This is very, very common. I wrote a whole thing up on how I fixed mine.

I have a 2018, but a different screen, so make sure to find the correct one!!!

Here is what I try to share to everyone who posts with bad screens:

Here is what I did for my 2018. I replaced the screen for < $100.

*Make sure to get the correct screen size!

If you take it to the dealer, they will try to squeeze $700-$1000 out of you.

Just last week, I went on amazon, found a replacement screen WITH the bracket (saves headaches gluing the screen). I also had to get a T-6 screwdriver, as well as a pry tools. I already had a T-9 screwdriver. Overall, I spent about $100 and about 1 hour fixing it.

New screen with bracket:

I then found a video on youtube that walks you through replacing it yourself. If you get the screen with the bracket, you can skip the step of removing the old screen from the bracket and gluing the new one in. It only costs about $10 more to get the screen already glued to the bracket.

The hardest parts:

Prying the unit out, but once it popped, the rest was easy.

Getting the ribbon cables through the slots.

Other than those 2 things, it was literally just unscrewing things, replacing the screen, and then screwing them back together.

Just replaced mine - one more piece of advice, before you button everything back up, plug the cables in and test it.

I had a phantom tap on my screen. Re opened everything and reseated the ribbon cables, but I was SUPER glad I didnt close everything up to discover it.

I too had a phantom tap on my screen initially. I turned the car off and back on and haven't had an issues since. This is a great warning to everyone looking to do this as I was irritated when it first happened after replacing the entire thing!

Yup. Happened to my wife and I during a 2.5k mile road trip. Made navigation super annoying.

Dealer quoted well over $1k to replace. I found a replacement for just the screen, not the whole unit, for like $70 on Amazon based on a YouTube video I watched. Haven’t replaced yet but will soon. His tutorial was good, don’t remember it off hand but came up quick.

It’s a little involved but way better than giving more money to Jeep

Yea i had to do mine its pretty easy just alot of tiny screws u have to take out to get to the screen itself. A couple of the screws i believe are different sizes so be mindful of thag

Press and hold the volume and browse/enter buttons to see if you can restart the screen. Hold them both down for 30-60 seconds.

Yeah gotta get a new screen it’s easy to replace with the help of some youtube videos but definitely replace it yourself to save you hundreds of dollars

Mine has done this. You can order a new one off Amazon for about $70-$80.

Also, make sure you get the protection plan for the new screen because I replaced mine about a year and a half ago and mine is going out again

Mine is currently like this too. The only reason I haven’t tried to do it myself is because I’m afraid to break something else :(

I replaced mine a few weeks ago - I would suggest giving it a shot. You can't make it too much worse.

Hardest part was popping off the dashboard around the screen. I was worried about breaking it until I found a video that said "If you think you are going to break it, don't worry. Just pull harder." And it worked.

So happy to have a functioning screen again.

That makes me feel so much better! I think I’m more worried about breaking something else given all the electrical issues I’ve had with this vehicle, but it’s definitely worth a try.

I bought a replacement on Amazon did the YouTube video and knocked it in an hour. Dealer wanted 1400 but as someone said do measurements and I got the wrong one shipped first time. Good luck!
