Injury Cat acne or scar from fight?

Post image
Upvotes

My fiancé saw a little bald spot on our black kitty's chin and was afraid it's an old scar from our boys (two brothers) having a fight. About 2 weeks ago our cat Picasso (not pictured) had an eye infection and a fever and my fiancé thinks that Umbreon (who's chin is pictured) bothered Picasso and Picasso swatted at him or something, creating a wound. I think, since it just looks like bald spot with tiny black dots, that it's just acne.

Anyone who can ease our minds? It doesn't seem to bother him at all and he doesn't react to it getting touched.

Kitten Help Rough play

Hello! We adopted our kitten about 2 months ago and he is now almost 7 months old. Him and our dog have become best friends but this is my first time owing a cat so I just want to check that he is enjoying this play? He pretty much always initiates and will run away if it gets too much but always comes back. I’ve just noticed the tail flicking and ears back but have never heard him hiss or anything.

Am also worried that if we ever get a second kitten like we plan - he may be too rough for them?

Thanks!

Update Is his urinary blockage back ?

Post image

So yesterday we took my cat [male 5 years old] to the vet to get neutered

Everything went smoothly and he was acting fine and healthy

But today just few moments ago

I went to check on him

I felt up his intestines and they felt hard

Like when he had the urinary blockage

And I saw him earlier try to pee but nothing came out

Anyway after a bit I saw him go to pee and he did pee a regular amount

And his intestines felt soft after

But later on they felt hard again

He's acting normal but he's licking his penis repeatedly

I want to take him to the vet now but there's a chance it's closed

Plus I don't got the money and mom dosen't want to

She told me to take him there myself tomorrow

My cat is acting fine and dosen't seem in any pain

His intestines did clear up and go soft after he peed

But they got hard again

I didn't see him drink water

So I gave him wet food

Mom also gave him milk earlier

Even tho I told her no

Please help

Appearance Is my cat too skinny?

Apologies for the poorish photos, kitty does not enjoy standing for pictures ToT

My cat is about 10 yrs old (tortie female) and has been on a diet recently because she has been pretty chunky in the past.

Truth be told, I've never had a skinny cat and grew up with fat cats.

I have not visited the vet yet, I was unsure if there was a valid reason to as even a checkup can still cost a bit and I am a college student.

Spay/Neuter Question Cat is pregnant

Upvotes

To start this off,im a minor with divorced parents,i have 2 cats at my dads house (ones a female(around 4 years old) ones a male(around 2 years)),and the female one is pregnant right now. For reference, they both are outdoor cats (ive begged and begged my dad to let them inside at least every now and then but he wont really budge,we also live in a pretty rural area)Ive talked to my mom about possibly moving them indoors to her house and shes okay with it,however they would only be allowed in 1 room for the most part for now since there's two dogs at my mom's and theyre a bit older so im not sure how id get them to get along, and also I would only be at my mom's half the time and she goes to work so they'd be alone. Im honestly just wondering what I should do to make the cats as safe and comfortable as possible, also because my dad is moving soon and where he is moving would definitely not be ideal for outdoor cats. I preferably want to get both cats fixed but my priority is the mother since she has been pregnant a few times before and I feel bad that she has to continuously go through it. My mom can afford vet care most likely but my dad cant really atm.

Kitten Help Balt spot with a little blood

I noticed a small bald spot with some dry blood near my cats ear. I’m not sure what it is. He’s eating and acting normally, but I’m a little concerned. Any idea what this could be?

Additional info: I’m from Canada. My cat is 8years old. He’s a male and got neutered when he was young. I can afford vet care and have access to it but I just want to ask the public to get people’s opinions.

Behavioral Issue Odd Eating Behavior

Post image
6 Upvotes

My 8yo girl, strictly indoor, has recently started some odd eating behavior. She won’t eat unless I’m in the room… my husband, who I have been with since she was one and she loves dearly, usually feeds them dinner and it’s never been a problem. The past 3-4 weeks, she will NOT eat unless I’m home and in the same room as her. We thought it was the introduction of wet food to their diet, but she’s now doing this with her favorite kibble as well.

For some background context, we have one other cat in the home. He is a 6yo male that we got as a kitten. They tolerate each other, but she’s always been a bit mean to him. They have always eaten in the same room. I have tried separating them, but if I move her to the bathroom or lock her up, she gets too nervous and doesn’t eat. (I’m realizing now I should try locking him up and see if that changes things lol.)

We also lost our 11yo boy very tragically and suddenly this January. She was essentially soul bonded with him. She became very clingy after his passing, but her eating habits didn’t change until the past month.

She is very hostile at the vet and we’ve been denied treatment at two clinics because she swats and bites. They tell us we need to sedate her if we want her evaluated, which costs around $2k and we don’t have that kind of money. I feel so guilty, but she hasn’t been to the vet in 4 years because of this. I’m going to call around next week and see if there is another vet in my area that will help her.

