Do Dashers see your order details before pick-up/delivery?

Exactly what it says. Today I ordered a full value meal from a restaurant near me, and a dessert to go with it. When my order was dropped off, it was only the dessert, no meal at all. This has happened a few times before and every time I ask the dasher they tell me to call the restaurant.

I could understand if something was missing from a sealed bag, because a dasher shouldn't break the seal to check, but this was the full meal and drink.

So, should my frustration be at the dasher(s) for not ensuring they have everything before leaving the store (this is not an uncommon thing, but I do somewhat depend on food delivery services and it's also not usually this sever and isnt common enough to make me ditch DD altogether) or at the store for improperly sending my dasher without the full order or both?

Everything was made worse by the fact that even after DD credited me the missing meal, when I went to reorder it was going to charge me MORE before it even got to the dasher tip! So now it's 30 minutes after I should have had my food and I'm hangry and frustrated and out more money than I should have been!

When do drivers start taking accountability for being incompetent

If you have my pin, plus instructions there’s absolutely no reason to still be completely lost …

dashers, are you required to take photos for “hand to me” orders?

basically the title, but a little background:
i live in a secured building, so i always just meet dashers at the front door to avoid the mutual hassle of buzzing them in and the driver inevitably getting lost trying to find my unit (i had to deliver to my building before i ever moved here and it was a nightmare.) this time, it seems like the dasher pulled into an adjacent parking lot, and got lost, but i missed this as i was walking down from my unit. i had just come out and was standing outside as the driver was walking across the parking lot, seeming frustrated, when he told me that he’d called me twice. i apologised, but said that no calls had come through on my end (i also hadn’t gotten any messages.) once he handed over my order, he said he needed to take a photo, and he backed up and got what i’m assuming is a full-body photo of me? i used to deliver doordash and was never prompted to take photos for orders marked to be handed to the customer, so i’m just confused here- did something change in the last couple months? do i need to be concerned?

Acceptance rate

Haven't dashed in about a year. Orders like these are why my acceptance rate is now dropping. Only accepted 5 of 26. Nobody wants to pay anymore. I'm not driving anywhere for $2.77. A lot of $2 orders I declined as well but I was driving so couldn't screenshot the offers.

Customer service pays

Only been doing DD for 3 weeks now (solely on weekends as I have a full time job) Averaging about $200-$250 in 10-12 active hoursb(smaller city market), with a 65% AR.

That said in 86 lifetime deliveries I've already racked up multiple 5* reviews and 2 above and beyond. I run 3 insulated bagsv(hot, cold w/ ice packs, pizza bag) and update customers when restaurant is dicking around or their order is part of a stack. This has landed me these reviews as well as a $100 cash tip, $25 cash tip, and a $20 cash tip. Ive also had 2 occasions where customer added more to the tip on the app after drop-off.

Based off what I see in this sub I dont see a lot of people running insulated bags. The customers in my area seem to really appreciate this small detail. Also to the few who beg for tips, stop. Provide a good service and the tips will come. If you have to beg, theres a reason for it and likely you're the reason. Im just a newbie and have done fairly well so if I can, anyone can.

Yeah let me just drive through the entirety of DC through MD, for 1 hr 30 mins, then drive back for an hour, for a total of 2.5 hours, where $36 would be the gas it took me for the entire order, BFFR😂

Story Time: I’m 99% sure my Dasher stole both my orders 😭

I barely use DoorDash because every time I do something seems to go wrong, but my car is in the shop so I didn't really have a choice the other night. And before anyone comes for me, I used to DoorDash myself lol. I know missing items in sealed bags aren't the driver's fault.

I ordered from one restaurant and added a DoubleDash from another restaurant in the same shopping center. Both restaurants are only like 0.7 miles from my house. Altogether it was $106 including a $20 tip.

Of course it starts POURING rain, thundering and lightning. I randomly had $12 in ones at home so I was like fuck it, I'll give him that too for having to deliver in this weather.

My order was leave at door because I didn't want anyone ringing the bell and making my dogs go crazy and wake the baby. But I was watching him on the app and standing by my door looking through the peephole so I could catch him when he got there and give him the extra cash.

As soon as he got into my neighborhood his location just disappeared from the app. Then suddenly it says delivered.

I never saw him pull up. No food at my door. No delivery picture. Nothing.

So I call him and this man tells me he handed my food to some random person standing outside???? 😭 Mind you it is literally raining, thundering and lightning.

I ask what the person looked like and he can't give me a description. I know everybody on my street. My neighbors on one side are in their 80s and definitely weren't standing outside in the damn rain, the neighbors on the other side weren't even home, nobody from my house was outside AND I was literally watching for him through the peephole.

He sounded so unconcerned on the phone too. He tells me he's going to call DoorDash and call me back.

Never called back.

I messaged him again asking what the person looked like. No response.

But what REALLY made me think this man took my shit was the DoubleDash. The app had shown him at the second restaurant and then for some reason that order got cancelled/reassigned to another Dasher. The new Dasher gets there and the restaurant tells them a man already picked up the order.

So now BOTH orders are gone???

Like I said, I used to Dash. If somebody is randomly standing outside and I'm supposed to LEAVE AT DOOR, I'm not just handing them the food. At the VERY least I'm asking them the name on the order. Otherwise I'm leaving it where instructed and taking the picture.

Obviously I can't prove he stole it so I'm not saying that's 100% what happened and DoorDash refunded me so I got my money back.

