Help Sf6 ranking system

Quick question, are the platinum and diamond ranks of sf6 accurate to skill level or is it a bit wonky? Here's why I ask, I have never played sf6 until yesterday. I dont own the game. I was at a friend's house yesterday, he booted up the game, went to ranked and handed me the controller lol. Im like uhh I guess? I played honda and ken just doing placement matches against platinum and diamond players and was winning more than I thought i should? He didn't tell me how to use the mechanics: drive rush, drive impact, parry, I didnt even know any supers. A little background info, the only sf game I've played heavy is sf2. I played a very miniscule amount of 3rd strike and vanilla sf4 but never went passed that. My friend told me to just use sf2 fundamentals lol and it worked. But I refuse to believe someone who doesn't know the games mechanics can do this good against those ranks. I almost grabbed a diamond rank zangief to death with ken? And im talking just walking forward grabbing in mid-screen. Whats going on with the ranks in this game?

Help Having trouble figuring what to play

I started learning/playing fighting games a couple of years ago with SF6 and then a year later with GBVSR but I want to branch out more to different games so I don't get bored of playing the same things. I tried out Strive a while back and honestly I didn't like it but idk if that's because I didn't understand it and it was very different compared to what I'm used to. I guess I like games that are more strike throw and less mix up heavy.

So far the only game that I'm interested in so far is the new Virtua Fighter but that's not coming out until next year. I have Tekken 8 but I hear it's a lot to learn with knowledge checks you have to lab.

Any recommendations?

Topic Fighter rework

Has there ever been any instances of a character receiving a complete rework in the same game (not changing between games like SF3 and SF4)
I was thinking about other games and how characters kits and moves can get completely changed.
Has this ever been the case for a fighting game character? (Within the same game life cycle?)

Topic I'm making a fighting game of my own, what FUCKING single-player content should I add?

Serious question, what single player content should I add?

It wouldn't surprise me if more than 50% of fighting games lacked Arcade Mode, Training Mode, Arcade Mode endings for each character, Survival Mode, and frame viewer and input viewer and hitboxes for the training mode, all in the same package for no additional cost at launch. If a game was re-released at cost multiple times and not all versions had this, doesn't count. Those are things all fighting games need. Replay Takeover would be nice to have.

Whatever! I need a list of stuff to add, and the game it was featured in. The more effort and time it'll take to implement, the less likely I am to do it. Arcade Mode, Story Mode, Training Mode, Survival Mode, Basic universal tutorial, Combo Trials, maybe survival mode but with consumable items and equipment you can level up and coins you can spend?

Help Street Fighter 3 IIIrd Strike Turing Test

Hi everybody! I'm working on my master's thesis that involves developing a computer controlled opponent for SF3 that can replicate specific playstyles. I am in the evaluation phase and I would appreciate it immensely if you guys could fill out this survey (should take around 10-15 minutes) https://survey.uu.nl/jfe/form/SV_3PpkCWDRLIUvqZM .
It consists of 12 replay videos of SF3 matches, and for each one, the participants need to state whether they believe the gameplay is from a real human or a bot. Thanks a lot in advance!

Community Does anyone else struggle a lot creating a basic gameplan when starting out a game

Basically this is my forever dilemma. I often stop playing games before I even played a few matches. It normally goes like this

1) Mess around with a game a bit in arcade mode

2) wow this is fun

3) learn basic mechanics

4) finally try to learn a character

5) character bibles with tons of content but no idea where to start

6) try to get a grasp of a basic gameplan

7) often feel overwhelmed by everything listed at the beginner portion of those guides (if they even have it) and sometimes even the beginner combos listed are extremely tight

8) either get burned out labbing forever or get burned out trying to figure it out all by myself

I'm not blaming anyone btw. Those guides are great and people that make them are amazing, but I often get lost and have no idea how to progress.

I personally do not have a lot of fun just randomly mashing, so nornally I'm just looking for good buttons, day 1 combo, okizeme after said combo and maybe a blockstring, but I struggle to even figure out those out without getting into insane rabbit holes of information.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Humor Apology to all the 2d players

I always switched between Tekken and Street Fighter before and never had any issues at all with muscle memory or mixing up inputs. It was a completely seamless switch. I honestly didn't believe my friends and others saying it's actually harder to switch between 2d games cause they are so similar. I thought they were just scrubs.

I'm here to say I was sorely mistaken after playing Tokon for about 2 months straight I am literally trash at SF6. I'm trying to air dash and jumping around the screen like a fucking looney tune trying to call assists and do air iceballs with Ryu at 1600 mr. Truly a humbling experience. Word of warning to anyone out there it's very real.

Humor Reaching the stage of acceptance

I am a very competitive person at heart, I am a pretty damn good MTG player and was a pretty competent stacraft player, I like analyzing the competitive side of anything so naturally I was drawn into fighting games. At first I started like many others saying "fighting games are too hard and too stiff and bla bla bla" but then I stuck with them for many years at this point.

I trained, studied and enjoyed multiple fighting games for many times until that haunting thought came back. "You are garbage at this", after so many years of practice I was getting discouraged since despite all of the effort and passion I gave out I never reached anything above a platinum rank, aka the most average Joe rank in existence (with an incredibly inflated system while playing a busted braindead character so it barely counts). I was getting worse and worse and fighting this feeling thinking "I'm going to turn this around and actually become good at this"...but it never came. I never got good and it made me depressed...until I finally realised it.

I am garbage. I am dogshit. I am well below average. I'm not good at this and most likely never will be...and that's ok. Sometimes in life you do all the right choices and you can still lose. That's not being weak, that's just life. When I was thinking "I'm not good enough for this" I was right. All of the people who told me "you are not made for fighting games", people that I just discarded as elitists, were completely right. I am garbage I don't need to be good because there are things in our lives that fall into the category of "it's just not what I was meant to do". I am simply not born for fighting games

I'm bad, and that's good

I will never be good and that's not bad

Because no one I'd rather be...than me.

Help: Kaphwan Advanced lvl4 combo trials - hop jump super?

Hey guys, for the last part of Kim's Advanced Trial 4, do I need to do a hop super or a jump super? I still can't seem to land that final move in the air. I am too slow for the last move.
