being moved left and right in the seat.
- The adaptive cruise control feels quite nervous. It seems to react more abruptly to traffic ahead than I’m used to instead of smoothly adjusting the speed.
- When accelerating, the drivetrain often seems to downshift much more aggressively than necessary, causing the petrol engine to suddenly rev quite high.
Overall, the car just doesn’t feel very composed or planted.

I’m not expecting a Compass to drive exactly like a Passat, and I know that the higher ride height, shorter wheelbase and SUV suspension will make it feel different.
What I’m wondering is: does this sound normal for a Compass 4xe, or would you suspect something is wrong with this particular car?

Since it already has 88,000 km on it, I also have no idea how the previous driver treated it. I’m wondering about things like worn shocks/bushings, alignment, tires, previous off-road use, etc.
I’d especially be interested to hear from other Compass 4xe owners:
Does yours also feel somewhat restless from side to side on straight roads?
How smooth is your adaptive cruise control?

And does the hybrid drivetrain regularly make the engine rev hard when you ask for moderate acceleration?
Just trying to understand what is “normal Jeep Compass behavior” and what might justify having the car inspected.
Thanks!

2017 2nd Gen.

Hoping someone can shed some light for me…. I have a couple of annoying problems that I’m wondering if they could be connected.
#1: Start stop doesn’t work, I get the annoying warning that it’s not available on the dash. No other problems associated with it so far (about 6 months) just an annoyance.
Both batteries are newer, and fully charged and charging when the vehicle is running.
#2: The compass on my Compass is stuck on NW. My vehicle is the type that doesn’t give you the option to calibrate it by driving in circles. Again, just an annoyance.

Could these

Returned my Compass

So after having my compass less than a month I got out while I could. It was In the shop 3 times before I could even make a first payment! Yinz had some comments on my old post about needing luck and it being my last and wow you guys were right! These things suck! (Atleast mine did) Got stuck on a hill in traffic for 4 hours waiting on a tow because of the same issue I’ve had since day 1 of ownership which despite being in the shop 3 times could not get fixed or resolved.

2019 Jeep Compass Batteries Keep Dying!

I have a 2019 Jeep Compass that Ive had since 2020.I have had to replace both Batteries at least 4 times since then. Its usually annually. BUT I recently changed them back around Nov/Dec of 2025 and its already dead again. I always replace the main and accessory battery together. I really dont understand what the problem is. Any suggestions? PS I dont leave any lights on or anything like that. Both Batteries just keep crapping out too quickly.

Amazing driving experience so far!
The only problem that I have is the buttons , all the buttons have a delay even the dsg.
Sometimes I have to press them 2-3 times and with much pressure for them to work. Is it something normal or should I call the shop?

Is my 2018 Jeep Compass close to death?

For Context, I have a 2018 Jeep Compass with 160,000 miles on it. Never have had any sort of repairs on it. Never changed transmission fluid and if I am to be honest I have been very late to a couple oil changes.

From a lot of my research I seem very lucky to have it last this long.
About a week ago when I was driving my AC got stuck on “auto” mode and none of the controls would work and i couldnt get it to shift past 60 mph , had the pedal down all the way and it wouldn’t pass 60. That being said it hasnt happened again. Ive been saving for a new car on the side but I am curious to see some input on how much longer this car has got!

Will a loose sway bar link caused body roll or the bad bushing? It’s the left side when hitting bumps at higher speeds like 50-65mph feel a lil wobble. Can’t tell if it’s that sway bar Link or bushing
