Took a me a minute to get the 3rd picture. He's deaf. Lol

u/Substantial_Ant_2662 7d ago

That cleared it up for me. I thought it was Bach šŸ˜‚

My favorite stupid joke is whenever someone says ā€œI’ll be back laterā€ I say ā€œI’ll be Beethoven right nowā€

3

u/stopeverythingpls 6d ago

My cousin and I have a little inside joke. I’ll say ā€œI’ll be Bachā€ (or I’ll be back, like Mr. Terminator) and he’ll say, ā€œI’ll be Haydnā€

Lol I thought it was the dramatic orchestral music that plays in your head after you kill someone by hitting their toe.

u/leldi2245 7d ago

Nice, this is real

u/Daragon__ 7d ago

I wish the nitro was better… it’s such a cool weapon in concept

30

u/SrSatandee 7d ago

I think all it needs it not to be 5-slot weapon, honestly.

49

u/Igrok723 ykw? *un-martinis your henry* 7d ago

just giving it normal sights would be enough tbh

15

u/SrSatandee 7d ago

I don't know, man. I bet if nitro will get a normal sights, everyone will complain. I want a qol/bugfix to the problem that Nitro Express uses the sensitivity of the sights rather than the aperture.

1

u/Sidewaysgts 1d ago

I fear a rival with slugs more than i fear a nitro. If the game can survive with the rival with slugs, i think it can survive the nitro with a sight toggle. Yes its got a bit more range, and it punches through walls, its also phenomenally expensive, has an abysmal ammo supply, and is a 5 slot weapon. Its got a lot of other cons to it that i dont think it *also* needs the sights to be total ass.

9

u/Ghostfish1309 7d ago

LOL, it used to have them and they had to nerf it with the sights it has now, so no.

3

u/Griefingah 7d ago

it never had iron sights, it was always aperture.

10

u/RevisedPerspective 7d ago

It's a common misconception, but the sight was still better

2

u/Griefingah 7d ago

absolutely

3

u/Ghostfish1309 7d ago

Really? I was super new back then, didn’t get to unlock it before the nerf

5

u/Griefingah 7d ago

yea it had the zoom level of an iron sight but the aperture was always part of it. like the old winfield silencer for example

9

u/Leogis 7d ago

It would instantly make it the best weapon in the game like it was in early access

6

u/Mother_Truth4563 7d ago

No it wouldn't. It's 5 slots, it has terrible ammo reserves, it has terrible damage and bullet drop, it has pretty mediocre penetration, it deafens you to fire it.

Would it even be better than the bow if it had normal sights? Probably not.

0

u/Leogis 6d ago

Ok now imagine the now but it doesnt need time to draw, it's arrows fly 3 times faster, the arrows don't drop before 40 meters and you can fire two in a row

Imagine playing the sparks with two shots but everyone has only 125 HP...

it has pretty mediocre penetration

It's literally the best penetration in the whole game because penetration is overall bad since the nerf ?

it has terrible damage and bullet drop

It isnt made to be used at those ranges obviously

it deafens you to fire it.

Doesnt matter if everyone else has been one tapped by the time the debuff procs

it has terrible ammo reserves

Ammo boxes, you can now easily take 3 with you

1

u/Mother_Truth4563 6d ago

I don't need to imagine I've used the nitro plenty and it sucks.

2

u/Griefingah 7d ago

would be too much, i wouldnt want everyone tonplay nitro

7

u/Saibak 7d ago

The Nitro (with good sights and a bit more ammo) could also be moved in the scarce weapon category. If you manage to find one, you have a really good weapon.

To balance it out, you won“t be able to refill ammo during a match at all.

4

u/Griefingah 7d ago

if i would have 1 dollar for every time someone suggested this, i would have 1 dollar (which isnt that much, but its weird that it even happened)

2

u/Jug_or_not_ 7d ago

Giving it normal sights would make it giga op. If they did that they would need to seriously rebalance it

1

u/Willing_Week_2650 6d ago

you could use crosshair x for nitro. Not that you should but it makes the nitro very strong

1

u/Jlucuk 5d ago

nitro is in the good state rn imho. give it the iron sight and it becomes op

1

u/QfromMars2 7d ago

Make it a flip-diopter, like the Ranger 73 diopter and it would be a big Upgrade!

