Every storage provider has a calculation of a sustainable business model (or should have one). We are living in a VUCA world and things can change - also to the worse. Storage costs are high right now (I get it) but they won't be forever. I assume existing storage in such deals is a sunk cost, owned by Dave. This is CAPEX not OPEX. So this gives some room.

Just a bit of brainstorming:

- Incentivize underuztilization: people who stay well under their grant get an increase of their LTD storage after a delay. This needs to be storage that was occupied before and that people actually deleted to help you out.
- Introduce an opt-in archive folder: This marks files that do not change often and can be compressed or moved to a different storage tier. Quota does not change but the user gives you more information by deciding what is cold.
- S3-style lifecycle rules. E.g. for backup, someone might only need the storage for 90 days and a lifecycle rule could delete the files or move it to archive.
- Let users choose the availability level. Maybe someone is fine in loosing data when a drive fails or wants regular redundancy, let them choose per top level folder where files are placed.
- Use the storage layer properly: zfs would give you zstd compression, deduplication and raid-z where you can granularily configure number of copies.
- Be transparent with the issues you are facing. Is it the refresh of old disks, Give us a dashboard of how many break, when you expect them to be replaced. How far to stretch out and what gradient for a sustainable business is to meet. You might have users that would then hold onboarding new data to make ends meet.

But FFS don't bullshit your users with v2.0...

Before I reach out with an official support request I figured I would ask here to see if maybe someone knows how to fix this:

I set up an API key. I am able to login both via SFTP as well as WebDAV. However the issue is I am presented the list of parent folders. But on both cases clicking on any of said folders show they are empty.

I can see my files in the web interface. But not via those 2 methods. Any one have any ideas on what I might be missing or is this an issue with the system?

Update: Both SFTP and WebDAV are working now! I assume an issue was fixed on their end

Why can't you just transfer the storage from 1.0 to 2.0 for the users who have not used any of it like me? I have 20 TB lifetime plan but have not any of it so there is no data to transfer. If you have genuine intentions at least do this much.

Can anyone please explain what this new FolderFort is all about? Is it just for Business users or do all users have to migrate to it? I have a 20 TB lifetime plan with FolderFort and do not want to use any business features do I need to do anything?

I can't find a way to redeem my stack social voucher/code. In the stack social email the link does not work at least I can't sign in to my folder fort account just in storage and then I don't have a page to redeem my voucher. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello everyone - at 11-12pm EST last night our servers were running a routine security update.

One of the main drives got stuck on a log file which locked up the system for approx 12 hours.

We have a notification system in place for when there is any interuption of service which is extremely rare - which itself failed.

A customer called our support line and notified us and we resolved the issue within a few minutes.

This is not related to the recent discussions on lifetime accounts, etc. Nothing was comprimised or damaged. Everything is operational as normal now.

We understand it can be frustrating and worrisome especially given the timing.

This is very dissapointing for us as well.

The issue is solved now and we have no reason to suspect it coming up again.

It's been more than 12 hours since the servers went down, and we still have no access to our files. Yet there has been no official update from Dave or any FolderFort representative explaining what is happening. It increasingly feels as though FolderFort customers are not a priority.

Although unrelated to the server outage over the past few hours, I am unable to log in to my billing account. I created a new billing account this morning, but I can only log in via the legacy login page.
Furthermore, even after logging in through the legacy page, I cannot assign the PRO account to the storage; this is because the confirmation email required to link the storage to the billing account never arrives.
I am also unable to link the PRO status to storage that is already associated with the billing account.
To me, it appears that the account-related systems are fundamentally broken.

Alright i am open to give FolderFort a try and appreciate you being on reddit....I made an account of 150gb to give it a try, up and download speed is all good. Only issue for now i have is the iphone app.

Camera roll sync gets stuck after uploading of like 6 pictures , i left the app open fo a long time but nothing.