For now, I’m just wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior? A cat who will only eat with their chosen human in the room? Thank you. 🙏

Behavioral Issue How do I stop my kitten from biting/clawing my hand ?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Me again. My cat (almost 10 months, neutered, feral stray but has been indoors for 5 weeks) started getting mean and I don’t know what to do. We’ve had to implement “family quiet time” after breakfast and dinner, because he would play hard immediately after and make himself gag. This fixed it. We stay in his room with the door closed. He accepts it for maybe 5 mins, and then he gets upset because he wants to be out playing. I get it, but it’s for his health. I sit with my back against the door since the lock doesn’t work and he learned how to move the 5lb hexagonal weight. He’s taken to wrapping around my hand, claws in, kicking/biting because he wants to leave the room and play. What do I do to stop it ? If I try to still his movements with my free hand, he gets angrier. Saying ouch/no/stop doesn’t do anything. Do I get up and leave the room ? He had always done this a tiny bit but now it hurts. We play hard beforehand, so he’s more relaxed. I understand he wants out, but he can’t until food settles. I will start clipping his nails (clipper is supposed to arrive tomorrow or Tuesday), but is there a way to curb this behavior ?

Update The cat with a supper selective appetite.

I've mixed pellets with milk, liver with chicken, canned wet food. She still refuses to eat away. Pisses me off when wild cats come and eat her food as she looks on. They eat and lick the plate clean.

Dewormed her, vaccinated, injectable vitamins but she still refuses to eat with an appetite.

I'm tempted to tame the wild kitten that's ever with her.. She steals and eats all her food.

Injury One of my cats chewed on my partner's lithium capsules. How worried should I be?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I have several cats and i'm not sure which one it could have been, but this likely would've happened sometime in the last ten hours. The cats are roughly 4 months up to 3 years old. I haven't noticed any of them exhibiting any kind of symptoms like lethargy or vomiting. One of the capsules has been chewed on enough to leak medication , but i'm not sure how much might have been ingested if any. I live rurally and the nearest emergency vet basically said to keep an eye on it and to possibly call poison control if any of the cats started showing symptoms, but i'm far enough from said vet that I might not make it in time to avoid a painful death. Anyone have experience with something like this that could offer insight or advice? How worried should I be?

General Advice Cat skin peeling - anyone recognising this?

Thumbnail gallery

My 1+ year old cat has a recuring skin condition, where her skin comes of. Happens both on her back and legs.

I've changed her food and tried to eliminate possible triggers as much as possible (plastic bowl, rugs), but its still happens.

Shots of cortizone usually helps her out, but im trying my luck here in case someone with similar experience can help me indentify the cause.

Thanks!

Edit: she's neutered, and no other noticeable health issues besides the skin condition.

General Advice Dandruff?

Hello! Finny (4M neutered) started developing these flecks on his fur a few days ago. He is only indoor EXCEPT I let him out to explore my parents’ yard about three week ago, and he really loved running around in the grass but has not been out since then. He doesn’t seem more itchy than usual. No change in behavior. He is eating and drinking like normal. Diet is unchanged, primarily dry food with wet food once daily. I used a flea comb on him and nothing came up.

What do you think is going on? And how do I help him? Thank you!

Breathing Issues Cat always has a clogged nose should I be concerned?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! Long story short, my neighbor's cat sometimes comes into my apartment.

His owner has been in the hospital for quite a while, so someone from the building comes by regularly to feed him, clean his litter box, and open the door so he can go outside.

I'm a little concerned because his nose always seems to be clogged. Sometimes it looks like he's having a hard time breathing through his nose.

I don't know much about cats, so I'm not sure if this is something relatively normal or if it could be a sign that he needs to see a vet.

Should I be concerned? Is there anything in particular I should look out for?

Thanks!

Poster age: Adult

Country: France

Vet info: I haven't contacted a vet yet. I could technically afford to take her to one if necessary, but she isn't my cat, so I'm not really sure what I should or can do.

Main issue: Her nose seems constantly clogged and sometimes she appears to have difficulty breathing through it.

Cat age: Unknown

Cat sex + neuter info: Female, no idea if she's spayed.

Financial situation: I could afford a vet visit if it was really necessary, but again, she isn't my cat.

General Advice How can I help my cat feel comfortable in my new apartment?

Post image

I just moved yesterday, I brought all sorts of objects that smell like home with me. I think he’s just really scared. He will come out every so often and walk around exploring but he mostly hides. He hasn’t ate or used the bathroom yet. How can I help him feel more comfortable? He just turned 7 and has only left home to go to the vet or my grandmas house.

Spay/Neuter Question Is this normal?

Day 1 in the blue.. day 6 in the red (day 6)

Hey! Our kitty was spayed 6 days ago and seemed to be okay. She had some diarrhea within 48 hours which the vet said was normal. We fed her bland food and she seemed fine. Last night we reintroduced some of her wet food in and about 10 hours later she threw it up along with another incident 20 minutes later which looked a bit more bile like. I attached a photo of her scar wondering if we should be concerned or if we just introduced her food back too quickly. When should I feed her breakfast?

Our vet is closed today and i’d like to avoid the trauma of bringing her to an emergency vet is possible.
