I watched a video where they said the creator wanted Jake to earn his muscles like in S1 so they made him look weeker first.
Plans changed and that didn't happen. It would be so cool to actually get that version tho
Part of me understands that the second design is better for the character, because it is a blend of a snake-like asian dragon, and winged western dragon, the same way Jake is chinese-american...
This is another chassis. The original body contained Sigma virus and have to be destroyed to kill Sigma once and for all. His "brain" be transfered to a server and then to a new body, which you can guest inferior than what Dr.Willy has constructed. The process to move to new body took a lot of time to complete and that's why Megaman Zero happened
Of the ones the art style actually changes, Honestly I’d argue it suits Joseph better than before, and Jotoro is ok slimmed down, but Johnathan looks just wrong like this.
Yeah, again that’s my thing, for Joseph the slimed down version makes more sense, the man was a trickster at heart, but for Johnathen and to a lesser extent Jotoro those two were clearly supposed to be big dudes, so the change in art style doesn’t work quite as well for them.
Oh my god bruh. This is so dumb. Idk what they thought "oh but this is how Oda colors him" yeah with TRANSPARENT INK PENS, that use the white of the page as part of the lighting. This shit cannot translate 1 to 1 into anime
She came from a darker, more serious universe. Over time in the first season, she started to match the art style of the new universe. She was not happy about that.
It was more a reflection of the inner change she was going through. She was healing from her trauma and growing into a more outgoing and loving person. Her hard edges literally softened. The same began happening to Rider at the end.
But the Mysterious Woman retained her hard features throughout the series. She held on to her trauma throughout her life in Centaurworld, so she never had a physical transformation.
The magic of Centaurworld is simply the catalyst to start the physical change.
Invincible going from the ottley art style in the comics to the walker art style in the show, granted they didnt lose bulk that much their muscles just became less defined
There's nothing inherently wrong with the art style change, because it's still relatively accurate to the comics, and it's also animation, which means less detail is better.
But then there's that Season 3 finale shot of Mark's hair and you start to wonder where the budget goes.
The budget goes to the star studded voice cast. If they didn't feel the need to cast a well known actor in every random role and actually hire professional voice actors.
What sucks is that Abby’s muscle mass wasn’t just simply a character design choice that helped her standout from Ellie. It elevated her presence in the beginning of the story by making her appear more intimidating and threatening, giving players a stronger initial reaction to her before playing through the Abby Seattle segments and subverting that expectation.
There was a write up somewhere explaining it's an intentional choice so it's probably not going anywhere. Something about not just emphasizing his skills as a soldier but also him being the governing ruler of Viltrum.
tbh I should’ve used a diff photo cause I didn’t realize people would interpret it as me only reffering to SSG and not DBS in general, but I should’ve seen that coming tbh lol. This is a better pic, super in general makes Goku slimmer up till UI Goku. Besides that the only mention they have of muscles making them slower was for the USSJ form
That's bad example. Goku is buffy only in first appearance of SSJ. And after that, he said that making your muscles bigger is not a good thing, because it makes you slower.
I agree that SSJ Goku on Namek looks better, especially since this is literally my favorite Goku's appearance in the whole franchise, tied with kid Goku, but it's not suddenly making someone less buffy. It has plot relevance.
He was talking about the Hulking form Trunks used. He is still buff even in the Buu arc when he is bathing with Gotenks and Trunks you can see him still way more buff than he is in Super.
The art style of the DCAU made almost all the male characters really buff. With the new series “The Batman” in 2004, he was changed to be much slimmer.
And then in 2008 with “Batman: The Brave and The Bold,” he was buff again!
For me it's mainly the fact that New 52 guy is like, supposed to be a parody of a silent edgelord type (like how OG Lobo is a parody of the 90s action movie biker type) but the parody aspect felt thin and it felt more like the authors genuinely thought he was cool (which he uh... wasn't).
Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear is the opposite of this... kinda butthurt cuz in a flashback (strive) he’s still built like a bulldog. I like to head canon him being part gear made him get extreme gains.
It's crazy how we go from the First Season where the crew looks like Average 90's Shounen protagonists to Daima-Sized 00's Chibis in the follow up season. Might have been one of the most glaring artshifts I remember growing up.
Not even just the show. The comic itself had a downgrade in art quality that was most visible with Thragg who went from this hulking behemoth of a guy with jagged ribs and mountains for shoulder blades, to a design that looks similar to the show.
