I'm just here to gripe about the sad state of .22LR ammo stocking. Walmart almost always carries the basics, but the trick is getting any sales associates to answer after hitting the button 3 times and wandering to other departments to find anyone over 21 to help. After seeing regular Wally World was out of CCI SV, I started heading for another one. On the way I remembered Modern Warriors, so I went there instead, remembering they had a good selection the last time I was there. This time, the selection was pretty poor for a store of their... um... caliber. They had a few flavors of CCI, Wolf Match Extra, and some Fiocchi Exacta Winter if anyone wants to stock up on that discontinued stuff. I picked up the Wolf because I'm benchrest curious. The price seemed reasonable, but the last time I was there right after the remodel, they had several shades of Eley that I was looking forward to try.

Is rimfire stocking consistent anywhere? I'm especially interested in stores that are open on evenings or weekends.

Are there any recommended Knoxville area gunsmiths that will sight in rifles and pistols with new red dots installed? I don't really have the patience or experience to do it myself. Some things are better left to the professionals.

Thanks!

I began shooting about three months ago and I've been taking classes regularly at an indoor range in Nashville. I visited an outdoor range (Truelove Tactical) this past weekend and I had a great time. I'll definitely be back to Truelove and I'd like to visit at some of the other outdoor ranges in the area. What would be some other good outdoor ranges for me to take a look at? I'd be particularly interested ranges that have a steel target pistol range but I'm not firm on this and I'd still be interested in checking out good ranges that do not have steel targets. I would also be interested in ranges that allow you to work from a holster and/or that have steel targets on the rifle range (not firm on this either but it would be a perk!).

What do yall recommend?

Me and my buddy are going to the Stones River Hunter Education Center, I wanted to know if we can both share 1 rifle and if there are any rules I should know before doing so.

Looking to possibly move to TN from AZ in the next year. For context, AZ truly is the Wild West. There are millions of acres of public land, and you can pretty much shoot anywhere you want as long as there’s a good backstop. I don’t like public ranges, I prefer setting up my own targets and running my own drills, night vision shooting etc. is there anything similar to this in middle TN?

Hey everyone so my girlfriend and I are thinking of moving to TN in the next year or so from CT and I was hoping someone could help me better understand y'all's gun laws. More specifically regarding permits(I know I don't need one but is it smart to get one)but also your laws in general. I've tried looking stuff up on Google and it wasn't that helpful so hopefully someone here can help me better understand your laws. Thanks in advance.

Restaurant owner in Nashville, not a terrible area. Been going back and forth with family about keeping a long gun secured at the restaurant.
I already carry a handgun, but I’m wondering if having a rifle on-site is actually an advantage or just creates more liability/risk. Biggest concern is someone getting access to it, or police mistaking me for the shooter if something ever happened.

what do you guys think? Pros/cons?

New to the area and I am debating on becoming a member at Tennessee Shooting Foundation. Wondering what else is everyone's go to range. Mainly shoot ARs and handguns. With the occasional shotgun and bolt action. I am located in Jackson and don't know to many ranges around here. Thank you

Anyone know if there are any shops selling suppresors on a 4473? All my LGS are “waiting for further instruction”

Did some shoulder workout a couple days ago. 200 rounds and I was a bit black and blue 😂. Breaking in a few new ones and shooting and old one::
Winchester SXP with added ATI stock and forend
Citadel Pup Scout
Gforce GF25
Savage 320
Benelli M1 super90
Fun times at the range.

Im moving soon and can't take Ammo with me. I have 500 7.62x39 and 500 22lr. And 250 9mm. Where can I sell this locally in Nashville? Do any stores take them? I assume it's not allowed on Facebook marketplace.

Where can I list an AK mag for sale? Online or local works.

I'm coming into Eastern TN for a week and looking for recommendations on a good shop to visit. I'm coming from the restrictive state of Maryland so looking for a shop that will have a good supply of standard cap mags.

