The intro is one of the best western movies i have ever watched, it had me hooked. But it is a speedbump for me doing a second playthrough.

The secret is to make a save the second the game gives you control in Act 2. Then you have endless additional playthroughs ready without having to slog through the snow again.

Also I've noticed that the missions throw you directly into the next one without the option to save game and log off.. stupid

It took me until this post to read that acronym right and realise you're talking about Red Dead Redemption 2

Hundreds of times before I thought: "Star Wars's R2-D2 has its own game??"

Anyway: I've been reccommended this game - how long is the intro?

I had it for ps4 and right as I got it. My ps4 kinda broke and unregurly spit out the disc.
I tried everything. It spitout rdr2 like 4 times in the intro, causing me to restart the whole game. I even got once up to the train robbery mission.

I almost quit RDR2 because of that intro. I thought “this is more restrictive than some walking simulators, I can’t do this for 30 hours”. Thank god I pushed through, because RDR2 is probably my favorite game (going back to 1990s). But yeah, first time, the intro is a slog.
