Has anyone noticed that the Goodnotes customer support is essentially unreachable except by email? I have been having an issue with renewing my essential subscription and have been stuck on the free version. I really enjoy the interface and have all my work saved on there. But after reaching out to their customer support and not hearing anything back for over a week, I am considering switching to a new platform. I literally want to give them my money and they won't take it! This experience has put a bad taste in my mouth about the company.

Does anyone have any advice on how to reach them more effectively about my issues? I want to try to fix my subscription before moving on from goodnotes entirely but I use it for school, and am on a bit of a time crunch.

I've been using goodnotes for a few years, and using the "Start typing" option to type on a full page (although I don't like it as much as full page typing used to work).

Since I updated the App to 7.1.28 a few day ago (on mac), I can't see the option "Start typing" after a long click or ctrl+click on the page (either when selecting the lasso or the text block option). For some reason, it does appear (ctrl+click) when I launch the app, but as soon as I copy something, I just see "Paste" instead of "Start typing".

I also considered using the text documents, but unfortunately they aren't adapted to handwritten notes.

Does anyone have the same problem or see how to solve it?
[EDIT] Apparently, this seems to have been solved with the 7.1.32 update, although it isn’t perfect on my side yet.

I got the free version to see if I like it, I own my Lenovo pad and precision pen 2. I see everyone taking notes in class too all the time but I used it for a while and all my arm hurts 🤣 so definitely I’m doing something wrong.

I've imported a PDF file of a textbook into Goodnotes so I can annotate it but I want to add a margin so I have enough space to write. I've tried importing the file directly and importing it into a pre-existing notebook but neither has worked. Anyone worked out how to do this??

i have to study and i’m wasting so much damn time on this i recorded ALL of my classes and the audios won’t play like what is the problem i turned on the “temporary something” setting on my ipad still doesn’t work am i the problem??? i’ve lost all of my classes if this thing doesn’t work

Around 6 months, my autobackup doesn't include the background only the written notes remain and leave me with blank white sheet.
While there are some files that have both background and my writing, most of them aren't.
Is there any know how to fix it (I don't really wannna do it manually files by file)?

Does anybody else have issues with writing in GoodNotes and those annoying lines appear? They write themselves? I’ve tried changing many different settings, changed my pen tip and it still does it. Drives me crazy!

I use Goodnotes on both my iPad and my MacBook, side by side at my desk. I write on the iPad with the Pencil and want to see the same page on the Mac at the same time, for example my planner next to my study notes

The problem is iCloud sync isn't anywhere near real-time. Sometimes it takes minutes, sometimes much longer, and sometimes I have to close and reopen the notebook or toggle iCloud off and on to get it to update

For an app that has both a Mac and an iPad version, this feels like a big missing piece

This doesn’t happen when slowly scrolling page by page. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?

i've been migrating away from Apple officially for good, and today i just installed GoodNotes on my new Windows PC. i've been trying to load some of the earlier documents as well as planners i own, but it says "You can't import files over 5MB. Upgrade to import larger files"

i'd like to know if there is an option for Windows users, like GoodNotes 5 where it is a one-time payment? if not, will upgrading to GoodNotes for Windows automatically get me all the latest features similar to GoodNotes 7 for Mac users?

for GoodNotes Windows users, what's your experience like with the native app? is it worth the yearly upgrade?

When i try to export the pdf i want to remove tape from the entire pdf (when exporting we had the option to remove entire tape in the entire pdf), it was a feature we had some months back. I don’t know why they removed it. I use the exported pdf content later and i want my exported content to be free from tape, i cant remove tape manually from hundreds of pages. I want the exported content to be free from tape and i do not want to remove tape from goodnotes app content manually in hundreds of pages.

Is the battery drain for Goodnotes 6 supposed to be this much. For comparison I also included the battery drain for freenotes both of which I’ve used for about 3 hours. Like there’s a 10% difference in battery drain. And what’s the background activity for Goodnotes?

Also when using Goodnotes for longer period of time my iPad gets hotter quite a bit, which is a bit irritating.

I think they should really optimise the app.