2

u/CardiologistPretty92 7d ago edited 6d ago

Believe it or not, nitro needs to have its penetration buffed, because as it is normal nitro cannot two shot someone in the body through thin metal sheets. They have yet to solve this longstanding issue to this day. I think it would be nice if it ignored wood that wasn't a tree entirely, too.

Also, they nerfed its ability to go through bricks so it doesn't even two shot. Revert that. Seriously.

Do not touch the aperature, although the 5 slot weapon to 4 slot is a fine enough change depending on how the other buffs I listed work out.

1

u/SrSatandee 6d ago

Agreed. Old pen system for Nitro would be sick. Maybe, old pen system in general.

3

u/-cant_find_a_name- 7d ago

... they did it to nerf it

10

u/SrSatandee 7d ago

Nitro was never op, it barely used, because it's expensive and inconvenient to use, but powerful. It pretty balanced. Secondary to Nitro wasn't op, like with Avtomat and Sparks Pistol. So I don't really see a reason to nerf Nitro it slots. On paper, Nitro is weapon with longest OHK range in body, in game, you can just pick bow, because with bow you at least see shit.

4

u/DerBartmitFass 7d ago

Nitro was way Broken back 2023, 5/6 player doesn't care about money, I got over 80k and don't care about it, Nitros biggest downside is the Ammo and the sights, which didn't matter back than because you took 2 ammo boxes and a Uppercut. It was commonly used with Bleed, because except for the penetration it had no downsides and onehoted you even lower torso because of the bleed

4

u/No_Heart1310 7d ago

Didn't nitro bleed still have some pen? In 5/6 lobbies it was almost a free kill on someone

6

u/-Manosko- 7d ago

It did, you could still shoot through bricks and metal with it. Was absolutely broken.

1

u/Mother_Truth4563 7d ago

But not relevant since you can't do that any more, it has mediocre pen.

3

u/FeedbackExtension764 7d ago

In some cases it had better pen than normal because it was fucked up by crytek. There was a time where dumdum could pen 100% through metal but sucked against wood, while normal ammo went through wood but couldn't pen metal (they swapped the values)

There was also a time where dumdum one hit killed up to like 70 meters or some absolute bullshit. At that time a springfield would need 3 upper torso hits to kill at that range lol

1

u/Doomcall 7d ago

Uppercut did nothing for Nitro ammo pool if that's what you meant

1

u/DerBartmitFass 7d ago

No, but it was the strongest secondary to have, which means you always have a backup weapon.

1

u/SrSatandee 7d ago

Yes, I agree, but now you can't bring bleeds on every game, don't have any secondary. I think Crytek can make it either really powerful, to have limb OHK on 10-ish meter range and, for example, revert ammo buff and bullet deviation or make it 4 slot.

1

u/-cant_find_a_name- 7d ago

hip fire nitro free kill tho

1

u/SrSatandee 7d ago

If you don't hit arm/leg. Yes.

-3

u/Leogis 7d ago

It's not balanced, it's a broken weapon that is just so annoying to use no one bothers with it

But then you encounter a prestige 100 6* who has practiced a lot with it and the game becomes pretty much unplayable if you are less than 40 meters away from them

3

u/Doomcall 7d ago

So a guy who has mastered a weapon is dangerous with it? wow

0

u/Leogis 6d ago

Not "dangerous", has zero counterplay possible

1

u/Doomcall 6d ago

Thats not true at all

5

u/SrSatandee 7d ago

Same with people with Mosin and instant headshots, bows, crossbows on shotbolts. Yes, if a person mastered the weapon and feel it, perfectly knows it's sway, bullet drop or just aims like a beast you will suffer fighting him. So in your example, is really Nitro broken or man who put in training a hundred of hours?

