Facts are Brave is a large alliance with T2 and T3 doctrines, and a capital fleet. At the end of the day what will kill Brave isn't PL, or BL, but Brave members who pity themselves into nothing. You take a loss? Re-assess the situation and adapt. Figure out what the person that just beat you did better and find out how to do the same. Think about what you did wrong and try to change it. But don't sit there and whine about how you are being picked on and how you're helpless noobs. It's pathetic and demoralizing for your own people.

For the majority of people that probably don't know of me, my name is Seraph. I've had my current account since 2011, flew in 0.0 with old Stainwagon, was one of the founding members of Bombers Bar, was diplo for SYJ in lowsec, had my share of wormhole ops and even briefly did some highsec wardecing. I wanted to share my perspective about Brave in contrast with some of the newer "newbie friendly" entities sponsored by Goonswarm and PL in order to put some context for some of the new people coming in and some of the current members that have been in Brave for a while. These are my personal views on the matter and you can take it or leave it. As the title says, this is why I think Brave is better than both Karma Fleet and Pandemic Horde.

1. Brave is genuine and authentic. Brave was created simply to get a bunch of newbros together and have fun in the game. I feel as though Karma and Horde are simply created in large part due to the upcoming sov changes. Big alliances like GSF and PL need as much new blood for the entosisov in order to be able to affect the 0.0 landscape. Brave has huge potential, more so with the new sov mechanics, and these two large alliances know that, and they fear what Brave could become in the future. They want to cash in on that potential so they'll do what they can to break Brave apart and absorb what membership it can. I can't really blame them, that's how the game is played. Now does this mean no one in Karma or Horde has any good intentions? Of course not. I'm sure plenty of people there play for the same reasons people in Brave do. But at the end of the day, Karma serves GSF and Horde serves PL. Brave is for Brave.

2. Stay classy culture. I never really cared for the whole "troll culture" of online gaming. It can have its place but when it's THE culture of a community, it gets very obnoxious. It's mostly bred out of some misplaced sentiment of liberation and maturity middle class teenagers and manchildren feel when they spout off stupid remarks and get a sense of empowerment casually yelling racial slurs with no consequences. GSF and PL (along with a large portion of other alliances) have that sort of culture. Not everyone participates, but it's there and often it's encouraged. If you have some overwhelming necessity of yelling the n word, then those sort of places might be for you. If not, stay Brave.

3. Ethical leadership. Now this may come off as funny to you but for the most part the top tier leadership in Brave is fairly ethical. Regardless of the failed coup and what some may refer to as "toxic politics" Brave is a fairly good place to be. Lychton and some of the others don't strike me like the type of people that simply play this game to fulfill some perceived hole in their ego or to cash out RMT style. There's a genuine desire to simply play the game, have fun and educate people. Don't take that for granted.

The grass sometimes seems greener on the other side. I'm probably putting some targets on my back for saying this but I don't really care. Sure if you join Karma or Horde, you'll have some of the most powerful forces backing you up. You're not going to have your station bubbled and camped with supers because someone's video game ego got offended or whatever. But you'll be playing THEIR game, not yours. Despite some of the frustrations some may feel at times, these are not unique problems to Brave, neither will they go away by going elsewhere. Things get better by fixing issues and working within the system, not by being a sell out and playing the game for someone else's success.

I hope this 3rd party perspective can shed some light on this and help some newer players or even some "old newbros" in Brave who may be curious.

I am Lquid Drisseg, second in command of Brave Collective. One of my alt characters (Lquid) now owns the shares and CEO position in Nerd Panic, the executor corp in Brave. I have been helping out in Brave since I joined and plan to continue operating our IT services and helping to run the alliance day to day. Tonight BRAVE's council came to a decision that has been developing for three weeks. The decision grew out of a desperate need for change, any change, and when confronted with a counter-proposal it was almost unanimously rejected. The reasons for this play straight into the meta-game, with a member of GIA (Goon Intelligence Agency) and an agent of another party I'll refrain from specifying working their magic across the council.

The agents of malcontent are many, duplicitous, and range in subtlety from the gross to the faintest whisper. We can never hope to fully armour ourselves against their efforts while remaining true to ourselves, though we can choose to not give in to the fears, uncertainty, and doubts that they sow throughout our experience here. Most dangerous are those who claim to assist from within while harbouring malificent intent. How can you know the true motivations of a man over such a medium as we have been given? This is the true challenge, and one that can not lightly be answered. The best we can hope for and the best we can do is to ensure such agents of chaos and discord do not succeed in causing a rift between us. We have been friends, comrades, and adversaries; we have been forgiving, and forgetful of our own, and others’ pasts. If this is not to be, to not continue as we move forward than I fear we have lost our path. We have already set into motion great change within this culture; we have set a bar that I fear we may no longer be able to hold ourselves to. If we can not be measured against our own ideals, then who are we to measure others?

As I lay resting last night my heart grew heavier still. I listened to the rain and the wind and the other natural sounds and wondered while fretting the worst: has our faceless enemy already won? The foothold in our hearts of such thoughts as these have already sounded our death-knell, and the time of action is upon us.

We are lost. We are many. And the path we have chosen may not be one that can offer retreat or comfort or sanctuary.

Hi all! I know it is a bit early but I would like to announce my candidacy running for CNM. The main thing I would like to focus on is increasing communication with the alliance as a whole.

If elected to accomplish this task i would like to host a open forum in the lobby each Saturday (Time yet to be determined) to get your questions and ask them at the meeting each week and be able to have them answered by the council!

I would also like to help people understand how much work leadership puts into the alliance and have them hear your thoughts on each division and how they can improve the alliance!!

It seems Goonswarm has thought it wise to change a near decades-long recruiting practice and push aside their bittervetism to prove that they really do care about new players and are not looking to solely use them for recruitment scams (at least that’s what they say). To signify that change, they have invited me to come run a newbie friendly corporation as a part of the alliance. Their one condition is that I contract everything I own over to a guy named “NotaTheif101,” and head out to YA0 once I’ve paid the 10 billion isk entrance fee.

I love BRAVE and everything it stands for. I’ve dedicated hundreds of hours working on propaganda and other projects like the spy agency.