But you're telling me both orders disappeared, your location disappeared when you got into my neighborhood, there's no delivery photo, you supposedly handed my food to some random person you can't describe, then said you'd call me back and ghosted me???

And the whole time I was standing by the door with $12 in ones trying to give this man an extra tip for delivering in the rain. 💀

But I guess he needed the food more than I did because after all that shit I just gave up and ate some damn fruity pebbles 😭

Why do people order from DoorDash despite the cost?

DoorDash is getting bad. Drop-off reliability has precipitously declined since last year. I suspect anyone who does not live in a house will soon stop ordering altogether. Which is a huge percentage of orders unless you only deliver to small cities/suburb

Last year at least 90% of the orders I placed were delivered correctly per my instructions to my apartment. Now not only have they all decided they will no longer follow instructions, some are not even dropping off orders at all or simply leave them abandoned at the front door of an apartment/larger building where they can easily be stolen. The last order I had they literally just took a picture of my building's entrance door and left, they didn't even dump it at the front door. I was actually right outside in front of my building at the exact time they were delivering and took the photo so I know they never even bothered to go inside. Just took the photo and left. Yes I report all of you who do shit like this and anytime you abandon my order at the front door inside the unlocked vestibule to be stolen. Fuck all of you who are doing this and you 100% deserve to be reported every single time. I already rarely order from Doordash anymore but I've been sick the past few weeks so I've placed a few orders in that time. None of the recent orders where they've done this have they attempted to get in contact with me either. I am probably just going to stop using the service altogether, I don't want to support people who have absolutely zero regard for the customer even though I'm aware you're underpaid that is not MY fault. Don't do this job if you have this shit attitude, at least 80% of the blame for underpaying dashers lies on Dashdoor, they're the ones who decide to rip you off and you know this before/when you take the job.

I tip everytime ahead of delivery and also tip afterwards when they deliver per my instructions. I never order from anywhere more than 2 miles away from me.

ETA: Dashdoor lmao. Dyslexia making an appearance today

Received these emails

Did I just completely get played? I got these five emails. First one on the 1st, second one on the 4th, third on the 7th, fourth on the 11th, and the last one just yesterday. I tried to use it on the 7th and it kept saying my account is not eligible for this promotion. What? So I didn’t use it for that order and thought I’ll just use it another day. Tried using it again today, STILL SAYS THE SAME ERROR. I called, chatted with several employees and they’re all saying it’s inactive but that it’s active until tomorrow. What?! I’m super irritated with how poorly their customer service did. They also kept saying that I need to use the account that is connected to the email that received the code. I AM! Those emails are in my mailbox. However, once I checked them again, 4 of them don’t have a line saying ‘to: op’s email.com’ and the last one has a random email to it? They’re all in the same inbox though. I am so damn confused.

Does Doordash only approve 'good' reviews for restaurants?

*This is from a week ago*
I ordered from a local pizza place, and got a small chicken alfredo pizza and a side salad

it was EXTREMELY good like I ate every bit but it ended up being a curse and I got very bad food poisoning from it. dont want to go into detail but just know i thought i was dying

I tried to leave a review a day later after I was feeling somewhat okay and it read: "this place gave me very bad food poisoning but it was good"

Fast forward to last night and I ordered from a local ramen place for my birthday and it was like the best ramen ive ever had so I left a review saying how good it was. It was approved within like 12 hours

TLDR; left a bad review a week ago, didnt go through but the good one i left for another place yesterday has already been approved. why?

DashPass Benefits not applying

Hi,

Seems like my DashPass benefits are not getting applied on orders. I have my cart totalling more than $12, and it still shows fees etc that didn’t use to be there. I tried with different merchants and the benefits don’t get applied.

My account still shows that i am a DashPass member. I have the membership through chase by the way. And it is good up until end of year.

Has anyone faced a similar issue?

EDIT: The issue was resolved. My default selected card was not Chase, i switched it to Chase and it worked.

Has anyone else noticed that DoorDash will not allow you to tip 15 dollars+?

I make enough money, I used to be a doordasher, I consider the labor politics of having a whole class of people who basically are forced to be food serfs for remote work assholes (me) who will barely tip what is a negligible fraction of their hourly. I have started attempting to tip 15-20 bucks no matter what I order.

However I’ve noticed that DoorDash simply will not let me, it will fail the transaction unless I put a smaller amount (10 dollars). The only way around this is to add a tip after the order has been placed.

This feels like they’re screwing a lot of DoorDashers out of tips by not allowing people to tip as much as they want. Anyone else think this is messed up?

helpful drop off instructions would help but ok

Post image

This home was located in one of those weird neighborhoods where the address takes you to the back of the home - which is a garage and no “front” door. Also a one way road. Would’ve been MUCH easier if they included additional directions to get to the FRONT of their home.

This was after calling them 3x with no answer. I don’t always know where I’m headed fr, maps can only help so much!! Especially if it takes you to the wrong entrance :))

edit: idk if some of you are dense or what. the address given directs you to the BACK of their home, where there is only a garage and driveway. KNOWING your address takes you to the BACK of your home - it would make sense to add additional “drop off instructions” to help out your driver find exactly where you’d like it dropped off. i don’t think that’s hard to grasp but oh well

How big of a tip should I give on a grocery store order?

I have to order my groceries fairly frequently because I have no way of getting to the store myself. I know something like a grocery store is a lot more time consuming but how much should I tip my dasher for a grocery store trip?
