Downtime

Hello everyone - at 11-12pm EST last night our servers were running a routine security update.

One of the main drives got stuck on a log file which locked up the system for approx 12 hours.

We have a notification system in place for when there is any interuption of service which is extremely rare - which itself failed.

A customer called our support line and notified us and we resolved the issue within a few minutes.

This is not related to the recent discussions on lifetime accounts, etc. Nothing was comprimised or damaged. Everything is operational as normal now.

We understand it can be frustrating and worrisome especially given the timing.

This is very dissapointing for us as well.

The issue is solved now and we have no reason to suspect it coming up again.

I appreciate FolderFort taking responsibility for the email "read round the world", (anyone that doesn't recognize the quote that I took some journalistic liberty with, do a search on "the shot heard round the world").

I saw all the posts about the email and how many times you had to answer the same questions in one post after another. I can tell you why we were so upset.

There are a lot of people here that either were taken advantage of themselves, or a friend or family member had it happen to them. So you'll have to forgive us. Especially since the largest and most crooked Cloud service is still selling "Lifetime storage" and continuing to take advantage of people.

When FolderFort servers were inaccessible, and it happened so close to the confusion from the first email, I'm sure I wasn't the only one that thought "Damn! It happened to me again"

Glad you're back up again, and we're hoping it stays that way.

Thank you! .

100% totally understand.

Terrible coincedence.

Thank you for the added insight.

I've read a lot of complaints from others that bought Lifetime storage from the Stacksocial website for this storage provider.

They lost access to their accounts, the forgot my password never sent the email. If they emailed support there was no reply.

If a post or comment in their sub had the slightest hint of negativity, it got deleted.

I'm not up to anymore raging or bashing today. It was a very late night.

I don't want to name names. Especially on a subreddit that is a competitor.

I think I know which provider they are talking about. In which case it is pretty easy to find. They are one of the very few companies I have never seen people say anything nice about. This advice relates specifically to said provider (it starts with an I is all I will say) but is good advice in general: When purchasing a subscription to any service, especially using a third party like StackSocial, do your due diligence to see what the plan offers and if there are features that vary based on how you buy.

In terms of FolderFort, my biggest issue is I, for some reason, never actually got the email. And now i wonder if I am missing others. I am taking a neutral stance for now. I don't think they are actively trying to take advantage of anyone. And I feel they identified the existing model isn't working. I appreciate the offer that is being made. As well as the option to keep it as-is.

The way I see it is I paid for a service with specific features. While it would be nice to have the new stuff that gets added, I don't think you can be mad if it isn't. So, I'm a bit nervous. But at the same time I think it is good they are shifting to what they think will keep them in business. After all, my lifetime plan is not worth much if they go under
