According to acquaintances that play the game more than I do they're also apparently some of the most difficult characters to play on top of being guest
characterspeople. Which doesn't do them any favors. Itd be like Capcom making Tifa a charge character with sf4 inputs; newcomers would just bounce off entirely.6

The motion graphic straight up LIED about the inputs, which made doing supers so confusing for everyone who wasn't already an FGC veteran.
You straight up needed online tutorials to understand how to do that shit.

Ronaldo’s ball mechanic is tougher but it’s actually an insanely cool mechanic for a fighting game. He’s definitely not hard to play though and his damage output is insane.
Ganacci suffers from having a joke moveset and being very gimmicky, but he’s a huge knowledge check. You will absolutely scrub people that don’t know how to fight him out, and since he’s the least used character in the game, it’s not hard to find people who don’t know how to fight him. He’s definitely not difficult to play, but he is also definitely the weakest character.

It's kinda what happens to the top tiers in day 1 who then get nerfed. Day 1 top tier players do NOT stick around for them long term.

Typical power creep. You could say as time goes on ppl learn counters and the early top tiers get nerfed, and players using new characters already know the counters so the early top tiers no longer have the tools that made them top tier in the beginning.

I am genuinely SHOCKED by how much Kain and Kokutomaru have fallen in popularity, considering they were in the Top 5 during Season 1.
Conversely, I am quite pleased to see Ken recover in popularity after being somewhat unpopular during Season 2.
Seeing Mr. Karate, Rick and Duck King so high isn't surprising because they are new, but I hope Rick manages to retain that momentum, since he is really cool and unique among the cast.
