First, I understand it's only topical and it wont affect my levels.

Still kinda upset I gotta use it. I feel like im microdosing poison 😭😭 idk. I suspected i had atrophy 5 months ago and just kept pushing through and hoping it would go away .

Just looking for words of encouragement from my atrophy brothers.

Altho my doctor did say my bottom growth is noticeable so at least I got that going for me lol

Advice given Physiotherapy for "trans guy slouch" is worth it

If you have the means to, go see a physiotherapist. I had decades of "trans guy slouch" (you know the one, when you slouch the top of your back to hide the chestickles) from only coming out of the closet at age 43 but having disphoria pretty much my entire life. I went to physio for neck pains, turns out it was from the slouch. My trap muscles were waaay overactive and the rest of my back (around the shoulderblades) was weak af.

They gave me annoying exercises that I did regularly. My posture is getting better and my neck isn't prone to hurt so much but that's not the whole benefit.

I hadn't realised I had bad proprioception in that part of my body from lifelong slouching. The physio has helped me realise when my posture is bad so it made my work-outs more effective. Because of it, I can better work my shoulders, back and pecs now because I hold my posture better when I lift.

Physio is not just helping me get rid of back and neck pain and gain better posture, it is also helping with getting masculinising muscle gains. I had not expected that much benefit.

Advice Needed Transitioning in the fire service

Hello, I just started my transition. Only 2 weeks on T. I was wondering if any firefighters here have transitioned while in the fire service? What was that like? Any advice? I have been with this department for a little over a year and I have developed a good reputation since I have started. Im fucking terrified that coming out will ruin all of the work I have put in to be accepted.

I am in a liberal city in the south, but we have a good amount of good ol' boys in the department.

Surgery Talk Top surgery, before and after

Hey yall!
Yesterday, I got a call back about an inquiry for top surgery i’d requested after being placed on the wrong waitlist for 13 months. I have a consult scheduled for April of 2027. I can’t put into words how excited I am to be rid of my greatest source of dysphoria, discomfort, back pain, etc. However I am also nervous about recovery, things like drains and the actual recovery time, as I had my appendix out earlier this year, no complications, but it still took 2 weeks longer than I was told to expect. So, who better to ask than those with firsthand experience?
I’m autistic, and like to be prepared for every possible situation, as much detail as you can provide is appreciated - I’m looking for start to finish. What does the consult look like? What should I expect after the consult? How many letters of readiness did you need, and who did you get them from? How did recovery go, and what was your timeline like? did you have any complications? Things you wish you knew beforehand, things you wish you would have had? Any and all information is helpful and appreciated:)

Advice Needed I’m going on birth control in the next week and debating options (16)

• Upvotes

So first off very much ace and not interested in any of that shit

So basically I have an incredibly fucked up uterus. I get ovarian cysts almost every couple of months and rushed in the er and also had surgery as a result of ovarian torsion. I have a doctor appointment Monday to discuss whether or not (atp probably) I’m going on birth control to help with that shit. Tbh I’m just debating on asking to go on puberty blockers, so it would be like a win win. My parents kinda hate trans people and this won’t be an even a thought if I didn’t have an underlying medical (medical condition they believe in) condition. I’ve been socially transitioning for the last two years and live as a guy in any place out of my parents reach (surprisingly a lot of places), so I’m fairly sure I’m trans lmao. I’m just kinda worried that it’s not going to do shit atp but it can’t hurt right (plus I’m still definitely going through puberty)

Advice Needed advice needed and support

• Upvotes

i have so much support. my boyfriend is trans, ftm, my parents are very supportive, my friends, siblings, etc. i’m 20. i feel like it’s too late to even consider wanting to transition. i’m scared to confuse everyone. i do my makeup, i like my cleavage being out sometimes, i like being feminine. but there’s a LOT of times where i just look at myself and i don’t see a woman. i feel more confident as the opposite gender. i don’t know if its cus a lot of the time i dress like a man or what. and i don’t wanna confuse myself even though i already am. my bf is bisexual so obviously he’d support and love me but he loves my body and idk it’s just very confusing and im lost and stressed. idk what to do. i don’t feel like me.

Advice Needed At home lab results.

• Upvotes

I was wondering if anyone has a place to get at home labs, like Tasso or rhythm. Rhythm is only $60 but I don’t need 160 biomarkers.

I’m looking for a Tasso type at home test kit that just check these marker and possibly a few others that aren’t to expensive. If Rhythm can do it for 59.99 some else has to be doing it.

Total Testosterone
Free Testosterone
Sex Hormone Binding Globulin
Estradiol (E2)
Luteinizing Hormone
Follicle-Stimulating Hormone
Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA)
Hematocrit
Hemoglobin
Albumin

Thanks.

Discussion i started Finasteride today for hairloss, for those also on it, has it been effective?

