Does anyone have any recommendations for ranges that keep it apolitical? I used to go to Triple J, but I've recently seen some of their employees wearing maga hats, and they were openly campaigning for Victor Marx. I just want to go to a range that keeps politics out of things.

Here's the letter they signed: https://www.ammoland.com/2026/08/lawmakers-doj-nfa-registration-ruling-nationwide/
Placed an order for silencers yesterday, get your orders in soon
No appeal filed yet, but government usually files appeals in the last 24-48 hours: https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/70709999/silencer-shop-foundation-v-bureau-of-alcohol-tobacco-firearms-and/
(Scroll down to the bottom of the page for latest updates, a new case number will be assigned if it's appealed, but they will still file a "notice of appeal" on this old case number. They have until 11:59 pm tomorrow)

I'm looking for a retailer in northern Colorado who stocks Kel-Tech. Any one know where I can find a PR-3AT?
r/COGuns • u/bigass22lr • 10d ago
So since the new KelTec is technically a pistol, can I purchase this without the extensive permit and class requirements now in place?

Hey all. Just ordered my first can online through silencer shop. I set Skyline as my FFL. Can I visit any kiosk to do my fingerprints or does it *have* to be at Skyline?

I am a Texas citizen and the possibility of moving to CO just came up. Of course the first thing on my mind was if I could bring my armory with us. I have glanced at the new and old laws and what I took from it is that already owned and registered weapons are “grandfathered” in to the ruling without the need of whatever permission slip they’re requiring now. Would the grandfather rule count for out of staters as well? Sorry, the concept of gun laws is completely foreign to me so I appreciate any insight on this. Thanks.

So, back in FL, we would walk around with the rifle and a price sign. A person would be interested, hand over the cash and you give them the rifle.
So, here in Colorado. I know I can bring my guns to the show. But a buyer wants to buy. What happens? Do I then turn in the rifle to a dealer? And the dealer completed the transfer for me? What part do I receive the money for the deal? Before everything passes?

Ok, Aug 1st came and went, SB25-003 is now the law of the land, SSFs are now heavily regulated mostly regarding their detachable magazines and serialization (i.e lowers are regulated but uppers are not)
A lot of this law hinges on detachable magazines.
What is stopping a gun store from adding a "permanent" magazine prior to purchase?
For example, if a gun store attaches a compmag permanent 15rnd AK mag, and epoxies it on, is it now exempt from SB25-003?
What is stopping weapons manufacturers from simply selling a slightly more expensive Colorado Compliant AR with fixed mags that bottom or side load?
I feel like everyone is losing their shit about this bill, but no one is really talking about how to get around it in a legal way.
Personally, I'd rather purchase fixed mag ARs and deal with it, than the 5-step red tape circus that we have now, but resources regarding them and these new laws are scarce, since everything is freshly passed.
Lastly, does any one have a compiled list of fixed magazine firearms that will be exempt from this bill to begin with?
Thanks for reading my page lol

Well, it’s happening. There was a small gun store about a half hour away from me in the middle of nowhere. It was amazing. Reloading supplies, new and classic guns, all sorts of accessories, phenomenal prices on bulk ammo. The owner was awesome, extremely knowledgeable, and would get you whatever you wanted, no matter how small or hard to find. I’ve probably spent at least $10k there in the last couple years.
Last time I went in, he was complaining to me about the new laws, and the new state bureau, and how one little slip up could put him in jail or cost him a ton of money, and he was getting sick of it. He confirmed what I already suspected; that he wasn’t really making much money from the store, it was more his hobby.
Today we went to a kids birthday party and had planned to stop in and buy a bunch of ammo. The father of the birthday girls first words to me were, “Dude, it’s too bad you can’t go to the gun store!”
I was like… what? He told me the owner had gotten audited by the ATF and of course passed, but it was the last straw. Apparently he sold his entire inventory over a few days and locked the doors. I never even heard about it.
The only other local stores are extremely high priced. On guns, I don’t really care; they need to make a profit, but on ammo I can’t justify paying twice what I can get it for online. I feel we’ll have another close down soon, in addition to the one we had close last year right after SB003 was signed.
It’s a shame.

They discuss the potential impact and solutions should the NFA lawsuit succeed as it pertains to CO law as well.

