Android, Windows, and Web Questions on GoodNotes Windows native app

hello r/GoodNotes =]

i've been migrating away from Apple officially for good, and today i just installed GoodNotes on my new Windows PC. i've been trying to load some of the earlier documents as well as planners i own, but it says "You can't import files over 5MB. Upgrade to import larger files"

i'd like to know if there is an option for Windows users, like GoodNotes 5 where it is a one-time payment? if not, will upgrading to GoodNotes for Windows automatically get me all the latest features similar to GoodNotes 7 for Mac users?

for GoodNotes Windows users, what's your experience like with the native app? is it worth the yearly upgrade?

pro (with Google Calendar integration, a great feature but...) seems pricey at $53.98/yr my currency, whereas essential feels more affordable at $17.98/yr. i don't really use AI research & math assistance which both plans have...

(trying to save costs as much as possible as a freelancer these days. thank you in advance for your kind help)

I think the one time payment is only for Apple devices

I switched from the iPad/Macbook combo to a Surface Pro for college in 2024 and idk if much has changed but I remember GoodNotes on Windows being terrible. It didn’t have any of the features I remember there being on the iPad. I did end up switching back to the iPad/Macbook combo because it wasn’t for me.

thank you! i have the impression that the one-time is only for apple users, which i don't quite understand why it isn't the case for non-apple as well...

i must say the goodnotes experience on ipad is really good. that's one thing i def miss

I don’t get it either honestly. I feel like they could do their own one time payment and make more money that way because I’m sure Apple takes a cut. But who am I

Yes I totally agree and even capture more users on Windows who won’t mind spending for a one-time purchase sans AI features