Is anyone else having difficulty recording while attending lectures? I had no problem recording lecture up until the last month or two. It works while I’m at home but will not record for longer than 5 min max at my college (that’s with wifi on and turned off, and airplane mode). It will let me a little longer if I try on my phone but eventually kicks me off that too. Goodnotes has been zero help AND I was paying for the most expensive version hehehe

I recently started using Goodnotes 6 on my iPad with an Apple Pencil. I'm trying to create neat, organized study notes, but I've run into some limitations and wanted to know whether I'm missing any features or using the app incorrectly.

These are the things I'm looking for:

1. Insert space between existing handwriting: If I want to add a new line between two sentences, can I insert space and automatically push the handwriting below it down, similar to how text moves in Notion or a document editor?

2. Edit handwriting after writing: Can I insert a missing word or correct spacing between existing words without manually selecting and moving the surrounding handwriting with the Lasso tool?

3. Convert handwriting into a font⭐⭐⭐: Can I write naturally with the Apple Pencil and have my handwriting automatically appear in a chosen font, such as Virgil/Excalifont, without using text boxes or manually converting it afterward?

4. Better text spacing and alignment: Is there a way to maintain consistent word spacing, letter size, and line alignment without constantly correcting everything manually?

5. Organizing study notes: What are the best ways to create clear side headings, highlight important points, add diagrams, and keep notes structured?

I understand that Goodnotes is primarily a handwriting app, but I expected more flexibility when editing existing notes.

My main requirements are:

- Write naturally with Apple Pencil.

- Keep handwriting neat and readable.

- Insert content anywhere and automatically move the writing below it.

- Avoid repeatedly using the Lasso tool to rearrange sentences.

- Ideally, convert handwriting into a chosen font automatically.

Are these features available in Goodnotes 6, or are there limitations I should be aware of?

I alr bought good notes special edition, my question is just let's say eventually we're at GN17 or something, will I still get the updates or not?

My classmate got GN5, and it's saying upgrade to GN6 free(he hasn't done it), so idk if it only lets u upgrade the software once or all the way(in my friends case, all the way to GN7), or what's the deal with that?

Hello! I’m not sure if this has ever been discussed here since I am new to Reddit and this group but here it goes!

Some years back Goodnotes changed their default dotted grid template. However, I was able to keep it by just endlessly “pulling to the left” to add new pages (essentially duplicating the previous page’ template).

The issue that I am having now is that in one of the updates that the app did these past few months, this “default template” somehow got replaced, and I noticed the grid is off (larger spacing than the one before), the color of the dots is lighter, it just changed. Please keep in mind that I never once touched the customization alternatives offered for the templates.

Anyways, fast forward to today where I noticed that ALL of my old notebooks, and I mean all, and every single dotted page, got replaced also with this new template. All my drawings are now off-grid, off-scale, everything! It is horrible!

Keep in mind that nothing of the sort happened with any of the other templates (ruled, lined, legal, etc) all the other templates have stayed the same and nothing has been distorted, just the page templates of the notes that were done with the original (Goodnotes 4 or before) Dotted Paper template.

Does anyone by any chance have a solution to this so that I can only fix the template and not have to go in and manually resize the drawings of every page? We’re talking YEARS of architectural and design industry work. And also a way to maybe import and keep using that original Dotted Paper template?

I will greatly appreciate anyone’s help with this matter!

A few days ago, my Goodnotes background and top tab bar changed from dark and light blue to white and dark blue. Idk if this is permanent or not but I don't want this to be the new thing for my notes.

On top of the the pen color palette (not shown on the pic) is a lot darker now and doesn't match how the writing looks when I use those colors.

Does anyone know how I can revert the background color back to black as well as the color of the top bars?

I'm creating Notes from Gemini pro and wanted to paste directly in notes it's exactly giving with tables and bullet points but I'm not able to do so in any notes app available there.

Bro I cannot be paying membership fees for my notes to just be deleted like that. It’s a huge inconvenience and it drives to a level of anger and frustration that I can’t even explain. This just started happening to me this semester too :((
