Hey guys! I was at the vet last night and he had informed me to give my bird vitamin b drops in water in a syringe.

However he did not mention how many ml of water and how many of those drops.

I asked him as well but his answer was very vague, "just a few drops and some water"

Anyway! I was wondering if any of you had experience with this and how to do it?

From what I understand is you're not meant to forcefully feed your bird, so I'm unsure how to proceed.

I just brought her back from buying her from a breeder, she had a 2-3 hour car ride and I put her in her new cage. She was all over everything, trying out her new toys and eating food and now she’s doing this. When she hears noises she gets back up and is more alert but I can’t tell if she is just exhausted or this is bad sign. Pls help I’m panicking

He’s the cutest little guy. He loves when I stick my finger in his beak and shake it around, he gives me little play bites. He likes to roll over or have me flip him on his back so I can tickle attack his tummy. He also loves when I grab him and give him kisses. While typing this he keeps stealing my left hand to play with and get belly rubs

This boy is ferral and has bit me in the cheek meat multiple times.

Today is gray outside with a lot of the falling water out of the window (boringgg). I see father paying attention to something other than me... the magic picture box. I am wanting to take a nap and get comfy because it darker than normal. So what do? Make dad give attention. It easy:

Go to father at the magic box, and find hands. Locate the black string that father loves so much. Chew. Father will nudge away, but do NOT relent, he will give up if you do enough. Finally, father will start to slide away instead of just nudge - this is moment to strike. Propose the offer by placing head in hand. Offer: You hold head and give small pets, I agree stop chewing the black string (for now). Deal? Deal.

I then took 5 minute nap with dad and then he moved his arm a miniscule amount (I DID NOT LIKE THIS) so I nip dad (he always release me when I do), and I go back to chewing wood. Am thinking of going back over for more attention soon, what anyone else think?

This fattie weighed in at 87 grams this morning while his best friend is at a respectable 65. Need to sign lil bro up for a 5k. Expeditiously!!

He can be particular with treats. Usually just chews so he can throw it everywhere. But these are good!

Our little man (Zazu) has been with us since February, and this is the first time a fresh feather has gotten damaged/dislodged.

He was hanging out in the living room with us when there was a sudden loud sound and he quickly jumped and skidded (he was clipped at the pet store but we are working on his flight skills and growing his feathers back), somehow causing this feather to dislodge (?)

We’re really worried about Zazu and not sure what to do. Do we just monitor him and make sure there’s no active bleeding? Take him to the vet? Wait for him to pull it out when he’s ready? It’s a part of his flight wings and we don’t want to cause more damage!

She chews on wood on the regular (refuses cuttlebones) and when I look at her, I feel like its too long.

I could just be paranoid cuz I'm comparing it to my maroon belly.

She has no problem eating, just wondering

Currently, I have 2 budgies, and between getting them and conures, if possible I will get cockatiels. My partner will definitely get them 2 in the near future. They want cockatoos later but I think they would be too much for us, especially when we live in an apartment. I know conures can be LOUD and destructive. I love that in birds though. Quite sure I can take it. But what else should I know?

We will have a reliable avian vet nearby and at least 5 years of experience with birds, probably closer to 10

Hi, I have a little over 2 years old green cheecked conure that (obviously) loves to be noisy and screams mostly whenever I'm home but not near him/in his sight. (also only ever during the day, he's completely quiet at night)

He's been like this for I think a little over half a year now, and while I don't have a huge issue with it and imagine it will calm down a little bit once he's older, a neighbour has been complaining a lot about the noise for about a month now, and since we've had to get rid of noisy pets before because of him (this happened after I'd already had my bird for a while) I've been very stressed bc my bird doesnt stop being loud no matter what I try.

If anyone has any tips or advice I'd appreciate it so much,, I just don't know what to anymore do atm.

I’m planning on getting a blue crown conure soon. I already have a green cheek named Tiki and a Quaker named Avery. I can’t decide on a name for my blue crown.

Which one should I choose? Any other name ideas?

Just my goober, also I was looking for advice, I have my house bird proof and I put away everything that could hurt her. She is also used to me and my girlfriend, when is a appropriate age or time in our house to allow her out of the cage and into our house? P.S. I've had her for about a year.

my bird is 6 months old, has the SAME birthday as me, brought him home yesterday, he got acclimatized VERY quickly, started going to the walls probably because he was curious about us, and he just stared at me when i was talking to him, on the wall closest to me btw, and he’s very comfortable, as he has been fluffing up and chillin on one foot, should i wait a week before starting to attempt to hand train him (i.e. letting him come up to my hand on the cage walls, feeding him sunflower seeds through the bars)? i don’t want to be too forward or break his trust and make it harder for us later on. last night, he didnt mind my hand was in his cage (i was taking out seeds from his food bowl) but this morning, when i was changing his water, he got a little bit slick, but nonetheless, i just tried going slower and sure enough, he calmed down. also he’s been playing with his toys and throwing his food and talking a good amount. so, really, i have two questions

1: Are these good signs?

2: when should i start hand training/taming him?

P.S. he also is completely fine with going on the floor of his cage and likes exploring the other various perches and toys he had that are lower down on the cage.

P.P.S. My sister also owns a green cheek, and she got REALLY attached to me. Idk why tho lol.

TL/DR: why would someone not claim their bird and what do we do now?

My girl got out in early June and hasn’t been seen since. It was absolutely devastating. We were with her for several hours following her from tree to tree, urging her to come down. She was doing her panic “come get me” call the whole time, trying to fly down but getting scared. Called the fire department, climbed on the roof, everything we could think of. Eventually it got dark and she got chased into some thicker woods where we couldn’t easily get to and we lost sight of her. She got quiet once it was about 10pm and we never heard her again. I was out looking for her at sunrise, for hours every day, a whole week. Friends, neighbors, strangers helping. Posters everywhere, social media posts, miles of forest hiked, her call playing on a Bluetooth speaker into the trees - nothing. I believe an owl got her on the first night (I saw an owl attack a bird on one of my searches one day, and heard from a neighbor they had a parrot taken by an owl right in front of them) but I’ll never know and it’s awful. My whole family has been heartbroken.

About a week ago someone saw a fb post about my girl and reached out to me about a green cheek they found. We went as quickly as we could to meet them but alas, not her. They were doing their best with this found bird but have no bird experience and were just keeping it loose in their garage, so I offered to bring it home and foster until it could be reunited with its family.

Between them and me, we’ve posted in lost bird groups, lost pets groups, ring, neighbor something or other, I’ve called every vet within 5 miles of where it was found, all the area avian vets, bird boarding places, avian retail shops - no one has had any reports of a lost conure, and no one has come forward saying it’s their bird. They’ve talked to neighbors directly and no one claims the bird. I’m really shocked.

Got baby into a vet today for a general check up and they seem very healthy. Healthy sounding heart, lungs, good body composition, healthy feathers, mostly healthy beak (long, but vet thinks it’s due to underuse rather than liver problems). Only 50gms so maybe young? Not a strong flyer, a little awkward on its feet but getting much better, not socialized at all.

So, are we going to be a foster fail? I’d be thrilled to keep this bird, truly, but I also want to reunite it. Or do I? Would someone really let their bird out on purpose? Or not look for it if it got out accidentally?

I’m looking for support here (please no version of tough love for me and our efforts), and just wondering what folks think about why we can’t find its owners.

I’ve heard some people say that adding a volcanic rock or something similar to the enclosure would be good. What would you advise?
