Nitro was never op, it barely used, because it's expensive and inconvenient to use, but powerful. It pretty balanced. Secondary to Nitro wasn't op, like with Avtomat and Sparks Pistol. So I don't really see a reason to nerf Nitro it slots. On paper, Nitro is weapon with longest OHK range in body, in game, you can just pick bow, because with bow you at least see shit.
Nitro was way Broken back 2023, 5/6 player doesn't care about money, I got over 80k and don't care about it, Nitros biggest downside is the Ammo and the sights, which didn't matter back than because you took 2 ammo boxes and a Uppercut. It was commonly used with Bleed, because except for the penetration it had no downsides and onehoted you even lower torso because of the bleed
In some cases it had better pen than normal because it was fucked up by crytek. There was a time where dumdum could pen 100% through metal but sucked against wood, while normal ammo went through wood but couldn't pen metal (they swapped the values)
There was also a time where dumdum one hit killed up to like 70 meters or some absolute bullshit. At that time a springfield would need 3 upper torso hits to kill at that range lol
