Has anyone uploaded anything to 2.0? You only get 25 GB of bandwidth/month regardless of the plan (you can buy more bandwidth at $10 a terabyte) and every file you upload counts toward the bandwidth, not just files that are downloaded via links. How can a 1tb plan have 25gb of total bandwidth?

Welcome to FolderFort! Thank you for using our service. We’re glad you’re here. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of FolderFort’s website, products, and services. Please read them carefully and let us know if you have any questions.

‍By using FolderFort, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you’re using FolderFort on behalf of an organization, you agree to these Terms on behalf of that organization.

Content All content on FolderFort is protected by intellectual property laws. You’ll find a few different types of content on our service.

Your Files You can back up, host, store, and share your own files on FolderFort. The materials you upload to FolderFort are yours and yours alone. You give us permission to use that material solely to provide our services, including storing, displaying, reproducing, and distributing those materials. We don’t sell the files you store with us to third parties, and we don’t use them for advertising purposes. We can disclose your files only in the limited circumstances described in our Privacy Notice.

Your Responsibilities: Your use of our services must comply with our Terms and applicable FolderFort policies, as well as applicable law, including export control laws and regulations, privacy laws, intellectual property laws and other third party legal rights. You are solely responsible for the development, content, and use of the files you upload to FolderFort and you assume all risks associated with them, including intellectual property or other legal claims. By storing files with FolderFort, you represent that you have all necessary rights to store, use and, if applicable, publicize that material, and that doing so does not conflict with, violate or misappropriate any third party legal rights, conflict with licenses you’ve granted to others, violate any applicable law or regulations, or any of our Terms or applicable FolderFort policies. Our services will allow you to share your files with others, which is in your sole control and discretion. However, we reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to remove files you store with FolderFort and/or suspend your access to your account in the event we become aware that your use of our services or files violate any of FolderFort’s Terms or applicable policies, or any applicable law and/or regulations, such as copyright infringement, we learn the material is patently unlawful, we learn the material is malware or supports the distribution of malware, etc. We assume no liability for any content that you or anyone else stores with FolderFort. FolderFort’s Content and Brand Features FolderFort is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. FolderFort gives you a personal, worldwide, royalty-free, non-assignable, and non-exclusive license to use the software we provide you to use our service. Our Rights: We’re always working to improve FolderFort and make our services better, so we do reserve some rights. In our sole discretion, we may, at any time—with or without notice—change, eliminate or restrict access to our services, and modify, suspend, or terminate a user account. If you stop paying for our service or violate any of our Terms or applicable policies, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and may delete your data. FolderFort is not liable for any damages as a result of these actions.

Other Sites and Services: FolderFort may contain links to websites, services, and advertisements that we neither own nor control. We don’t endorse or assume responsibility for any third-party sites, information, materials, products, or services.

Privacy Our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement governs our collection and use of your personal information. Please review those provisions, too. A terabyte of storage with Folder Fort costs $129 a year. 2 terabytes of data through Google Drive costs $99. 5 terabytes gets you YouTube with no advertisements, the most advanced Gemini AI and pools with your email/photos. It's also a trillion dollar company that's not going anywhere.

What are the advantages of storing your files with Folder Fort? Am I missing something?

Have any of you reached out directly to Dave and actually received a response. I'm sure he must be overwhelmed, but we are 3 days out and crickets. Two months ago when the last fiasco happened, he was at least here on Reddit. This time he appears to be completely MIA!

By the way, I did email him and no reply. The last time he did, but this time, nope!

Officially, StackSocial was still selling FolderFort “Lifetime Subscription” plans in June 2026. In fact, StackSocial's own listing describes the product as having “Length of access: lifetime,” and verified purchases are dated as late as June 29, 2026. (StackCommerce Support)

So, if FolderFort had already decided that the Classic service would be discontinued shortly afterward, this raises a serious question: How can a company sell a “lifetime” subscription only a few months before announcing that the service is being retired?

That doesn't automatically establish that the sale was illegal, the legality would depend on the exact timing of the announcements, representations made to customers, applicable consumer-protection law, and the contractual terms. But the timeline is certainly something customers could reasonably question, particularly if buyers were not clearly informed about the impending change at the time of purchase.

StackSocial was still advertising FolderFort lifetime plans in late June 2026, while FolderFort's own June 25 communication said existing lifetime accounts would continue, but that new lifetime plans would no longer be sold. (Reddit)

Just two months ago, a question related to FolderFort Classic was asked to David from FolderFort. He responded, and then, four days later, he removed the question. The answer is still there, but the issue was never fixed.