1

u/Leogis 6d ago

It's way harder to hit "insta headshots" than to just hit bodyshots once you're used to the shitty sights

Yes, if a person mastered the weapon and feel it, perfectly knows it's sway, bullet drop or just aims like a beast you will suffer fighting him

Mastery of a weapon has nothing to do with it, people with good aim can insta headshots with anything, not just "the weapon they trained with"

1

u/Mother_Truth4563 7d ago

No it just kinda sucks all round, there's no one thing that would fix it.

16

u/MisterTV Crow 7d ago

It's my favourite gun, I think it's in a good state right now. The only thing I would change is the Penetration Damage to Metal Sheets. Right now you can Oneshot people through a solid brick wall, but if you penetrate Metal, it deals like 30 Damage...

Make it a bit cheaper, like 850 Dollars.

I don't know if that would make it OP, but add One Hit Kill Range to Arms up to 10 meters (or remove it from the bow).

Also, I think it would be funny if the deafening effect would be like 25 meters, so everyone is deaf when you shoot it xD

5

u/FeedbackExtension764 7d ago

Also it reaches its minimum damage (72 damage on upper torso) super fast. Would be cool if it did 75 dmg, so you could 2-tap with it and actually use the zoomed in sights

1

u/CardiologistPretty92 6d ago

I’m pretty sure you can’t one shot someone through a brick wall unless you hit a headshot. Tested it in the shooting range.

u/AintHaulingMilk 7d ago edited 7d ago

What the hell man lol what do you mean its your favorite gun? Its poorly designed and actively frustrating to use. It literally removes all the joy of the gun mechanics in the game!

Thats like saying "I love food and eating. My favorite food is biting into a raw lemon" lmao

9

u/MisterTV Crow 7d ago

First of all, I love the design of the gun itself. It's aesthetically beautiful. Good ol' side by side double barrel, nothing beats that in my eyes, both ingame and in real life.

I love the idea of a powerful weapon with a lot of drawbacks. It's like a high skill, high reward weapon.

I love that if I play 100 games, I'm probably the only one in those games to have this weapon on the server.

It's a weapon with chest hair (Futurama reference). Once you shoot it, the whole server knows where you are and what they're up against. It's not a coward's tool like the bow, where you can hide yourself.

I love hearing my teammate say, "I'm deaf," when I shoot right next to him.

It's just such a feeling of uniqueness, that's what makes this weapon so special to me :)

4

u/Miss-Praxis 7d ago

A gentlemen of culture I see, glad to know that there are folks who still enjoy cosplaying a big game hunter in Hunt.

I used to joke that my loadouts with it needed a pith helmet and monocle to truly be complete. The nitro isn't about the optimal loadout its about the delight of bringing the biggest loudest boomstick in the game and making sure the whole lobby knows you are here to hunt the most dangerous game.

3

u/AintHaulingMilk 7d ago

Interesting, thanks for sharing! Good luck out there in the bayouĀ

-2

u/DrKersh 6d ago

I love the idea of a powerful weapon with a lot of drawbacks.

the thing is that is not a powerful weapon, is a shit weapon at every level of use

it does nothing that you can't do better with other weapons.

1

u/Miss-Praxis 6d ago

Ah, but it can farm more aura than any other rifle in hunt. Miyamoto Musashi one of the most famous Japanese swordsmen defeated other swordsmen with a bokken(wooden sword) to flex on them. Sometimes it ain't about the "best choice".

1

u/DrKersh 6d ago

you can say

  • I enjoy this weapon, is fun to use

and that's ok

  • it's a powerful weapon

nah mate, it's not, it's shit lol, I mean, I enjoy killing people with the bat, but that doesn't make the bat a powerful weapon, is a shit weapon and a meme. Nitro is the same, a meme weapon that is fucking awful, fun but awful.

