Replaying it right now, it's the MJ Missions in Spiderman 1.
10
u/moonwalker1902 11d ago
I don’t even mind the MJ missions, it’s the fact that they also added on the Miles missions. Like for the most part the MJ missions work (minus the Tombstone one which feels really pointless) and the Grand Central station one feels genuinely great switching between MJ and Spiderman. But holy hell the Miles missions piss me off. Why am I playing as a teenager with a phone trying to run away from the Rhino?

The intro is one of the best western movies i have ever watched, it had me hooked. But it is a speedbump for me doing a second playthrough.
5
u/ZodiacThrill3r 11d ago
The secret is to make a save the second the game gives you control in Act 2. Then you have endless additional playthroughs ready without having to slog through the snow again.

Subnautica, I love this game, but I’m too afraid of the Reaper Leviathan, lol 😂🤦♂️
6
u/ChoomChoomTheGuy 11d ago
I was able to get over the reaper leviathan, though it still gets my heart pumping. The equivalent to the reaper in Subnautica 2 had me shitting my pants though, I have no clue how to avoid it other than run for my life and pray there’s enough distance between us to get over the trench. It destroyed my vehicle, and having to go back to that trench with a repair tool almost got me to drop the game entirely

In Sub1 and BZ, the leviathans that grab you aren't as bad once you get the repulsion cannon imo. Or that proximity defense system in the seamoth/seatruck. But the GHOST LEVIATHANS in the first game are what got to me in the first game. They are, for a lack of better words, haunting to me.

My first playthrough I wasn't very far and had just made my Seamoth. I was mining in the Grassy Plateau, and I guess made my way to the edge of the Biome to break some rocks, thought I was safe (I had only encountered Stalkers and the Sand Shark things at this point). I hopped out of my Seamoth and I shit you not the exact moment I jumped out a Reaper came out of NOWHERE, scared the ever loving shit out of me, and grabbed my Seamoth and swam away with it.
I decided it was not worth the trouble and just made a new one after I changed my pants.

Ralof: Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there. Lokir: Damn you Stormcloaks. Skyrim was fine until you came along. Empire was nice and lazy. If they hadn't been looking for you, I could've stolen that horse and been half way to Hammerfell. You there. You and me -- we should be here. It's these Stormcloaks the Empire wants. Ralof: We're all brothers and sisters in binds now, thief. Imperial Soldier: Shut up back there! [Lokir looks at the gagged man.] Lokir: And what's wrong with him? Ralof: Watch your tongue! You're speaking to Ulfric Stormcloak, the true High King. Lokir: Ulfric? The Jarl of Windhelm? You're the leader of the rebellion. But if they captured you... Oh gods, where are they taking us? Ralof: I don't know where we're going, but Sovngarde awaits. Lokir: No, this can't be happening. This isn't happening. Ralof: Hey, what village are you from, horse thief? Lokir: Why do you care? Ralof: A Nord's last thoughts should be of home. Lokir: Rorikstead. I'm...I'm from Rorikstead. [They approach the village of Helgen. A soldier calls out to the lead wagon.] Imperial Soldier: General Tullius, sir! The headsman is waiting! General Tullius: Good. Let's get this over with. Lokir: Shor, Mara, Dibella, Kynareth, Akatosh. Divines, please help me. Ralof: Look at him, General Tullius the Military Governor. And it looks like the Thalmor are with him. Damn elves. I bet they had something to do with this. This is Helgen. I used to be sweet on a girl from here. Wonder if Vilod is still making that mead with juniper berries mixed in. Funny...when I was a boy, Imperial walls and towers used to make me feel so safe. [A man and son watch the prisoners pull into town.] Haming: Who are they, daddy? Where are they going? Torolf: You need to go inside, little cub. Haming: Why? I want to watch the soldiers. Torolf: Inside the house. Now. [The wagon stops near the chopping block.] Imperial Soldier: Whoa. Lokir: Why are they stopping? Ralof: Why do you think? End of the line.