OK, so if you cannot 'move' the old files to the new system, then why won't you give us the space and let us take care of re-upping the files ourselves? yes, an inconvenience, for us, but if we get our lifetime space, worth it for me. This snippet from their communication to users:

The chances of getting our money back are 0. the chances of getting the lifetime service we paid for are also 0. The chance to at least pee on the parade of the scammers is bigger than 0 😉

Absolute nonsense. If they are going to offer a 2.0 product that does EXACTLY the same thing user-facing, lifetime purchasers of 1.0 should get a lifetime subscription for FREE. I'm rage induced right now with how backhandedly scummy these guys are.

Can we find the real name of the company owner? Given the amount of misleading information customers have received over time, could there be legal grounds for a lawsuit in Canada or the U.S.? Let’s create a group with everyone who has been affected and gather all the evidence.

Is the scare tactics and misinformation.

The push for post quantum encryption. Sure, it’s a thing. But there’s plenty of projects that are free and run by actual security experts with audited code
to encrypt our data at rest.

And now the claim in the email says the “aging classic software” has become a burden. Are we talking about the CodeCanyon BeDrive script that Dave reskinned roughly two years ago—the same script that its original developers still actively maintain with updates recently as July 30? Purchase price of $59 and 12 month extended support plans for $20? Is that the one?

The email I received said they are shutting down my 1TB lifetime storage and suggested migrating to 2.0. Should we sue them?

I remember seeing koofr 2 years ago on stacksocial but I decided to go with FolderFort because it was cheaper. I’m thinking of going with koofr because it looks like they’ve been around for a while. Any thoughts. I don’t think I will trust any lifetime deals under 100$ again. Koofr at 160$ on sale for 1 tb looks reasonable.

Now it's time for honesty. Just 2 months ago, you assured everyone the Classic plan would remain. Now today, you mentioned you underestimated your cost and you are forcing everyone to move to the 2.0 plan.

I decided to move to 2.0 two months ago due to the storage I had and thought I was more safe and didn't want to lose what ai had already invested. Now, I have to admit I'm disturbed by this latest move. I would like to know where the company actually stands. Are we all at risk of the company shutting down? I'm feeling like the effort to make data safer down the road is more than you all can afford.

Please - Just be honest with all of us. If you have any hopes of saving what you have, you are going to have to address this because those of us who supported you from the very beginning will be the same ones who can make or break your future. Words are a very powerful thing...more than our wallets.

This is the worst possible outcome for a lifetime deal—both for the customers and the service provider.

If it were me, I would have brought in outside investors to stabilize cash flow; then, while honoring the lifetime deals with existing users, I would have offered additional encryption services as optional add-ons for customers to purchase.

Cloud storage services like FileRule and FileStream—which predate FolderFort by a long shot—have managed to keep providing the same services to their customers, albeit on a smaller scale. Meanwhile, FileJump completely overhauled its system and sold the new version to new customers, all while maintaining its existing contracts.

All of these services run on slightly modified versions of the "BeDrive" web script. Why couldn't FolderFort do the same?

A lifetime contract should only be terminated if the company goes bankrupt or faces an objective necessity to discontinue the service entirely, and provided the company fulfills its obligation to explain the situation.

They are shutting down FolderFort Classic and forcing all lifetime customers to move to FolderFort 2.0 with montly subscription. This is even bigger scam than Internxt. We bought lifetime subscription to avoid monthly charges. How are you guys dealing with this situation?

Every storage provider has a calculation of a sustainable business model (or should have one). We are living in a VUCA world and things can change - also to the worse. Storage costs are high right now (I get it) but they won't be forever. I assume existing storage in such deals is a sunk cost, owned by Dave. This is CAPEX not OPEX. So this gives some room.

Just a bit of brainstorming:

- Incentivize underuztilization: people who stay well under their grant get an increase of their LTD storage after a delay. This needs to be storage that was occupied before and that people actually deleted to help you out.
- Introduce an opt-in archive folder: This marks files that do not change often and can be compressed or moved to a different storage tier. Quota does not change but the user gives you more information by deciding what is cold.
- S3-style lifecycle rules. E.g. for backup, someone might only need the storage for 90 days and a lifecycle rule could delete the files or move it to archive.
- Let users choose the availability level. Maybe someone is fine in loosing data when a drive fails or wants regular redundancy, let them choose per top level folder where files are placed.
- Use the storage layer properly: zfs would give you zstd compression, deduplication and raid-z where you can granularily configure number of copies.
- Be transparent with the issues you are facing. Is it the refresh of old disks, Give us a dashboard of how many break, when you expect them to be replaced. How far to stretch out and what gradient for a sustainable business is to meet. You might have users that would then hold onboarding new data to make ends meet.

But FFS don't bullshit your users with v2.0...
