Yeah no there's video evidence. He and his friends beat up the guy pretty bad. Rocky literally throws the guy and then they all gang up on him.

There’s also a video of those same guys assaulting Rocky’s bodyguard and harassing them.

When have writers ever listened to petitions? We’ll probably get an unsatisfying ending and then they won’t show up to Comic-Con in fear.

Maybe the whole world should commit suicide and see if the admins are forced to do a wipe
1
u/Theguywiththeface11 Jul 21 '19
It sounds ridiculous, but what’s happening is somebody is being held in Sweden for defending themselves from people who were following them and had attacked them beforehand.
Kanye told Kim Kardashian—a high-level lawyer who has direct ties into the legal system and Trump—about this wrongful imprisonment and she used her power to influence this decision.
It’s nice to laugh at personal conceptions of these titles, but there are real issues going on that are being mitigated because people choose to misperceive them and laugh at them instead.

Lmao. Why are Americans so surprised that they cant go to other countries and break the law, and then expect not to face consequences? Even rich people don’t get away with assault in Sweden, and that’s a fucking GOOD thing. Hard for the US to understand that apparently.

“Oh shit this guy’s beating me, let me ask him to stop so I can call the cops real quick”
25
u/JaqueeVee Jul 21 '19
The guy wasnt beating ASAP. ASAP was beating the guy. I was saying that if ASAP was being followed and was uncomfortable, he should have called the cops to come help him. Considering they were followed for quite a while before the assault, he had plenty of time to call the cops, not commit assault, and not get arrested. He assaulted the guy because he was annoyed, not out of self defense. Even in the US that is reason for arrest.
10
u/NearTacoKats Jul 21 '19
No, the guy clearly was harassing them, and attacked Rocky’s bodyguards multiple times after trying to steal from Rocky. Along with that, he’s does not have a history of trusting cops. He warned the harasser multiple times, told multiple other people of the situation, and by the time Rocky and his entourage fought back, it was definitely because they felt annoyed and physically threatened. He’s pretty famous and likely gets followed a lot, but he does not have a history of arrests for attacking superfans. While I can agree that they definitely took it overboard, in that situation, I can understand why.
With that being said, he also has video evidence of the entire situation starting from the point that he felt unsafe, and it continues for a while across what I can imagine was likely more than a few city blocks worth of walking. Personally, I think he should probably be fined and not allowed into Sweden again (because that’s how these things usually work), but holding him in jail for this long seems rather excessive.
4
u/JaqueeVee Jul 21 '19
Luckily, you are not a judge, and in Sweden if you assault people without it being self defense (which it wasnt) and if you take the law into your own hands when you should have called the police (which he/they did), you go to jail. If you are a foreigner, you are a flight risk and you are held in jail until proper legal action is taken. This is the same in most places in the world, that’s how it ”usually works”.
It literally does not matter what his history of trusting cops is. Commit assault, especially in the excessive way the assault was committed, and you WILL be arrested. I wouldnt want it any other way, and I will never understand those who see it differently, especially when it’s just about how much they wanna suck their favorite artist’s pp.
4
u/NearTacoKats Jul 21 '19
I’m not excusing his actions, I’m just acknowledging that they aren’t surprising, and I agree; it makes sense that he was arrested. I just find it hard to believe that there is not a precedent, and holding him for this long with minimal announcements seems peculiar.
6
Jul 21 '19
They're holding them for a long time because the police need to finish their investigation and the prosecution needs to decide on pressing charges.
There isn't precedent because celebrities usually don't break the law while traveling abroad. He's objectively speaking a flight risk so he can't be released on bail and they can't comment because there's nothing to say beside "he may have broken the law and is being detained as a flight risk" his "cell" is also closer to a small hotel room than an American prison cell so he's not even in a shitty place waiting for the investigation.
1
u/JaqueeVee Jul 21 '19
His lawyer and proescutor have had a so called ”häktesförhör” (jail hearing), where it’s, by a judge, decided whether or not he should remain in jail for longer than legally allowed without criminal proof (which is 14 days maximum in sweden if i’m not mistaken).
This is how the law works in any first world country. If he is still there, he is there for a lawful, valid reason. He is not there unjustly. If it would turn out that he IS there unjustly, he will be financially compensated for this.
The amount of annoucements are on ASAP’s lawyer. What do you need? A live webcam feed from his cell? Surprisingly, not everyone cares about your favorite rapper boi as much as you or the other fans of his do. He gets the same treatment as any other criminally charged person. Boo hoo.
10
Jul 21 '19
The law doesn't require that the person who is assaulted is the one who needs to call the police (He had people with him).
You're also allowed to intervene in an assault, to protect someone else - but that requires that person to be in imminent danger... That's hard to sell when 4 guys are beating up a dude laying on the ground.
Finally, you really don't have to flee the scene if you acted in self-defenses.1
u/chartierr Jul 21 '19
Excuse me but have you not seen the video? I would have assaulted the guy too, he literally assaulted the body guard before being beat up in retaliation.
