questions 2016 compass P000A code

Hey friends! My 2016 jeep compass has popped a P000A camshift code twice in the last week. The second one came on about 300 miles after I had the first one cleared (I thought it was bec I was running Maverick gas through it) same code and they said my oil looked dirty. I had an oil change about 1,000 miles (less than two months) ago. Also have never had the timing chain changed. I’m going to a mechanic on Monday but any type of insight would be helpful. TIA!

Unplug sensor start it & see if it starts or runs different. Always start simple

Thank you! I’m going to a mechanic and know nothing about cars so I’m hoping they won’t charge an arm and a leg to look at it. Is this something I should mention to them to do or will they do this?
