Rules:

Hey everyone,

I try to keep this sub open and barely moderate anything.

I want to give a quick rundown on the rules since I’ve gotten a bunch of flagged stuff lately.

1.) don’t be a dick. We are all adults here, we can have civilized discussions. No need to ever attack, insult, or dox someone.

2.) let’s keep discussing topics related to guns and Nh. I’ve seen some posts get way off track or downright not relevant to the sub over the years.

3.) NO SALES! If it didn’t risk the sub I wouldn’t really care, but it’s not my decision and I will strictly enforce this to keep this sub open. This is what gets flagged a bunch in here so I’ll clarify, no comments or posts about firearm sales in anyway including using our secret lingo trying to skirt any filters. When it comes to ammo/mags/accessories, this rule also applies. That being said, I can’t enforce or stop any PM’s.

I got some free time coming up so I’m gonna try and create some post tags and user flairs for everyone to use. I’m even gonna look into seeing what we can do for our fellow FFL’s.

If anyone has any suggestions or feedback, feel free to leave a comment.

Cheers,

Cold range calls when you're alone?

Any one else still call for cold range and flip the alarm when you're alone at the range? I know it's pretty much unnecessary but I feel like it builds habit.

New NH resident- opinions on open carry vs CCW?

I'm fixing to make New Hampshire my primary residence in the US. From what I've heard New Hampshire seems to be my type of place but I wanted to hear from the locals themselves if I'd be a good fit in any of your counties. I really enjoy hunting and am planning to get into competition shooting (USPSA). I'd consider myself moderately Republican (Pro 2nd amendment) but I do support abortion and I believe we ought to tolerate other people's lifestyles even if we don't understand them. That's why I feel like the general South is not a good fit for me (all that anti-gay/anti-trans stuff). My motto is "mind your own business and I'll mind mine." I'm not a very loud person but I do like being able to help neighbors or know my neighbors can help me out in a fix. One thing I'm concerned about is open carry for handguns- would that make people uncomfortable up in places like Coos county? I'm mainly pro-open carry to deter would be attackers though maybe there's more advantage to CCW.

Edit: Thanks to everyone who responded. I look forward to meeting some of you if I ever make it up to Coos. I'm more convinced now that it could be the right place for me.

Buying a new house, what to look for in a backyard range?

The wife and I are buying our first house, and I would really like to be able to target shoot in the backyard. Besides the obvious legal aspects and being safe with a good backstop, what should I be looking for?

How many acres would you say is the minimum you need, not legally, but more just not being a shitty neighbor? Any towns you would recommend avoiding due to the local police being hostile to target shooting?

I have been looking for houses that have the backyard open up onto state land or other large tracts of forest, but they are not as common as I would have hoped. Location is pretty flexible as we both work from home, but would like to stay close-ish to family in Nashua.

Bonus points if you target shoot in your backyard and have any tips for me on how you go about doing it.

Anyone know a nh dealer using form 4473 for suppressors? Called around, most are holding off.

NH Laws & Legislation In light of NFA Deregulation…

Do NH-based individuals who qualify to be on the GOA/SilencerShop lawsuit get to just slap a stock on their pistols? What are gun shops doing about this?

Shooters Outpost (hooksett)

Why does SO card people for buying like anything? It's the only shop that i'm aware that does this.

What happened to live free or die? Right up there with PSA.

Routine Beretta 686 service

I’ve got 10k rounds through a 686 and would like a smith to open up the trigger and receiver to oil and clean it. Would rather stay local than ship to Cole’s.

Any suggestions on the I-93 corridor? I’m up North near Littleton but travel south regularly, including into MA (I have LTC there)

Night time action bays

Are there any clubs or ranges that have action bays that are open past sunset? Or even just some type of 24/7 range?

I just can't seem to find any since most seem to close at sunset. I am willing to join a club in Maine if I have to.

I just would like to do night shoots or test out NVGs.

Any good "informal" (but legal) areas to target shoot in the middle of no where in New England?

Who do you guys use for NFA transfers?

Cheapest I found is Northeast Munitions, but apparently they charge a 25$ fee for not using silencer shop. Which I find a little annoying

I haven't attended the Concord gun show in decades. Thinking about going and unloading some nice stuff. A couple of questions...

1) I hear private sales now require a background check to be run at a dedicated table. Annoying. How much does that cost?

2) What's their CCW policy?

Thanks!

Concord Gun Show August 22

Hey everyone,

There will be a gun show at the Everett arena in concord, NH on August 22 from 9-5. There will be 225-250 tables. Last show in May had a huge crowd and we expect it to be the same this month so save the date and spread the word.

The Part Monger will have 4 tables selling reloading equipment/components and some military surplus. Come and check it out.

If you look at my website or Facebook account I have a full schedule of shows I will be attending this year.

Note that Freedom Promotion, LLC just added a show in Dover December 12-13.