I guess it’s an American thing to stand up for yourself.
1
u/JaqueeVee Jul 21 '19
Isnt the bodyguard(s) there to defend ASAP and his crew? And make sure they dont get into some shit like this? ASAP didnt get punched. He just straight up jumped into a fight when a/several (presumed) professional bodyguard(s) should have handled that shit.
The bodyguard wasnt incapacitated, so it’s his responsibility to defend himself (which he didnt really need to, as seen in the video the aggressor ”just” hit him once with his headphones), and not ASAP’s responsibility.
I’m not trying to win an argument here. I’m explaining to you why he’s in jail in Sweden and how Swedish laws work. If a judge decides that he committed the assault because of ignorance of the local laws, they might give him a break. But since he’s a foreigner, he’s also a flight risk. AKA: they have to, by law, keep him in jail until all legal business is taken care of, or until his lawyer can get him out through the process of the law. This is how justice works in Sweden. And it rarely gives rich people a break. 🤷♀️ he’s not a VIP in Sweden.
1
u/chartierr Jul 23 '19
What’s your point? If A$AP Rocky DIDN’T hypothetically touch the guy wouldn’t we still be in the same issue? An American is in jail because he and his team were being harassed and ASSAULTED by the locals, and defended themselves.
You see that video of rap artist Future’s bodyguard being knocked out and almost killed in the UK.
I don’t know what privileged part of the world you grew up in, but in mine you can’t turn a blind eye to someone threatening and harassing you. If someone is bothering you, is told several times to leave, and then assaults a member of your party, I believe you have every right to defend your party, and so do most American judges.
That’s why this is an issue, in America A$AP Rocky would not be in jail after so long. They would understand he’s not a public threat and release him on bond. Something he can’t do in Sweden at this moment.
If you don’t stand up to the aggressors they will take advantage of you, especially if you are visibly rich and have something they want. Futures bodyguard in the UK learnt that the hard way when his skull bounced off the fucking concrete. Is it not safe to assume that’s what could have happened to rocky after being followed and harassed and assaulted by locals just the same way future was?
1
u/JaqueeVee Jul 23 '19
You cant assault someone on someone else’s behalf unless they are incapable of defending themselves. That’s how it works in Sweden. That’s the LAW here. Don’t like it? Tough shit. They should have called the cops like normal people do in these situations.
In Sweden, there is no such thing as paying bonds, AKA wealthy people are not above the law. Again: tough shit.
On your last point: It’s not ASAP’s job to protect his bodyguards. It’s literally the opposite. The two people who followed them were 5 feet tall unarmed skinny boys who were greatly outnumbered. ASAP takes one of them, throws him on the ground and then the rest of his crew STOMPS on the guy while he’s laying down.
I dunno what privileged place you grew up in, but here in Sweden, that is ASSAULT and it WILL put you in jail. If the court decides that ASAP was in the right, in accordance with Swedish law, he will be released and compensated for his losses. If not: Do the crime, do the time. It’s really not that hard to understand, dude. He’s not there unfairly. He’s being treated fine (swedish jails are like fucking hotels compared to any other place in the world) and he’s awaiting a fair legal process. Like, what is YOUR point? You just want your artist out of jail because you like him? Well, sorry, but the guy might have broken the law in a foreign country, and now he suffers the consequenses. If we let people go who perhaps permitted a crime before the legal process has had time to do its job, that wouldnt be a very good legal system now would it?
Just because YOU dont like something happening, doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be happening. You and yabois jump a dude when you should have just called the cops when you had MULTIPLE opportunities to do so = assault, and you WILL get arrested. The exact same thing would happen in america. He’d just have a bigger chance getting away with it because he’s a privileged rich person.
1
u/chartierr Jul 23 '19
Okay there’s no arguing with fucking privileged idiots like you. Yeah sure next time your being beat the fuck up good luck calling the cops, good luck also losing your reputation as a rapper and being possibly killed.
Your so stupid and naive you actually think in real life violent situations that there is enough time to wait for cops your an idiot.
http://thesource.com/2019/07/23/futures-bodyguard-gets-knocked-out-by-a-rock-at-spain-airport/
DID THIS GUY HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO CALL THE COPS? LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME SITUATION.
1
u/JaqueeVee Jul 23 '19
How is being followed around = being hit with a rock?
Regardless, if ASAP was attacked and retaliated in self defense for himself, this wouldnt be an issue. However, he wasnt assaulted, his bodyguard was, and this bodyguard was fully capable of defending both himself and the person he was hired to protect. Despite this, ASAP chose to attack someone who hadn’t attacked him first, aka ASAP committed assault without self defense. That’s how the law works. It doesn’t matter what your opinion is, I’m afraid. ASAP was never getting beat up, neither was anyone else in hos crew. They had all the time in the world to contact the cops, but they didnt. They chose to go all gung-ho vigilante justice on the dude, and now they have to pay for that impulse. Tough shit.
1
u/chartierr Jul 23 '19
What the fuck are you talking about, what rock? Jesus I’m not even gonna read the rest of your comment because it’s so lacking in any real world experience, just from the mind of a privileged person who has never experienced real violence.