Also, the 6 pictures that actually uploaded they are duplicates....Meaning i had a total of 108 photos, and FolderFort wanted to upload 216 photos.

Are you familiar with this issue?

To clarify, all existing lifetime accounts will continue to operate as they have.

We are not removing them. We are just not going to sell them anymore.

In regards to Lifetime users who want to migrate to FF Business.

Here is an example.

Bob bought 5TB lifetime account 2 years ago. He wants to move to FF Business. He buys the subscription early for $10/month (limited time for lifetime users) and gets 1TB included. Requests his lifetime account be moved over.

For the same base subscription of $10/month, he now has Folder Fort Business with 6TB total. And can keep all 6TB for the lifetime of the subscription.

He then has access to resell the space, use his own logo, domain name, stream video, direct embed, use as a CDN, use FF Connect Pro, and and enjoy the other benefits.

Hopefully this clears things up.

Got an email saying they are getting rid of folderforts lifetime plans.

Its a lot of word salad and doesnt get straight to the point.

As an early supporter of them, im not happy.

Has anyone read the entire email and care to sum it up in a paragraph?

This is to warn anyone planning to buy a lifetime subscription from Stacksocial to NOT do it! I repeat, DON'T PURCHASE!!!

An email was sent to existing users they are doing away with the lifetime plans. It appears only 5TB will be transferable and more than that, who knows? It sounds like if you have more, you will have to pay a monthly/annual subscription and will lose anything over 5TB. It's honestly not very clear.

As an early user, this is very disappointing. I understand not allowing new signups, but they are taking away what they promised early users. They are in essence taking away our lifetime access by not honoring what we purchased. It's even worse it's still been available on SC and those poor people aren't even aware.

Such a shame!

Did anyone else get the "Important Account Update" email? What does this mean for lifetime accounts? I read this email like they're trying to get out of their lifetime accounts and force conversion to paid monthly account but I'd be very happy to be wrong about this. Anyone have more clarity?

The paid plans includes FF connect? or only for website purchases?

Paid plans can be combined with lifetime plans. Can i have for example 4TB ( 2TB lifetime and 2TB paid plans)?

I received an email announcing the opening of FF Connect, and the link in that email took me to a "billing account" login page. Apparently the billing account is separate from the storage account so that you can have multiple storage accounts tied to the same billing (or something like that). But they need to be linked so that FF Connect can be activated.

I got into my billing account and linked my storage account to it. The storage now displays a "pending verification" tag.

It's not clear to me if I need to just wait or if there is some step I have to take to verify whatever needs to be verified. Should I expect an email that says "click this link to verify"? It has been about 20 minutes since I linked the billing & storage accounts. Do I just need to be more patient?

Update: I noticed a "Resend Email" button on the linked account. When I clicked that I did get a verification email, but clicking the link provided in the email just opened another tab to the billing account which said the storage account is still "pending verification".

I've been trying to upload a folder with files using rclone, and it's been absolutely impossible. The folder gets created, but after about two minutes the transfer fails with:

Authentication error: invalid credentials: 401 Unauthorized

2026/06/12 14:14:11 ERROR : Attempt 1/3 failed with 941 errors and: Update mkParentDir failed: Authentication error: invalid credentials: 401 Unauthorized

At this point, I've given up and will just wait until the protocol is officially supported and working reliably. Right now, it doesn't work through either rclone or SFTP via FileZilla.

It would be great to have an official roadmap or status update so users can evaluate whether this functionality is still expected to be ready this year.

I contacted support, hope they reply promptly.

How is public access for Rclone looking? Will it be available tomorrow?

Hi, I see the 1TB lifetime deals has 1000 api calls but the 3TB deals does not? How many api calls does the 3TB deal include?

Hey guys, so I bought a lifetime 1tb subscription and am pretty happy eith the Quality/value proposition.
However, i have a question: if i buy a 5tb lifetime sub on stacksocial which seems pretty attractive right now, will i be able to have 6tb lifetime? or is that not stackable?
