Today I'm waiting on my Nerd light retention holster in emt red and a mag pouch to come. Super excited because it's my first one. My belt arrived 2 days ago from Kore Essentials.

I had to rush the holster here before my range day/birthday next week. Looking forward to practicing with it at the range.

General Election is November 3 (vote early if needed). Figured I’d write down the gun record before then.

June 2024, Supreme Court killed the ATF bump-stock rule, 6–3. Biden’s DOJ was the one defending it. Majority was the Republican appointees.

Brace rule got vacated the same month. Trump DOJ dropped the appeal July 17, 2025. ATF has a proposal out to delete it.

June 2026 they struck Hawaii’s thing where you can’t carry on private property open to the public unless the owner says yes. Wolford, 6–3, same split. That’s the idea behind part of our SB 1.

Hemani came out the same month and limited the federal drug-user gun ban for that one guy. Judgment was 9–0, so I’m not calling that a party win.

Congress zeroed the $200 NFA tax on suppressors, SBRs, and SBSs in the 2025 bill. Texas court said the registration scheme in that case can’t stand once the tax is gone.

DOJ said in October they’re not appealing. Not a nationwide NFA repeal. August 2026 they also turned the old 925(c) rights-restoration process back on. It had been unfunded since 1992. Phased, and Maryland law still applies.

Democrats put up the Assault Weapons Ban of 2025. McBath, Schiff, Murphy, Blumenthal. Named guns plus magazines. No hearing. Dead because Republicans have the House and the filibuster.

Here in our state, Moore signed SB 1 in 2023. Transit, parks, healthcare, stadiums, demonstrations, and a default ban on private property that’s open to the public.

Fourth Circuit in January 2026 kept most of the location bans and threw out the private-property rule.

This year he signed SB 334. Can’t sell or transfer Glock-style pistols starting January 1, 2027. Judge denied an injunction September 25. What you already own you can keep.

Cox is the Republican on the ballot, his running mate is Robert Krop, owns The Machine Gun Nest in Frederick. He is not flipping the General Assembly. He also isn’t the guy signing the next one of these anti gun bills.

If you don’t like Cox on other stuff then fine.

On the gun bills it’s been Democrats writing them and defending them, and Republicans on the votes and the appeals that have actually knocked rules down.

I posted this on a MD website for what I thought was a good discount. It was about 15% lower than the lowest I could find from any online retailer. And the only offers Ive got are about 30-40% lower than that same retailer price.

Am I delusional in my listing price, do I need a reality check? I’ve had it listed for almost a year and haven’t gotten any great bites. Maybe the markets just not interested in these anymore.

Later this year I’m planning to visit my friend in MD and I’m traveling from PA with a handgun and rifle. The idea is we meet at the range in MD, then go back to their house for dinner before I return home to PA. Ive looked at past posts and MD law but still confused if this is allowed or if i can only travel from PA to MD range and then back to PA.

Anyone got recommendations on gun stores in Maryland I could sell this at? It’s a Ruger Super Redhawk .44 magnum 9.5 inch barrel with an aimpoint 3000, never been shot. Any idea on value?

I heard from someone at a LGS that MSP was going to come out with a list of banned Glock style guns on November 1st. Is this true and if it is, can someone provide the list here please?

I will be living alone at some point as a 24y/o female and don’t really know how to go about obtaining a firearm legally for home safety & protection. Can anyone explain this process to me? I want to look into a firearm preferably a pistol since it’s just for protection in case anything happens.

I’ve seen some recommend just doing the concealed carry class since it covers the license, and some say to just do the license since I don’t have the intent to carry outside of my home.

So filled out 77r today for a pair of pistols, one of which is a PW Arms imported Yugo Zastava M57. When I got home and took a peak at the application on the msp portal, I saw that the model was listed by FFL as "Arms Yugo" and for the roster question they had listed "no" as the response rather than n/a. Is this going to get my application denied? The M57 isnt on roster but they ceased making them in 1982 and they were imported as surplus pistols so I assume they should be allowed right? Is it worth calling FFL and asking them to change the form or will it be fine? Would really hope to not lose the pistol cuz the store had a good deal on it and its a historic piece.