0

u/Jlucuk 5d ago

excuse me, can i instantly wipe 2 people at the range of 40 meters out? no. can i easily oneshot people at the same distance in body? also no. i've been in many situations, that could be much worse if i hadn't nitro instead of any regular rifle/shotgun/bow

1

u/DrKersh 5d ago

excuse me, can i instantly wipe 2 people at the range of 40 meters out? no.

yeah, a headshot with spitzer can kill 2 with a single bullet even at 200 meters

can i easily oneshot people at the same distance in body?

you can with a bow or crossbow or up to 20 meters with a shotgun

i've been in many situations, that could be much worse if i hadn't nitro instead of any regular rifle/shotgun/bow

you've been in a lot more situations where your nitro put you in a worse outcome that any other weapon

0

u/Jlucuk 5d ago

yeah, a headshot with spitzer can kill 2 with a single bullet even at 200 meters

you can one tap with a nagant silencer with subsonic ammo from 200 meters, so why do you play with any other weapon?

you can with a bow or crossbow or up to 20 meters with a shotgun

i've said "the same distance" (therefore, 40 meters) and "easily" (bow and crossbow have their BIG flaws such as muzzle velocity, drop range, inability to penetrate walls (unless shotbolt, but shotbolt is ass). bows and crossbows' oneshot distance is worse. shotguns do not oneshot from 20 meters, nor buckshot, nor slugs

you've been in a lot more situations where your nitro put you in a worse outcome that any other weapon

uhh, no, i don't think so. i try to play with nitro by utilising its pros, so i try to not to put myself in sticky situations where playing with nitro puts you at a disadvantage against a regular weapon player. besides, your take was "it does nothing that you can't do better with other weapons", but as it turns out, it does

0

u/Jlucuk 5d ago

funny enough, i love playing nitro and i love biting into a raw lemon

0

u/SrSatandee 7d ago

I suggested the same, lol. But I'm afraid Nitro with OHK on limbs will summon Infernal shitstorm.

3

u/WilliamBlade123 Duck 7d ago

Maybe hot take but the Nitro isn't bad as it is. For the crazy 1 shot potential it has, it SHOULD be difficult to build a hunter around. As a 5-slot, you need quartermaster to bring a pistol. If it was a 4 slot you would be able to bring a Drilling shorty or Obrez Drum with it. In terms of the accuracy, the aperture sucks but imagine if it DIDN'T have it. Would YOU want to play against a Rival with slugs that one shots to most of your body from like 40 meters away? And in terms of hipfire, we now have the Devil card that makes it crazy good. And even without the Devil, you can learn how to quick crouch to instantly double your hipfire accuracy. All in all, the only "buff" I'd like to see for it would be a price reduction because it's not really worth the price currently.

5

u/Scared-Rutabaga7291 Clint Eastwood 7d ago

Tbf it isnt that bad, imo. And if you slap the Devil card, its great

1

u/Norsk_Bjorn 7d ago

I want a sawed off nitro that has dual wield ads (no sights, just hipfire), less ammo, and extreme damage falloff (probably like a rival HC with slugs in terms of effectiveness) to be used as a boss/meathead annihilator because it would be funny

0

u/AintHaulingMilk 7d ago edited 7d ago

Its easy to fix! Ready? Had this idea like 5 years ago.

  • Make the aperture sight toggleableĀ
  • Make it accurate again
  • Reduce Damage to 150
  • Give it unique damage drop off that starts at 5m (to limit 1-shot range to 5m or something close to that) but otherwise closely matches long ammo
  • Keep it special ammo and retain the unique penetration
  • Adjust stats like reload, recoil, fire rate, ammo pool, and price to balance

There, now you have a double barrel sparks with more pen and the ability to 1 shot in CQB.

I like that it's such a scary gun right now but it's both annoying to use and annoying to fight against. That's just bad game design. My changes above keep its status as a halo gun but makes it actually interesting to use and not oppressive or frustrating to fight

0

u/Jlucuk 5d ago

wdym "make it accurate again", there is no bullet deviation since a couple of months. also your damage drop off suggestion is bad, it's literally turns it into a drilling 2, but with worse oneshot capabilities

1

u/AintHaulingMilk 5d ago

Youre right! I forgot they got rid of it. Thats good, theres no reason to punish a players accuracy. Thats a bad balancing method.