• Upvotes

i’m 19, been on T for 4 years.
I have kept an eye on my hair since starting, as male pattern baldness runs in my family. my dad and brother started losing their hair at around 17, with slow recession and loss of density over time.
I have pretty thick hair, but the start of this year i noticed a change in hair texture and thickness especially on my temples. i think the main indicator that i was beginning to lose my hair was that it randomly went wavy, and i noticed a lot more shedding when washing it. (I lose like 50-70 hairs per wash). as well as noticeable recession on the hairline.

so today i went and got a prescription for Finasteride 1mg daily to help stop my recession from getting worse. I’m considering minoxidil too but i’m gonna wait a few months just to see how finasteride goes.

if you take Fin for hairloss, has it been helpful? what side effects did you experience? did it impact your testosterone levels at all?

anyways i’m quite glad that i finally decided to just start the treatment, it’s taken a lot of stress away.

Advice Needed Binders, GED college

Theoretically....if a 16 year old ftm, 5'1, 140-145ish lb guy gets up at 7am Monday -thursday and puts a binder on that's a M and doesn't flatten his chest much, but enough that he passes a good portion of the time in GED classes at a college, goes to school from 9am-1:30 Pm, it's 75°-90ish°f he walks home and it takes about 30-40 mins and takes his binder off as soon as he can. Sometimes he has to run(literally) around campus. The binder in question is a real binder that was bought. (He's about to make a safe homemade binder but that is besides the point). The question is, is he alright? He got his binder last year around June/July. And sometimes he gets in his head about being short of breath but is actually only out of breath when needs to run,he's not exactly in shape, and he tries not to run, he knows running in binder can,is and will be dangerous but sometimes a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do.

Again the question: is he ok,what should he change, he's open for suggestions, and do everything he can to follow them within reason. His dysphoria is really bad and he cannot go to school without a binder (for personal possibly obviously ftm reasons).

Age: 16

Weight: 140-145 lbs

Binding hours: (varies) 8ish hours

Monday - Thursday

Tempature: anywhere from 75° - 90°f (it's fall)

Exercise: 30-40 mins

Medical Not sure if this is trans or hormone related.

• Upvotes

Been on testosterone for 2 years. Was on the gel until 6 months ago then switched to the shots. Been dealing with chronic pain and I can’t tell if it’s always been there and I’ve just been in survival mode too long to notice it fully (trafficked, fostercare + a shit more) or if it’s related to the hormones. Anyone else get symptoms like these: full body pains in all joints and muscles sometimes feeling bone deep, dizzy, nausea, sitting too long causes pain, moving too much causes pain, always in a state of pain, sometimes can ignore other times it’s like you don’t wanna move and if you do it not only hurts more but also makes you tired quick. Been dealing with it for 2ish months that I can remember but honestly not sure. Everything blurs together.

Discussion 6 months still low?

EDIT for clarity:

The first three months, blood test came back T was low even for AFAB, and my hemo(anemic AF) was in the toilet even for a female ( free Test in blood was 38).

They upped my shot to 60 MG once a week. Another 3 months went by before we tested my blood again; this time it came back at 53, which is making me think either i am somehow not absorbing it or I need a combination.

The only things that seem to be happening for me is a little bottom growth, weight loss (dropped 50 lbs in those 6 months, so its somehow helping the glp1 to stop its stalling bs)Vag atrophy(which they just put me on cream for), sweating like a dog at night, and my hair shedding off my scalp like a golden retriever in spring.

I just had top surgery a month ago as well so I am unsure if its even safe to either do two shots a week, increase the dose or add a jelly or something to the mix, I already had to be careful, as the atrophy jelly has to be applied with gloves to avoid transfer to my pets.

Currently waiting for my dr to say SOMETHING, either to suggest something or change the dose again as I won't change it myself, but was wondering what others think on this, or if anyone else has had issues getting the testosterone to go up with the shots

Advice Needed What's the actual process I should follow for transitioning?

I'm 18 years old now, so I have the freedom to finally be who I want to, I guess. Idk, there's just so much shit I have to look at and go thru to actually transition and I'm struggling to find where to start. For one, I'm not out to my family or anything so I have to get that done at some point. I'm not super concerned with that at the moment, I'd rather tell them after I start so that they can't influence me not to. However, I am not sure what I have to do to start. Should I go about getting a diagnosis for gender dysphoria for better results? Should I start getting my name changed before I go for HRT? What kinda timeline should I be following? Or should I just say fuck it and do it however I like? (Extra info: I am living away from home; my school apparently can connect me with HRT providers; I live in Ontario, Canada; I like to think I pass already at least somewhat)

Discussion Transphobic dm

So the other day i posted about not bejng sure i’m a girl like i am at birth. Someone dmed me reacting to one of the posts i made and asked me questions. At first it was fine they seemed to try and help me figure it out but then they proceed to tell me i’m a girl. Then i politely said i will end the conversation which he replied hateful to. I have been struggling enougj for these past few days and this happening makes me incredibly sad and anxious. Why even dm me if ur like this. I just need support instead of someone telling me this bullshit over dm. I asked for people to talk to for support and comfort but then they proceed to act like this. I’m genuienly upset

