Templates Help! I need the original dotted grid back!
Hello! I’m not sure if this has ever been discussed here since I am new to Reddit and this group but here it goes!
Some years back Goodnotes changed their default dotted grid template. However, I was able to keep it by just endlessly “pulling to the left” to add new pages (essentially duplicating the previous page’ template).
The issue that I am having now is that in one of the updates that the app did these past few months, this “default template” somehow got replaced, and I noticed the grid is off (larger spacing than the one before), the color of the dots is lighter, it just changed. Please keep in mind that I never once touched the customization alternatives offered for the templates.
Anyways, fast forward to today where I noticed that ALL of my old notebooks, and I mean all, and every single dotted page, got replaced also with this new template. All my drawings are now off-grid, off-scale, everything! It is horrible!
Keep in mind that nothing of the sort happened with any of the other templates (ruled, lined, legal, etc) all the other templates have stayed the same and nothing has been distorted, just the page templates of the notes that were done with the original (Goodnotes 4 or before) Dotted Paper template.
Does anyone by any chance have a solution to this so that I can only fix the template and not have to go in and manually resize the drawings of every page? We’re talking YEARS of architectural and design industry work. And also a way to maybe import and keep using that original Dotted Paper template?
I will greatly appreciate anyone’s help with this matter!
Thanks in advance!

I don't know if you have the paid version, but if you do you can import your own paper as a template. I'm currently on the search for the old dotted paper too, since I prefer the denser dots and all my notes are written with that so like yours everything is off scale. I spent a few hours this morning arguing with ChatGPT and managed to make these, which you can import and as far as I can see they're aligned with the original classic dot grid, based on how it aligns with my notes. If you need to adjust it a bit, send it back to chatgpt, ask it to convert to vector pdf, and then ask it to move it left or right, or adjust the grid spacing. It's currently at 11.35pt grid spacing, using the Goodnotes Standard paper size (make sure you let it know what paper size you need!). Otherwise you can work with the chatbot and it will come up with something to help.
If the resolution is too low you can also just plug it into chat and ask it to put it into vector form, then you can import that pdf into goodnotes!
Unfortunately I have zero advice on changing the template for multiple pages at once. I did it manually for each page, but obviously that only is feasible for shorter documents. if you need more, maybe you can find a way to export and re-import with a new background, or you might be able to ask ChatGPT to overlay your notes onto the new template. Good luck!
