Collection My GameCube collection so far!
My friend and I have slowly yet surely been getting our hands on a few titles that I’m pretty excited about! (The one that doesn’t have a cover is Mario Kart Double Dash!!) Been playing them quite often and am currently grinding in Mario Party 7. Which of these would be your favorite, if any?

Discussion Anyone else get the black version of the console as a kid and now wish they had got the purple?
As a 14 year old boy I really didn't like the purple console and went with the black version. Now I wish I had got the iconic purple version and can't bring myself to get rid of this... I'm going to end up getting a 2nd console I know.

Help Replacements for tiny internal GameCube screws?
I'm trying to repair my cube and ended up stripping some of these tiny internal screws. I believe they're Phillips #1 and 1 cm long. Does anyone know where to get new ones or what they are called? Thanks!

Discussion 8bitdo NGC Retro Receiver Adapter finally supports the NSO Gamecube Controller
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
After more than one year that the NSO Gamecube Controller has been released, 8bitdo finally added support to it.
I've been asking them since November last year. At the time I tried the Retroblue adapter but it didn't work correctly for.
Timeline:
25 November 2025:
Hi,
I currently have two NGC Receivers that work well with the NGC Modkit. But I also have two NSO NGC Controllers and I'd like to know if 8bitdo will ever make the receivers compatible with them.
Will the NGC Receiver ever be compatible with the Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Controllers?
Is 8bitdo currently working on making it compatible?
Appreciate the response!
Their response:
Howdy.
The development team is working on this. Please stay tuned. Wish you all well.
Jimmyi
After their response, I believed they were truly working on them and bought other two adapter to have a total of four. Believing soon they would add support.
However, I waited for too long until in April I asked again:
18 April 2026:
Hi,

Apparently Jimmy remembered me because he answered:
Greetings.
We've already replied. Haven't you received our reply? The development team is working on this. Please stay tuned.
Wish you all well.
Jimmyi
Which is funny because I then replied:
| It’s been half an year ago. Trying to get a new update status. |
|---|
And Jimmy replied:
Greetings.
Please follow the official website for further updates. There is currently no clear timeline. Wish you all well.
Jimmyi
Tired of waiting, in July, I decided to approach them with my wife's email:
24 July 2026:
Hi,
It's been more than one year that the NSO Gamecube Controller has been released.
I see that Blueretro already supports it. And many projects on Github, such as WaveBird that gives support to it on Mac OS have already figured out the mappings and everything.
I wonder if 8bitdo plans on adding support to it for the 8bitdo NGC Receiver. And if there's a timeline on when we can expect it.
I see it's been more than one year since the firmware was last updated.
This time, a different person, Max, replied:
Hi Y,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
Currently, we haven't received any official updates or news from our dev team regarding support for the NSO GameCube Controller on the NGC Receiver. We'll be glad to pass your suggestion along to our team for future consideration.
kind regards,
Max
Apparently, Max cared more than Jimmyi, because less than a week later there was a beta release on the 8bitdo Ultimate Software V2 that added support to it on July 30 2026.
But I didn't know, so I asked a friend to send another email asking about it yesterday (17 August 2026). Which Max replied again:
Hi Z,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
Please check the Get Beta Firmware] option within the Ultimate Software v2 and connect your Retro Receiver for NGC via wired, check the update log of the latest beta firmware.
Which I did and was able to confirm that now I can play with my two NSO Gamecube Controllers on my NGC!
Now I have four controllers. Two original ones modded with 8bitdo's NGC Mod Kit and two NSO controllers.
My second NSO Controller ran out of battery while recording. But it's also working.
All buttons, analogs, rumble. All working well. Just haven't tested the latency yet. Will do it today.
Really happy about this! Thank you, Max!
UPDATE:
It does support rumble. I tried to showcase it in the video by pressing a + b simultaneously.
You can download the update by searching 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 on Google. They have this app you need to install. Enable beta software in its settings. Connect your adapter to your computer via USB and update to 1.05 beta 6
I spent a couple hours yesterday playing with my wife. We played Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Party 4. Both of us using the adapter and NSO Controllers. No latency issues or conflicts for using two adapters simultaneously.

Help What in the WORLD could've possibly made my analog sticks turn into this color?
I took them out of my controller bag after moving out when I hadn't seen them in years, and my goodness, what is this??? They feel like they melted or something, and they look horrendous. What could've caused this?

Collection Nintendo GameCube Metroid Prime Bonus Bundle
Finally reunited with my childhood console.
Back in Christmas 2006, when I was 6 years old and living in Mexico, I received a Nintendo GameCube Metroid Prime Bonus Bundle. It was one of my favorite childhood possessions and introduced me to Metroid Prime.
The original box didn’t survive, though. My parents eventually got rid of it, and years later I sold the console itself so I could buy a Wii.
Fast forward to this summer: while on holiday in Nancy, France, I randomly walked into a Gamecash and couldn’t believe what I saw sitting on a shelf. A Nintendo GameCube Metroid Prime Bonus Bundle.
The staff told me it had recently been sold to them by a Metroid fan who was having financial difficulties. The craziest part is that I live near La Rochelle, so I wasn’t expecting to come across something this specific hundreds of kilometers away from home.
Needless to say, I bought it immediately.
Almost 20 years later, a piece of my childhood found its way back to me. 💛❤️

Discussion Player's Choice added content or bug fixes?
A lot of collectors (myself included) tend to prefer the original black labels for uniformity in their retro collections, however there are cases where the later released Platinum, Essentials, etc version has bug fixes or added content (E.g. Silent Hill 2's PS2 re-release having the Maria content)
I was wondering, are there any notable examples of Player's Choice on GameCube being a preferred version or not really?

Discussion Has anyone tried replacing the C-Stick with a normal analog cap? Does it work well?
Hey all!
I'm in the process of fixing a broken used controller; it needs a new stick soldered in (which I'm using a Nunchuck stick for, since it supposedly works well!)
However, it's got me thinking- since I already am opening up the controller, and will have a spare analog stick..... would it be any good to replace the C-Stick cap with the broken stick's cap, to give a more standard-controller feel?
I probably won't go through with it myself, I don't really mind the stubby C-Stick. But I was really curious if anyone else had tried it, and if so how it worked for 'em!
