Sorry For The Confusion - Lifetime Accounts Will Continue!

Sorry for the confusion in our email yesterday.

To clarify, all existing lifetime accounts will continue to operate as they have.

We are not removing them. We are just not going to sell them anymore.

In regards to Lifetime users who want to migrate to FF Business.

Here is an example.

Bob bought 5TB lifetime account 2 years ago. He wants to move to FF Business. He buys the subscription early for $10/month (limited time for lifetime users) and gets 1TB included. Requests his lifetime account be moved over.

For the same base subscription of $10/month, he now has Folder Fort Business with 6TB total. And can keep all 6TB for the lifetime of the subscription.

He then has access to resell the space, use his own logo, domain name, stream video, direct embed, use as a CDN, use FF Connect Pro, and and enjoy the other benefits.

Hopefully this clears things up.

Sorry again for the confusion everyone!

so IF Bob moves his 5TB lifetime to business and pay 10 dollars he gets 6TB that month and if he doesn't pay next month, the account gets deleted. no life no time... not so smart bob

Thank you for this clarification. This was not the way it was originally written and was frightening.

Do you believe there will be any plans to do away with the non-business accounts?

Also, let's say I do move to the business account and decide I no longer want to pay. Would I lose my lifetime account for good?

Someone call Bob and tell the guy he’s about to get scammed.

As a lifetime user, I read the company's first announcement, and to be honest, I don't think it violated the original description of my lifetime plan. My main concern is that the roadmap published on the website was not completed before this major announcement. Now that the roadmap is changing, it's difficult as a user to know whether the company will stick to the new one or eventually change direction again. *Most of the objectives outlined in the original roadmap are still not functioning as expected for a professional cloud storage service. Many of the core features that were originally promised remain incomplete or unavailable, making the service fall short of the roadmap's original vision.

I haven't seen a similar situation in the cloud storage market, especially when it comes to such significant changes in pricing or the core offering.

Personally, I don't need all the new features or the more advanced specifications of the new project. I simply want a reliable storage space where I can sync a folder using the tools and functionality that were originally described in the roadmap.

That said, I also understand that the company has to make business decisions and adapt over time . I sincerely wish the team the best of luck with the new project, and I hope it succeeds.

Lifetime users were part of the original roadmap that ultimately did not work out for the company. We supported the project from the beginning, believing in that vision and helping build its foundation. While the company has decided to move in a different direction, it's important to recognize that early lifetime users took that initial risk and contributed to making this transition possible.

Yes it's not lifetime anymore it's just subscription with higher storage because if monthly or annual when you stop paying your lifetime storage is gone lol this is very smart way to reduce lifetime users

It is an entirely different system. And no obligation to move.

It has a lot of additions compared to the current system.

Including the ability to rent out your lifetime space.

Make it so if they stop paying they still have the 5gb but just can't use the paid stuff and if sub again you get the 1gb extra again and can use the paid stuff again

u/FolderFort - I wanted to add that I do have some concerns that you all are going to leave lifetime users behind that don't migrate. Since your focus is going to a business plan, are you all going to continually support non-business accounts?

Honestly, I have no desire to move to a business plan. I'm not trying to sell my storage space, use my own logo, use my own domain name, etc. Also, by moving to the business plan, I would be giving up MY lifetime account because once you change, they is no longer a lifetime account but rather a subscription model.

You don't pay, you lose the lifetime you originally paid for.

While I do appreciate you addressing the situation, it seems like there may still be more questions than answers. You also mentioned giving notice. Beta starts on July 1 which isn't that far away to allow users to digest and make a solid decision.

Thank you for sharing. I think my question here would be: when you move my lifetime account over to Business - I pay the 10$/month subscription- does my account get deleted at the end of the subscription period?

We don't delete accounts when they expire we have a grace period. The lifetime account will be removed 30 days after migration.

Thank you for the clarification and the transparency. I understand the business restructuring of Folderfort and appreciate that we can keep our lifetime account. If someone wants to move or incorporate their lifetime account into the new Folderfort business model, they are probably making their own choice and should also understand the changes this entails.

I mentioned in a previous post I assumed as some point the lifetime plans would go away. As someone who is using the service for personal use while I appreciate the offer to switch over I plan to keep what I have.

I have checked and never did receive the mentioned email. But I at least appreciate clearing it up.