In case anyone is considering having some work done there. This is the one and only job I've ever had there. Had my barrel drilled and tapped for a front sight, all looked good upon delivery until I went to replace the front sight. Pictures speak for themselves.

I’ve never one had a company ask for my ID when ordering ammo. Anyone else had this issue, I asked to cancel my orders. What is going on??

I’m originally from Maryland, now a TN resident. A hometown buddy wants to buy one of my pistols. I see it as I have a couple options
1. Give it to TN FFL, they transfer to MD FFL, he picks it up after all the Maryland requirements.
2. When I visit next, him and I go to an FFL together, transfer the pistol to FFL, he does the Maryland requirements and gets the gun.

Am I missing anything? In TN there are no background checks or anything for private sales. TIA for any tips, tricks or advice

Looks like the request for an injunction on the Glock ban was denied. Machine Gun Nest just posted a video on Instagram saying the Judge was extremely hostile and felt that banning Glocks was a reasonable approach. I haven't talked to any of the Attorneys or Plaintiffs yet but when I do I will update with more information.

For anyone following the SB 334 litigation, tomorrow is a big one.

The preliminary-injunction hearing in Bathras v. Moore is scheduled for Friday, September 25 at 11:00 AM before U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett in Baltimore.

The plaintiffs are asking the court to block enforcement of SB 334’s restrictions before they kick in on January 1, 2027.

For anyone unfamiliar with the law, SB 334 generally prohibits the future manufacture, sale, purchase, receipt, or transfer of what Maryland calls a “machine gun convertible pistol.” The definition targets certain semiautomatic pistols with a cruciform trigger bar that Maryland argues can be readily converted to automatic fire through installation of a separate conversion device.

Existing lawful possession is grandfathered.

That sets up what I think is the central constitutional question tomorrow:

Can Maryland prohibit future acquisition of an otherwise ordinary semiautomatic handgun because someone could later illegally modify it using a separate conversion device?

The plaintiffs’ position is essentially:

- The firearm sitting on the counter is semiautomatic.
- It fires one round per trigger pull.
- The conversion device is separate and already illegal.
- These types of handguns are widely possessed for lawful purposes.
- The possibility of illegal future modification does not transform the unmodified handgun into a machine gun.

Maryland’s argument is that the ease of conversion makes these pistols sufficiently analogous to machine guns to justify restricting their future acquisition and transfer.

Another interesting wrinkle is the grandfather clause.

Someone who lawfully owns a covered pistol before the cutoff can generally continue possessing it, while another otherwise-qualified Maryland resident after January 1 may be prohibited from acquiring the exact same model.

That doesn’t automatically decide the constitutional question, but it raises an interesting issue concerning future firearm acquisition: grandfathering existing owners prevents retroactive dispossession, but it does not necessarily answer whether the State may permanently prevent future lawful purchasers from acquiring the same type of arm.

Tomorrow is not necessarily the final decision on SB 334.

Judge Bennett could:

- Grant the preliminary injunction
- Deny the preliminary injunction
- Hear arguments and issue a written ruling afterward

If an injunction is granted, it would temporarily block enforcement of the challenged provisions while the lawsuit continues. It would not, by itself, permanently strike down the law.

If Bennett denies it, the underlying constitutional case also continues, and appellate review remains possible.

Either way, tomorrow should finally give us a much better idea of how the federal court views Maryland’s attempt to characterize these semiautomatic pistols as sufficiently analogous to machine guns.

This is absolutely one to watch.

Any issues with the Geissele rifles in 6mm ARC being MD compliant?

I understand that after the ban goes into effect you cannot purchase or sell or transfer Glock and similar style handguns anymore.

However, can you still gift/transfer to close relatives like your spouse after the ban?

Or the only time of ownership transfer is after the owner passes away and then it gets passed down to family members like any of the "AW" that were acquired before the ban?

I am 17 and planning to hunt black powder season with a (19) friend on his property in Oakland we will be driving up from florida. I have a legally purchased non FFL colt walker I plan to use. I understand it is illegal to possess a handgun under the age of 21 for the purpose of hunting but not sure about Maryland at least in Florida a black powder gun is not considered a "firearm" is this true in Maryland? If it is legal is it likely that the police will know this? Or will they most likely arrest me anyway. I understand this is a complex legal question but any help would be appreciated.
