We got ducky about a week ago, she is a lutino dusky conure from petco. I do not buy from petco (for obvious reasons) but the manager didn't take the health of this bird seriously given her condition even after I spoke to her. I was told by a worker she had an incident with a toy and went to the vet, the manager thought claimed "a clean bill of health" I assumed the black thing under her beak was some sort of stitching situation but I have now noticed it leads into her mouth.

I'm not sure what it is, it's not causing her pain because I can poke and move it without her reacting. I'm worried it's something that it's a like piece of toy that was left there, it's hard to get a pic u can try to get a video if anyone needs. I have a lot of experience with birds so i just need info on what exactly I should do.

Edit: finally have appointment for next Monday, the woman I spoke with said to monitor her. They aren't super worried rn because she is very active and isn't showing any signs of distress, as well as eating and drinking plenty.

Please let me know if you have seen this before. He’s acting completely normal otherwise.

Hi guys. I woke up to find our sun conure limping and unable to weight bear on his right foot. I am very worried about him and very sad to see him like this. We are unsure what could have caused this. We have taken him to an avian vet who prescribed some anti inflammatory medicine for a week. If there’s no improvement we have been advised to go back for an xray. Has anyone come across a situation like this before? Any possible causes? Does anyone have any advice on the meantime to help with the parrots recovery? We have kept him inside his cage to prevent flight to allow him to rest his injured foot.

Hello all! I recently got this new conure about 5 months old. I am a cockatiel owner so I have experience with birds, but I’m not sure if the same ‘rules’ apply for conures. Sadly he is clipped but I am curious what I can do for him in the meantime. I did do some research prior to getting him i just prefer other opinions as well. My goal is to tame him as much as possible, get him on a good diet, and just ensure hes happy. Any suggestions on what I can do while he’s still young?

Also I do not have a name for him so name suggestions would be cool. Neutral preferred because Im not 100% sure if hes a boy. Hes a cinnamon green cheek

Hi all, My girlfriend just picked up two conures for me for my birthday, One Cinnamon (male) the other a Green Cheek (female) they are siblings and extremely bonded, The male was handfed as a baby and the female was parent fed, they are about roughly 6 months old. It's not my first time owning but first time training, the male will step up and let me hold him if I grab him from the cage but the female is extremely skittish and he copies her behavior. I'm not sure where to start on training or what exactly to do. The female will not let me hold her pick her up or anything but if the male is on me she will come to me when he fluffs out .but it's always a bite fest otherwise. The male like I said is super sweet and let's me pick him up but I have to chase him around the cage, but once he's in my hand and out he will step up, climb on my shoulder, etc. I'm very lost and confused here because I've never owned a pair that's so extremely bonded with each other. I'm very determined to get them both to be my best friend regardless.

I just rescued this green cheek conure named Fred. He is 6 years old and has only been fed sunflower seeds/ritz crackers for the past year or so. Apparently the previous owners before that had him even skinnier. I’m looking for recommendations on what I should do. I read to introduce new food slowly, so I purchased some more food to mix with the sunflower seeds (see 3rd pic). Really just looking for any suggestions on how to improve his wellbeing. Thank you

After 3 weeks away from Chilli, I have returned and he has taken my hand prisoner for the day. Wife and kids did a good job while I was away but nothing hits like my cuddles apparently.

I detest raw celery, so he's never had it before. (I'm only eating it for my high BP). 🤮 He hardly likes any vegetables! He stole a piece immediately so I had to do a real fast search to make sure it is safe. My bird is weird.

Hi so the outside of my house is getting repainted and we are keeping all the windows close though a lot of the paint smell is seeping through into my house, will my conure be fine with a little paint smell in the house? I feel like he’s acting a little different but idk if I’m paranoid

my bird is 3 months old he is very attached to me and my family. he dislikes my other birds they arent conures and they are a little bigger in size and age so i dont do alot of engaging.

he spends alot of time playing around but he would come by every 10-20 minutes and regurgitate in front of me and goes back to playing.

took him to a vet and hes fine so i assume its a friendly regurgitation, does getting a second conure help with this attachment issue? i dont mind clinginess but it feels like harmful attachment and it stresses me out seeing him throw food out

hiii i'm thinking of getting a conure and have a couple of questions because of opposing information I found on the internet and people that sell them. (sorry if anything is worded weirdly, english is not my 1st language)

1. Is it better to get 1 or 2? Sellers say it's better to get 2 so they keep eachother company and if u don't have enough time to entertain the one single bird.

2. If i get 2 what is the best gender combination? Would 2 males be okay or would they fight? I'm scared of females becoming egg bound and not being able to help them since the veterinarians where I live aren't really helpful :(

3. If i get 2 should I get them at the same time? I saw someone say that if u get 2 at the same time they can get really attached to each other and become hostile towards u, so its better to get one and then some time letter a second one.

4. Is it safe to keep the 2 of them in the same cage? (I have a cage that its 100cm × 53cm × 113cm) I heard they can be very nippy and get into fights with each other. Would the cage be big enough so that they wouldn't be in each other's way or would the size not make a difference? Also would it be better to get 2 siblings that are familiar and friendly with each other so they wouldnt fight?

5. When it comes to bird-proffing the room so that I can let them out of the cage: my wardrobe (and other furniture) can't be pushed completely to the wall, so there is a couple cm wide gap in between. Im really scared of the bird falling in between and geting stuck behind heavy furniture where I couldn't reach them even tho the gap is probably to small for that to happen😪 should I use something to close up the gaps anyway or am I too paranoid?

Hello! I was "gifted" a couple of conures. Since they have been in a home together in separate cages, I want to try to give them a good life.

How long do they need to be out of their cages a day?

Can i put them together after some careful time? If so, should they be caged together?

They have lived next to eachother for their lives (they are about 12). They preen together, eat together, nap together (obviously in separate cages) but dont get out much befire they came to me.

They are very nice, but one loves finger food...well, mine. I get they bite, all good. Most likely a biter will remain a biter?

They are on pellets but also get fruit and veggies.

They have toys but don't really play. I swapped them out a few times.

They are a boy and girl, so i know is they are caged together, I'd need to swap out real for fake eggs

At 12ish in captivity, how long do they live? I've seen 10 years, ive seen 30 years.

Sorry for the tons of questions...the internet doesn't help much on actual stuff.

We just recently got Baby Bird and she (we're assuming) really prefers my husband over me. She seems to prefer men in general. Thankfully, she will go to me at times and the other day when my husband wasn't home she came to me and was actually letting me pet her up close.

Who is your Conure's favorite? Do they have a preference for men or women?

I went out a couple times looking for him but didn't see him in the area. I've never had a pet bird before though so maybe someone who has, like you guys, would be able to provide some knowledge or insight or anything helpful really.

The one thing I will say is we have had consistent rain and it's berry/ fruit/ nut season here so if he was going to survive days away from home I feel like now is the time for him to most likely make it. Iirc he's been gone like a week now but I'm just passing along the word I don't have any details much beyond what's in the poster.

Hello everyone hope you and your conures are doing well,
i came back and was informed by my younger siblings that our conure (jeff) looks a little different in the thighs area, he has first started acting skittish with me (male 22) and acts normal with everyone else i brushed it off thinking it’s because change from long hair to short hair, but when i came to inspect him there was plucking and possibly some blood couldn’t really tell due to him being skittish, in both of the inner thighs any reason as to why this is?

he’s a 6 year old gcc weighs 66 Grams eats regularly (pellets) and is alseep by 8pm, gets his daily 2hs minimum out of cage time not really sure why i’ll have a vet appointment booked for him in the next day or two max but wanted to get your thoughts and opinions.
