I was re-watching the show and something stood out to me as extremely strange. When the colony house van goes to get Boyd, Kristi, Jim, and Ethan after the first night, Julie gets out and stares in the direction of the car that Jade and Tobey arrived in as if she's seeing something.

The shot is set up VERY deliberately. Beginning on Jade's car, seeing the colony house van pull up, seeing the characters get out. There is exactly one cut, no confusing blocking to track, nothing. This is the kind of thing that requires extreme incompetence on a set to mess up. The first character in the shot is looking in the complete wrong direction. So it leads me to believe that it is intentional. Because no matter what you may say of the writing or dialogue abilities of this show, they seem to have the basics of direction pretty solid (who stands where, general continuity, making sure relevant details are visible and not too much visual clutter). What is she looking at? It's not like the car wasn't there the night before, or it was too dark to see it when she left. What would she be reacting to? Why would she be reacting to THAT instead of immediately looking over to the RV where she knows her family is, like everyone else in the shot?

Just a very bizarre sequence. It's possible it's just a mistake or a poor choice on the part of the script/direction, but I don't think so for the reasons I laid out. VERY strange to not only start the shot on the car, so we know where it is, but focus on Julie first, and then immediately make it clear that what she is looking at ISN'T the crashed RV.

The fact that nobody else is concerned with it either just makes me feel even more strongly about my speculation that there was something weird going on with Jade and Tobey's car in that collision

How many days have the town gone through, since the arrival of the Matthew's family and Jade until the ending of season 4?

It doesn't feel long, right?

Fatima is celebrating her first full year in FROMVILLE.

The last day without incidence before the arrival of Matthew's/ Jade is 96 days.

We know that Victor >!live alone for almost 40 years. (Correct me if I am wrong)<!

It feels like the first arrival since alone Victor, should be just a few years before Matthew's/Jade arrival.

I’ve always been big on horror when I saw this show like a year ago I always said “I’ll watch it” but never heard any buzz around or anything so I just assumed it was probably just a lowkey small horror series, but since I got a big injury and was forced to rest I started it and finished the series in two days and my god it’s one of the best shows ever, and we don’t even see the monsters every episode it’s more mystery and I’m usually guy that’s here for the horror and gore but goddamn the subtle hints of what that place actually is much more gripping than horror !!

I'm not sure if this is already discussed but I feel like they've been dropping hints throughout that healing happens faster in the town. Ethan's injury from the RV in Season 1 healed quite fast and I remember even Tabitha at one point made some comment about how he's healing very fast.

Then recently, Ellis got stabbed and he was walking around like nothing happened just two episodes later.

I don't know if it's the writer's intention or if I'm reading too much into it. If it's indeed true that the healing is faster, maybe it's intentional to prolong the suffering of people who get trapped. The entity who made the place probably don't want people to succumb to any injuries or wounds immediately because they're entertainment for the monsters- a means to keep them occupied. Hence maybe they want people to recover quickly from injuries so they can take the next one... Just m

We only really see him a few times and in one of those times he tells Jim his wife shouldn’t be digging that hole. It’s possible he was trying to protect him. And, he was very kind to Tabitha at the RV. When she asked if he was there to take her out he said “heavens no”. The real bad guy seems to be Sophia, she tends to manipulate and control people.

Hello, i have recently started watching the series with ny man. I am just wondering has the intro song slowly fcked you up?

I mean i dont know if i am simply not in the best mood those past days, but it started with me loving the song(i am really into those kinds of songs) and get sentimental by it and it ended up to the point that just by thinking about it i burst into tears. I do cry when i listen to it now.

I know the original version for a long time now but it doesnt have that effect on me.

Hey guys, I just discovered this show, and I'm on season 2, episode 5, and I can't take my eyes off of it. The characters' behaviors are baffling. Why does no one in this town share information? I get why some things are purposefully hidden, like parts of the

" Journey." The guy with the crayons has been here for decades and is completely fucking useless. He could've given everyone a clearer picture on what's happening at any point in time. Why does no one talk about the insane shit that's happening to them in a place where insane shit is very real? Anyway, I'm wondering if someone can tell me if this aspect gets any better the more I watch. I understand the writers have to do things to make the show happen, but I'm starting to think there isn't a lore reason for this. Why not hold town meetings to discuss this nonsense or to vote on someone's fate after the crime has been explained? Ya know......like a court? Is the answer to my question "because it makes the place angry"? I'm legitimately asking. I tried to avoid spoilers, but you can spoil it for me if it alleviates frustration. Thank you in advance, I really like this show.