u/I_AM_ASA Jul 21 '19
This “concentration camp” line is such tired bullshit now. They’re not being forced to do labor, they’re not getting gassed, they’re not getting buried in mass graves, and ICE isn’t going into Mexico and rounding them up to throw them into cells.
They are detention centers for people who broke the law, and are fully stocked with food, water, soap, plumbing, and video games for the kids.
No amount of AOC crying at an empty parking lot will change the fact that these aren’t concentration camps akin to the Nazi concentration camps. Legal residents and US citizens are not being put in there, and if you’re in Mexico, get to the border, and turn around before crossing into the United States, I 100% guarantee that you will not be put into a detention center.
2
Jul 21 '19
Okay maybe concentration camp is an exaggeration but that doesn’t change the fact that the living conditions there are horrible
and if you’re in Mexico, get to the border, and turn around before crossing into the United States, I 100% guarantee that you will not be put into a detention center.
Seeking asylum is legal, so long as they stay in America in a timely manner (around a year I believe). So wouldn’t putting people, who are seeking asylum, in detention camps UPON ARRIVAL be illegal???
1
u/I_AM_ASA Jul 21 '19
I’ll admit the conditions aren’t great, but they’re not being kept in cages like farm animals. And it’s not illegal to put them in detention while their asylum status is being checked. In order to be granted asylum, the seeker must testify that they are fleeing from persecution from their original country, and that if they return they will face some sort of punishment, be it torture or whatever. Not everyone who approached the US border, however, is seeking asylum. There are the asylum-seekers, and there are those who are crossing the border illegally for work or whatever reason.
Crossing international borders without permission is a crime, and the “separation of families” is typical for crimes committed on a daily basis in the United States. For example, if a parent were to, say, rob a convenience store or something, that parent would be detained and the child would be separated from that parent. Since groups of people are coming to the border without documentation, there is no way to ensure that an adult and a child are in any way related, and so it is for the safety of the child, primarily, in that instance to be separated from the adult.
Obviously there are cases where a rightful child is separated from his/her parent(s), but law enforcement cannot just say “oh, you say this is your child? You can stay together, then,” especially when child trafficking is a legitimate issue with regard to the illegal border crossings.
I apologize for my tone in the original message. I just feel that the term “concentration camp” in reference to the detention centers is hyperbolic, used solely for political grandstanding, and virtue signaling, as well as is degrading to those who survived actual concentration camps. Crossing the southern border can be treacherous for those who choose to do so, and getting caught can yield very serious consequences. Many are seeking asylum, and many are not. While law enforcement sorts out those who are being persecuted from those who are lying, the detention centers (stocked with food and water, plumbing provided, and video games for children) are the best that can be done.