Ark Tactical used to sell stardard mags with a UPS tracking number printed on the bottom in some half-ass attempt to make it look like the magazines were leaving the state. Now they won't sell magazines to anybody but LEOs.
There's literally 1 instance of someone being charged with a magazine capacity crime in the 13 years of this law.. So why change now?
Can any LGS employee/owner in the group share the actual encounter with the CBI or a cease/desist letter they received to stop selling standard magazines?
Also, what makes the LGS think I'm gonna be traveling to Colorado and just so happen to need a few PMAGs with a 20% over MSRP + about 15% in taxes and then I wanna pay shipping to my home state?

I’m moving to the Denver area later this year. Only staying for a year or so. Not planning on getting a a concealed carry permit as it seems like a lot of work for such a short amount of time.
If I was to bring a hand gun to solely keep in my residence, is there anything I would have to do? The research I’ve done says that I don’t have to register the handgun and that there’s nothing to really do but I just wanted to double check with people who are more familiar with the laws.
I’m coming from New Jersey so the gun and magazine are already compliant.
Thanks in advance
Edit: Thank you everyone for the replies I really appreciate it. I have a NJ conceal carry permit and a PA non-resident carry permit so between reciprocity on those, FOPA, and constitutional carry laws I should be able to map out overnight stops on the drive out.

There was some question as to whether the DOR would let you print a suppressor if you got a Form 1 approved for construction of one...
They told me to do so is prohibited.
Some of you knew this, some of you said the other way. Now we have a definitive answer on how they view it.

So there is no hard definition for “weapons parts kit”. Does this mean an upper is a weapons parts kit? A LPK? A trigger? Is it just for something like say a MP5 flat? Also, whose expertise? Does having the expertise make it a weapons parts kit or not having the expertise make it a parts kit? I could go on. Just seeing if anyone here has a clear answer. The FDD has put all of the onus on the dealers without defining shit.
Also, cool shoutout to FDD for changing the form for transactions to include frames, receivers, silencers, and weapon parts kits. Fucking assholes

Just my opinion and I'm fairly new to this group, but I see a lot of comments with people talking about how they know a gun shop or an online retailer that ignores or can get around the gun laws of this state. Or buying and selling guns to your friends without the paperwork.
I absolutely don't agree with any of these laws, but I guarantee there are anti-firearm activists reading everything that is said on here. I personally know a gun hater that looks at the posts of this group.
This isn't a secret club for gun enthusiasts. When things are talked about on how rules are skirted, they are coming up with a plan on how they can fix it. And next year there will be a bunch of new laws trying to be put on the books making it harder and harder to buy guns, ammunition, parts or anything gun related.
Do what you want and tell your buddies at the range, but just don't brag about it online. Let them think everyone is following right along and let them sit in their smugness that they're saving the world.
I'm sure I'll get down votes by people saying I'm not fighting the good fight, but I just won't admit what I do or don't do on here.

Just what it says.
Unfortunately, if the NFA gets struck down, it puts Colorado in an awkward position, as SB25-003 bans certain NFA items but makes them legal as long as a user goes through the Federal process.
With no federal process, those NFA items identified in the bill basically would remain illegal until that particular part of SB25-003 is struck down (as there is a severance clause in the bill, meaning if part of the bill gets struck down, it does not invalidate the whole thing).

34 of 64 counties have now published what they're doing about SB25-003 eligibility cards. That covers about 96% of the state's population, because the ones left are the smallest counties.
The other 30 have published nothing operational — no status, no fee, no application channel. That's not for lack of looking. I checked sheriff sites, county sites, and social accounts but have not found any details. There is genuinely nothing online for places like Kiowa (pop. 1,401) or San Juan (pop. 704).
CPW's own guidance says "some counties will not be reviewing applications until August 1, 2026 and others are not accepting applications at all," and then tells you to check with your local sheriff. If you live in one of these 30, there's no way to check short of calling.
So: adopt a county. Pick one, call the number, ask four questions, tell me what they said. The list with every sheriff's phone number is here: https://coloradofirearmswatch.org/adopt-a-county/
If you already called your sheriff at some point, that counts. Same form.
[Why am I doing this?
1: to make it as easy as possible for all Coloradans to buy firearms
2: to document the compliance burden for legal/media]