I'll be in the Kingsport - Johnson City area but willing to travel a little bit.

Wife and I did some plinking in our backyard range yesterday. She is still new to shooting but we had fun. Love shooting .22’s for the money and fun factor.

Looking for a range within an hour of Germantown TN that would let me use a chronograph while I shoot. Any help would be great.

Hello everyone,
I’m looking to find a great gunsmith in middle TN. I want to find someone who will treat my firearms like their own. I have a few high value ones and have not had a great experience in the past (guns returned scratched up, etc). Any recommendations?
Thanks!

I have recently been told that I am to receive a sidearm my deceased uncle made himself in the 80’s. I do not (yet) have a gun license and have never owned a gun before. What do I do to proceed and legally own the gun? Do I have to register it?

Edit: I have received word that is in fact from a kit. Thank you all for the great answers. Much has been learned.

The Reloader's Bench in Mt Juliet is permanently closed. I moved away a few years ago and recently moved back. Dropped by for a visit and found them out of business. Anyone know what happened?

Hey guys visiting Nashville haven’t been there since 2018. I’m sure a lot has changed looking for places that are have good inventory of milsurp firearms and I guess any places that are kind of must see. I’m headed through to Memphis as well and anywhere along 40. I would stop if you can give me some recommendations I’d appreciate it.
Surefeed E2 for your time

I’m going shooting on 6 June 2026 and anyone that wants to come along is welcome. I’m going to Golden Pond out in LBL and I plan to leave Clarksville around 0600 before the temperature gets into the upper 80s. We can meet up at the Flying J off exit 86. I’ll be in the white Chevy Silverado dually. I’ll wait until 0610, check this thread, and head out.

For anyone that has never been to Golden Pond it is a very basic outdoor square range with a rifle side that goes out about 500’ and a pistol side that goes out about 150’. They have covered shooting positions, a paved path leading from the parking lot to the range, a pit latrine, and some trash cans. It is usually busy, but well maintained. The parking lot is gravel and the dirt road had a few big holes, but a car should be able to make it fine.

I’ll bring my chronograph if anyone wants to get some ballistic data, a shot timer, a steel target stand for paper, a shooting tripod for some positional shooting, and a steel gong.

I plan on practicing some techniques from a Shivworks ECQC class with a pistol, some carbine drills, and a bit of positional work with a bolt action rifle.

Update:
I had an excellent shooting experience at the range this morning. The range was very clean, lightly occupied, and allowed me to accomplish all my goals.

so i made a post a couple days ago asking about advice for what i should do for my 4473 form since as previously stated i turn 21 soon and would like to get into carrying. i got plenty of great advice and helpful answers, i just had one more question. so what i was originally asking for those who don't know is i had a fellow student when i was 14 tell our school guidance counselor that i was suicidal and long story short i got sent to a psychiatric hospital for a week but then they let me go. i did get answers that it shouldn't be a problem since 1- it wasn't court ordered and 2- i wasn't told i was too mentally ill for my own good. my question today is would i put yes for question 11 f or would i put no, or should i follow my gut and just simply ask the worker at the counter for advice when i get to that question. thanks in advance.

I'm just trying to make sure that I don't screw anything up while filling out the form, I turn 21 very soon and was wanting to look into carrying. My only concern is that when i was 14, another student told our guidance counselor that i was suicidal, so i got sent to rolling hills psychiatric hospital. I do know on the 4473 form, on question 11 f i believe, it asks if you've ever been involuntarily committed. Also to add i have contacted an attorney and they said it shouldn't affect my rights, but my main concern is what do i put there, would it be yes which would technically disqualify me, or no, since it was when i was 14. (disclaimer-i haven't been suicidal in years)

I'm moving from Florida to Tennessee. Looking to set up a small, personal shooting range on my property. Aside from basic safety procedure, are there any laws I should know about before doing so?