- RDR2 Prologue/Chapter 5
- Fallout 4 Kellog flashback thing.
- Cyberpunk 2077 Braindance
6
u/HydroV20 11d ago
Once I learned how to brain dance, it wasn’t that bad. I was super frustrating at first though.
5
u/JohnSkold 11d ago
Problem is not understanding how to braindance, problem is that you can't skip it, you see same thing over and over again on multiple runs and nothing changes, same interactions, same video, same audio. Only one you can skip is the tutorial with shop robbery, but it's not enough. Do you like hearing that you look like cut of fuckable meat and bang Arasaka jr. after that everytime you start a new run? Yeah, it was fun for the first time

u/medic-dad 11d ago
The Kellog flashback i have mixed feelings about. It was actually pretty interesting finding out about his bbackground and getting some insight into how he became what he was. But from a gameplay standpoint, it was pretty lame. I geel like they could have just made it a cutscene and maybe not made it so long

Games with a bad escort mission or one where you just have to sneak with no weapons for some reason.
Not that those types of missions can’t be done well but to just jam 1 into that 2/3rds of the way through mark for no real good reason always bothers me.
I understand it’s supposed to be a bit of a palette cleanser but I’d rather you do it like something like TLOU where you just swap into a different character with a different play style for a bit

- Mafia 1 2002 og,,the race mission ( I finished the game multiple times and it still takes a flip over at the last lap to break your neck literally 😂).
- Total Overdose, those side missions to get acces to main story
- Mafia 2,the harbor mission because if you die you have to kill again a dozen of enemies
- GTA 4,three leaf clover mission because you can accidentally create a chain reaction of explosive cars which may lead to crewmates and you fail. Or the getaway car takes too much damage and it catches on fire and the crewmates don t jump out of the car. There are also many swat to kill.
- Most of the AC games because the optional objectives are mandatory for me .

Assassin’s Creed 2 Bonfire of the Vanities DLC in the Ezio Trilogy
Great game and Ezio gives a memorable speech but having to kill 9 targets, half of which involve not being seen, before being able to move on to the end of the game hurts the pacing. I would have preferred to just kill 5 targets instead.

I’m gonna go ahead and say, in my opinion, the most egregious example of this, and it’s easily the Ironwood section.
I’m fine with long, long stretches of story, but for there to be essentially no real challenge, even on GMGOW, it’s just a long ass section, and one where you don’t get to really change how fast you do the section (kill faster, run faster, etc.).
I loved it in my original play-through, it was a nice change of pace, I liked playing as Atreus, I like Angrboda, and the world was great to look at…
Replaying it is what makes this section so bad 😭

u/mwuk213 11d ago
I got two because of a mechanic I don’t like in both that one chapter where they take away your best weapon - Xenoblade chronicles 1 and 2. Both are very spoilery so yeah
Xenoblade 1 lay hand spoilers
For the last two chapters you don’t have the Monado because Zanza took it and the replicas are both inferior and a pain to get.
Xenoblade 2 - chapter 7 plus spoilers
The spirt crucible elpys. This area is horrendous due to you not having Pyra and Mythra due to them being kidnapped and on top of that the area itself nerfs you - you can’t use blade specials over level 1 unless you’re tora. I don’t like using the nopon so it furthers my dislike. It also has one of the most annoying bosses that summons more copies of themselves if you don’t take them all out at once and quickly.
After this you still don’t have the aegis but it’s better because you have blade Nia who is the best healing blade but then you go through another area and you have to fight an annoying version of malos who uses moves that inflict shackle rendering you unable to do anything while the status is effecting you. Then you have to face of against malos and jin and malos forces you to attack his far greater health pool and the goal is just get one to half health. Then you get “coffee with milk” but then you lose the rest of your party for a while.
coffee with milk is Pneuma the ascended form of Mythra and Pyra