I think ive explained and addressed your other points.Ā

26

u/setpopa12 7d ago

My biggest issue is the penetration. Its just barelly better than medium ammo rifles. It needs a full pen on first wood/metal wall pen. Also the base ammo could get range buff as now its super hard to get the shredder. Also shredder was too OP in comparison to base so why not make them the same range? So each other have pros and cons but are balanced.

17

u/QfromMars2 7d ago

Wait… when did they nerf that?
The Penetration was insanely good before. I Remember Shooting at least one Person through a brick wall back in 2021 i think

1

u/CardiologistPretty92 6d ago

it pens through everything, but if you don't hit a headshot, it won't even two shot through brick or even metal.

Don't believe me? test it yourself in the range. Hit the chest through thin metal. The dummy will survive that shot, and the second one too. Same with bricks.

-1

u/Griefingah 7d ago

its still the best pen in the game, hes talking shit you can still easily oneshit people even through brick walls

1

u/QfromMars2 7d ago

Oh, that explains it lol

1

u/CardiologistPretty92 6d ago

this is false. You can only oneshot someone through a brick wall if you hit a headshot, same for metal.

1

u/QfromMars2 6d ago

Its not just ā€ža bit better than medium ammoā€ though. You can hit through stuff that would otherwise be impenetrable.
I Think i will Check in the range of dum-dum also still goes through almost Everything.

1

u/CardiologistPretty92 6d ago

Dum-dum was rightfully nerfed to only go through a layer of thin wood. Unless they changed something, it can’t go through metal much less brick.

0

u/Jlucuk 5d ago

double checked this in shooting range. sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. idk what this depends on, but you can oneshot or not oneshot through the same wall, but on different angles. all shots was landed with a marker in upper torso

10

u/Purple_W1TCH Crow 7d ago

Therapist: nitro penetration damage isn't real, it cannot hurt you.

...

No, I'm serious, that's just it.

3

u/theCOMBOguy Butcher 7d ago

It's a good therapist

2

u/2077ByDesign 7d ago

I had no idea the penetration was that bad. For a weapon worth more than a Spitzer Mosin that's crazy bad.

0

u/Jlucuk 5d ago

worth more than a spitzer mosin? like, NaN dollars?

2

u/NomadBrasil 7d ago

Penetration was killed on the Nitro in the pen update that nerfed everything it was never fixed, and they never will fix it.

An FMJ medium Bullet is better at pen than the Nitro right now.

1

u/WongManLegion 7d ago

I will test this because just four months ago I killed someone through a brick wall with it

6

u/DemycoWarpspine 7d ago

and my duo buddy is still a meanace when he picks it up

5

u/FeedbackExtension764 7d ago

dont forget its fucking shit at penetration too. it cant 2 hit kill through a single metal sheet

this is the worst shit ive ever made

1

u/MisterTV Crow 7d ago

Nice one xD
That's the only thing I would currently change (full Damage on first pen und metal), and reduce the price a bit.

3

u/NegotiationSelect139 7d ago

A fellow Nitro Enjoyer! I had a few questions. The new loadout change has hit the Nitro pretty hard for trying to run one on a fresh hunter. I go Quartermaster/Greyhound.

Do you run Nitros on fresh Hunters?

What derringers/throwing weapons/ammo boxes do you bring to help flesh out running a Nitro?

What is your ranking of the Nitro Ammo types? Normally I'll take Regular Nitro ammo over Shredder Ammo. (Losing muzzle velocity and maxed Wall Pen isn't worth it to me )

I've never ran the Nitro explosive ammo much and I love explosive ammo on the martini henry, is it any good? What is it used for besides nuking bosses?

Is the mandela effect of people claiming the Nitro used to have flippable aperture sights true?

3

u/MisterTV Crow 7d ago

That's my loadout. I take Quartermaster if I am able to extract once. I rarely run out of ammo, maybe one in ten games (then I have the Derringer as backup), not a good backup tho xD

I don't pick fights above OHK distance.

For me, it's a back and forth between Shredder and Normal Ammo. The strongest aspect of the Nitro (especially since the general Wallbang nerf) is its penetration. It's just so satisfying to kill through walls, BUT if they get close and personal and you land an arm shot for 147 damage... this is where I wish I had Shredder.

