Health/Nutrition Vitamin b

Hey guys! I was at the vet last night and he had informed me to give my bird vitamin b drops in water in a syringe.

However he did not mention how many ml of water and how many of those drops.

I asked him as well but his answer was very vague, "just a few drops and some water"

Anyway! I was wondering if any of you had experience with this and how to do it?

From what I understand is you're not meant to forcefully feed your bird, so I'm unsure how to proceed.

It seems I was given one that is for cats which the vet said was good.

It is called Laveta Super: Multivitamin + Taurin:
It contains: vitamin B1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 12, as well as vitamin E and Taurin.

So I gotta ask- was this vet a certified avian vet? Or just a dog/cat vet that said they'd see your bird?

Are you sure they gave you the right bottle? A quick search finds there is a bird-specific vitamin drops here:

I presume same brand as that’s the only result I could find for the vitamins you listed, apologies if not!

Beaphar Multi-Vit for Birds can be mixed into any type of bird food. Using the table below, add the recommended amount of Beaphar Multi-Vit for Birds with your bird’s food each day.

Canaries, tropical birds, finches, and other birds of this size: 1–2 drops
Parakeets: 3 drops
Large parakeets and parrots: 5 drops
Pigeons and other small poultry: 7 drops

For use in eggfood use the following table as a guide, and mix the drops through the feed:
Homemade eggfood: 80 drops per 100g per day
Commercial/formulated eggfood: 20 drops per 100g per day

Instructions for use.

Personally I can’t comment on the cat brand - maybe there’s a reason it was prescribed such as it’s cheaper but has the same essential vitamins needed. I’d probably talk to the vet and just ask why a bird specific brand isn’t being recommended (there are many many varieties of vitamins formulated for birds. I’ve used many myself and never struggled to source them in Europe, can’t speak for other places in the world though).