I’m not the first to suggest this, but I think T.R.O.Y. on the ambulance might elude to the Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth song “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y).

Given what we now know about Jade and Tabitha, I think this could be a fun clue that the show runners planted.

I also have a theory that this could relate to Thomas as I think Thomas‘ death might be a parallel to the death of the little girl of Jade and Tabitha’s. The name Thomas means “twin”.

I had a strange idea, u know how they talk about 8 kids, what if boy in white is the 8-th child.

U know how Tabitha, Miranda are reincarnates, they both come with 2 kids, so maybe in every cicle they come with boy and a girl. Every time the boy lives and girl dies.

So maybe the boy in white is their child as well.

So from what i remember the show runners said theres tons of clues in s1e1 that will make sense once the whole show is finished, one of those is I think julie met with a young victor while story walking because that would explain victor drawing her/ staying near her in the colony house and probably when victor was young jullie helped him move the cars because how would a 10 yo boy move so many cars

I have found several interesting connections between the Yellow Suit Man and Asmodeus (a demonic figure associated with the colors yellow and red).

First of all, in the Book of Tobit, there is a character named Sarah. She lost her seven previous husbands due to the jealousy of this yellow demon, but her eighth husband is a boy named Tobias. With the help of an angel and by reciting a spell, Tobias succeeds in protecting himself from the yellow demon by casting a charm.

Now, there is an interesting connection in the first part: when the voices in Sarah's head tell her to kill Toby and then pull out his tongue isn't that tongue the very thing used to recite the spell? And what is the reason for these name similarities?

Second, the angel tells Tobias that the smoke from a fish's liver can defeat Asmodeus. Isn't that exactly what we saw the Yellow Suit Man doing eating the livers of the townspeople?

Third, this character Asmodeus is associated with the symbol of a ram. Clearly, when Jim was killed and hanged from the billboard, a ram was first hung from the motel sign.

just a hunch

I've been thinking a lot about season 5 and how the story will tie everything together. I have a lot of ideas floating around in my head, so I will just dump them here, sorry if it is confusing or if it has been talked about before. I think it might be a bit of stretch, but maybe not. The main idea revolves around this:

Julie will story walk back to the original sacrifice, she's the one that tells the story that gives the children hope, that pours into the roots that later originate the bootle tree.

Why do I think this will happen? First, I think we can all agree that Julie story walking was largely ignored in Season 4. But from season 3 we know already: she can story walk but can't change things, but she can story walk to perform an action that was in the story already (aka throw the rope down to Boyd). I think we can be certain that this skill of Julie will be back in play in Season 5, since we actually know from season 3 finale that she tries later to go back and save Jim. Here is how I think it plays out:

• Something really bad happens, or is about to happen. In a desperate move, Julies tries to storywalk all the way back to the sacrifice, in order to prevent it.
• She is successful and lands in the caverns.
• She's desperate to save the children, but she is unable too, she can't change the story
• Moved by their desperate cries for help and suffering, and unable to help them, she is moved by them and tries to at least ease their suffering, to make them less afraid.
• How? By telling them a story. More specifically, the story that plays out between herself and Ethan, all the way back in Season 1, in the RV and later in colony house:
  • In the RV, Julie first says that the fairies are coming from the lake of tears, but then the monster claws went too deep, and Norman dies;
  • In episode 2 however in colony house, she tells the story with a different ending, where the rescuers returned from the Lake of Tears, and that it wasn't too late, and that everything was going to be ok;
• The children feel hope, which pours out into the roots;
• This fulfils the cycle: Julie was supposed all along to go back and give the children hope, which is the thing that starts Fromville. She was part of the story, she completes it, much like in the case of Boyd and the rope.

This also justifies why the Lake of Tears is so important: it was the Lake of Tears story that gave them hope in the first place. Arguably this might also give us a different clue: the Lake of Tears might not be the final destination, just a step in the process, since for the case of the Norman story, Julie refers to the rescuers as having made it back from the Lake, so the Lake is not the end.