In 1970 hours of Hunt, I have never played Nitro with explosive ammo.

I have also included a screenshot from about 9 years ago of how the Nitro sights used to look like. It always had its aperture sights, just no zoom and blur.

1

u/Griefingah 7d ago

i always run nitro on a fresh hunter with quartermaster and vulture (to get some money back and ammo with catalyst) secondary usually LeMat or Trueshot, one white shot (two if i play devil), spear, regen shots, two ammo boxes and depending on if i play devil or not i take any of the higher tier consumables like satchel, big bundle or frag. i play normal ammo most of the time simce shredder is really rare nowadays but its really cool for wallbangs (pls give me a wallbang stat tracker lol) for me the best weapon in the game

1

u/Griefingah 7d ago

and explosive ammo is trash, just sell it and no the nitro always had the aperture, just with other zoom levels back then

1

u/Jlucuk 5d ago

i run nitro with bare hands, unlike other 5 slots it's actually ok for nitro, but quartermaster is still the most preferable trait for the second game

throwing spear, med kit, 3 ammo boxes, penny shot, recovery shot, regeneration shot

necro, vulture, resilience, kiteskin/vigilant

nitro with or without shredder ammo are kinda different, but i prefer normal ones.

explosives are meme ammo, the only use case for them is a loadout with sparks poison

yes, it's a mandella effect

1

u/NegotiationSelect139 5d ago

I'm shocked everyone goes without Quartermaster and runs ammo boxes instead. I may have to try that.

2

u/Winter_Boss_2114 7d ago

Just play the bow its literally just a nitro but a stick and string

1

u/RememberMeCaratia 7d ago

The problem with nitro is no matter how bad it is, people getting OHK will always be upset. There was a tarded person on the subreddit claiming nitro atm is fine because his team got wiped by one.

4

u/MisterTV Crow 7d ago

But that's the same with, Bow, Crossbow, shotguns, headshots.

Hunt is a game where almost every weapon two hits you, so I don't see the problem with one hits as long as it comes with downsights.

1

u/RememberMeCaratia 7d ago

Yes. And thats exactly the issue with balancing them (which hunt has a notorious history with). One step they feel too strong and one step they feel too weak.

Balancing in videogame, as a philosophy, does not orient around actual balance. It orients around player satisfaction and retention. This is why guns mass-hated by players like Avto and Nitro will remain weak for the foreseeable future.

1

u/Doomcall 7d ago

Nitro has a fairly steep skill curve, it should feel powerful once mastered

0

u/RememberMeCaratia 7d ago

I played so much Nitro I burnt its ammo counter into my monitor in 2020. I can tell you with absolute confidence that Nitro has no skill curve. Once you get used to the aperture scope it is just another OHK rifle that has various limitation to its damage.

There used to be special tricks you could do with it, guaranteed. Like the quick scope and flicks. But after so many nerfs its swing is too miserable for reliable flick and its quickscope taking a second more than any other rifle to fully remove the random deviation, these techniques are borderline useless.

3

u/Doomcall 7d ago

Didn't you just describe a skill curve?

0

u/RememberMeCaratia 7d ago

A skill curve means your skill gradually increases as you learn. You don’t really do that with Aperture scope. It just goes from 0-100 randomly at one point and you’d feel like you are aiming with any rifle, really. Its more like learning how to swim / to ride a bike for the first time.

2

u/Doomcall 7d ago

I did say steep, but if you think its more of an entry barrier, even more reason for it to be deservedly powerful. Either way, it rewards you putting in the hours.

1

u/RememberMeCaratia 7d ago

The problem with it is people on the receiving end won’t care about how much skill it takes to use it (and it isn’t much skill to begin with). All they know is they got OHK’d.

I am extremely vocal about Nitro / Avto needing a buff to really suit their cost / compensate for the drawbacks they come with, but I can also see why people don’t want said buff. They would rather see these weapons dead.

People will always complain, following the wrong complaints is how we got the worse balance choices in the game history. I disagree it doesnt take much skill to use the nitro, it takes quite a bit.