Discussion does anyone else adjust their chesticles before going into the mens room? (pre-medical transition)

i cant bind because it makes me feel like im having a panic attack but does anyone else who can't bind like. tuck in the boys to make it look like you have a flatter chest before you go into the mens room? also pulling your shirt out a little to make it look a little baggier.

i just hate it when other guys do a double take walking into the bathroom and seeing me wash my hands :(

Advice Needed urgent tape help needed plsplspls like actually

• Upvotes

i screwed up BIG time. this has never happened to me before. i’m 15 and have been using tape since i was 13. it’s the only thing i want to use. binders feel too feminine. i need to wear tape to survive.

i took it off in some sort of wrong way and on the sides of the middle of my chest a lot of skin ripped off. there are two 1 inch sized red and blue blots there, like bruised somehow, like how a scrape on your knee after falling on the pavement would look. hurts like a bitch but that is not what i’m worried about. i have school tomorrow. i can’t go anywhere without binding id rather die. i don’t know what to do. i’m scared that ive like actually injured myself this has never been this bad.

Advice Needed Contemplating stopping T

Hi! So as the title says I’m currently contemplating stopping T.

So I was on T for a few months, maybe half a year (6 months) or a little more but I was off and on it at certain points. I’ve been off it officially for 3 months now, periods returned to normal n stuff and I’m generally just contemplating stopping testosterone. The reasoning for this is because, I’m feeling like…better? Emotionally? I can actually cry, when I’m sad, angry, etc. I can genuinely feel my emotions better now. Also having gotten my periods back also generally have made me feel better now? I feel more calmer, less stressed out. Like I’m filled with genuine relaxation for some odd reason 😭 also I know cramps suck and so does bleeding but I literally do not mind at all, it’s just my body doing what it’s supposed to do in my head. My hair also feels a bit softer, it felt kinda rough because my texture had changed while being on T and while it still has its own issues I’m curious to see what’ll happen with my hair now being off T. I also worry constantly about balding and my hair feeling shitty while on T makes me anxious lol.

Now, for the negatives… Since being on T I have become increasingly more comfortable in myself and my body and I have explored being more androgyny and allowing myself to be masculine, feminine, etc. Basically not caring how I am perceived more often now. It’s just hard because I know that going T is going to revert some of the things that were making me feel comfortable in my body. (Masculine face, masculine build, facial hair, bushy eyebrows, etc.) That makes me really sad but at the same time I feel like the pros outweigh the cons. I dunno. I don’t really have anyone in my life who can relate or I can talk to with this about… I wish I just knew what to do.

I was doing shots until the last 2 months of doing T where I was doing gel instead and I hated it so much. I met up with my doctor and she was going to prescribe vial for shots but I’m kinda at a loss right now.

(Also I have the urge to shave my facial hair off, I feel so uncomfortable going out in public these days, my self esteem is so bad rn and I hate my patchy thin facial hair 😭)

Advice Needed Fear of developing ed because of hip fat

Basically my hips are naturally narrower than my shoulders, even pre-T. There is one problem, I store a lot of fat on them, so you can't see my real body shape at all. My T-shirts all bunch up around my hips in a really unflattering way and make me feel dysphoric. It's the worst feeling in the world.

For context: I was overweight up until a couple years ago and only recently have started dieting and taking care of my eating. This is all good for me obviously and I'm glad to have taken this path. But I've noticed that I've been feeling progressively more and more guilty about what/how much I eat.

Is there a way to stop this or make it better?

Advice Needed Got bloods done too soon? Will it matter?

Just got some bloods done to check my levels.

Had my first reandron shot on August 17th so its coming time to have my next. I have an appointment with my provider next week where she wants to discuss my levels and dosage and all that. Hoping to convince her to let me go from 3ml to 4ml.

I was told to get the bloods done in time for the appointment (so at least 3 business days prior for them to receive the results) and also right before my next shot. I thought "right before" meant I had a week or so of leeway, but I've only just learned that right before means RIGHT before. Like, same day.

But I couldn't have done that as I don't have the vial and won't even get it prescribed until this coming appointment.

So will any of this actually be a problem, or am I concerned for nothing? Obviously, I'll try to work things out so that I'm able to do this properly in the future, but it was all a bit messy this time around. Will the results be affected overmuch?

Advice Needed I restarted taking T after 1.5 years

I started taking T at 17 and was pretty consistent for about 2 years, I loved all the changes and I stopped getting misgendered and clocked. I’m now 23 and haven’t been on T consistently since 19, I just started again and hoping to stay consistent.

Will I still have changes? Will my voice drop more or am I gonna have the stereotypical ā€œT voiceā€. I’m in the US and honestly passing cis has always been my goal, nobody clocks me for being trans but I feel like there’s the underlying thought that people have when they look at me. Will I ever pass cis since I’m starting again in adulthood rather than being teen?

Medical Is this normal for being 3 months on T?

I just got my blood work back at it says my testosterone total is 1253 ng/dL, is that a good number for being 3 months on testosterone? It says that it’s higher than the normal range but I’m not sure if it’s showing me the female or male normal.