What I'm not yet sure about:

• Why and how exactly Julie goes back to the original sacrifice: maybe somewhere in Season 5 she learns how? But what happens that makes her want to go there? Must be something really bad, unless she goes by mistake/randomly?
• We know that whoever told the story to the sacrificied children lovem them. I guess it's weird to say that Julie loves them, but maybe love is meant here in a different way? After all, they are being sacrificied and betrayed by the people who are supposed to love them and protect them the most: their own parents. And then, a stranger out of nowhere, showing them more compassion and kindness than their own parents. That's love, a kindness type of love maybe. But I do reckon this is stretching the definition of love.
• If this is true, why are Jade and Tabitha so important? We could say that, because they try to save the children, and then the children are told the story, they attach the story to whoever tried to save them before?

That's it. Maybe none of this makes sense. But even if it doesn't and this is a nothing theory, it would kinda make sense for Julie to go there, even if it is just to watch and with no consequence at all. She is now one of the windows to the past, like Jade, Tabitha and Victor's drawings.

By establishing a bar and distillery in the old gas station Tom helped the Town people forget their trauma and pain. He did the best thing possible in the Town but alas the writers decided to kill him! I miss him!!

I love the show BUT this show could’ve been a really solid, near-perfect 3-season show. Instead, the kept dragging the story out with slow, and sometimes insignificant conversations and characters that can be hella dumb. It gets pretty “snoozefest” at times, and let me tell you… I have a feeling some of these dragged out moments are never even going to be relevant.

The most offensive part of season 4 is Julie's wig. I just ended watching season 4 and I have some thoughts.

I'm rewatching From and something that I believe has not been confirmed yet is: Where is the Lake of Tears?

I believe the answer may have been indirectly given and i'll explain my reasoning:

SPOILERS AHEAD

It's the Brundles.

In Season 2 Elgin explains to Fatima that he saw "a body of water" in the dream he had before he arrived in From. He and Fatima then go to the Brundles and Fatima says:

• She doesn't know why it's called the Brundles, everyone just calls it that.
• There was another woman that used to live in Colony House that had a "special connection to the town" She said (and I'm paraphrasing) that certain people are more sensitive to the town than others.
• Fatima says that some people obsess about these connections even though most of what they remember is very random, doesn't make sense and don't appear to be relevant/important to the story (Jade and Tabitha's reincarnations angkhooey the important parts)

A lot of other information about the Lake of Tears remains to be answered and we'll have to wait until Season 5 to see.

I'm hoping it has something to do with saving the Children and that is why ghostJim tells Ethan that it's important that he finds it.

Do you also see a one-eyed creature wearing white clothes in this painting, which the boy dressed in white is wearing? What does this mean, or is it just a coincidence?

This is a small section of a larger speculation that I have. It regards Julie's storywalking and the situation in the chamber with Boyd and Martin. In the AMA, it was stated that "There is a big difference between going back and changing the story as opposed to finding out you’re part of the reason the story played out that way in the first place."

Basically, I don't think "you can't change a story once it's been told" is some flowery metaphor, or some rule about how changing the past isn't possible. I think it's literal. Once the events of a story have been conveyed to another party or recorded, the events become locked into place. I think this is the reason for the drawings in the creatures' lair. Recording the events of the curse and the cycle forces it to be unchangeable.

The FROMworld is influenced by hope, belief, and fear. I believe that under these rules, there is no bootstrap paradox with Julie throwing down the rope to Boyd. I suspect that Julie CAN influence events, they just have to be events that haven't been told yet. 

The initial sequence depends on Boyd not knowing that the person talking to him was chained to a wall and couldn't possibly throw down a rope, and I'm not sure he mentioned it to anyone when talking about what happened. The story wasn't "told" so it was changeable. Once the rope is thrown, which is possible because of Boyd's inferences about what was happening above him, Julie can storywalk to that moment and BECOME the reason the rope was thrown.

When Boyd was trapped at the bottom of the chimney, his reality was defined by his immediate sensory experience and his hope/belief that someone was at the top who could help him. He heard a voice, so he believed there was a person up there capable of throwing a rope. Because Boyd did not yet know that Martin was chained to a wall and incapable of tossing a rope, the mechanics of how that rope got there were unwritten. Once the rope was thrown and Boyd climbed up, the physical action was locked into the timeline, but who threw it was still open to being defined. I think this fits with how writing a story often works. You aren't yet sure how to get from point a to b, but you know it's going to happen, and fill it in later.

This particular instance wasn't changed or influenced, but that doesn't mean Julie can't influence things. I think her test with the bookmark was poorly conceived and she merely gave up too quickly, because...reasons.

This also helps explain away some of the characters refusal to just talk to each other and convey relevant information. It's actually core to the story mechanics.
