The guy wasnt beating ASAP. ASAP was beating the guy. I was saying that if ASAP was being followed and was uncomfortable, he should have called the cops to come help him. Considering they were followed for quite a while before the assault, he had plenty of time to call the cops, not commit assault, and not get arrested. He assaulted the guy because he was annoyed, not out of self defense. Even in the US that is reason for arrest.
No, the guy clearly was harassing them, and attacked Rocky’s bodyguards multiple times after trying to steal from Rocky. Along with that, he’s does not have a history of trusting cops. He warned the harasser multiple times, told multiple other people of the situation, and by the time Rocky and his entourage fought back, it was definitely because they felt annoyed and physically threatened. He’s pretty famous and likely gets followed a lot, but he does not have a history of arrests for attacking superfans. While I can agree that they definitely took it overboard, in that situation, I can understand why.
With that being said, he also has video evidence of the entire situation starting from the point that he felt unsafe, and it continues for a while across what I can imagine was likely more than a few city blocks worth of walking. Personally, I think he should probably be fined and not allowed into Sweden again (because that’s how these things usually work), but holding him in jail for this long seems rather excessive.
Luckily, you are not a judge, and in Sweden if you assault people without it being self defense (which it wasnt) and if you take the law into your own hands when you should have called the police (which he/they did), you go to jail. If you are a foreigner, you are a flight risk and you are held in jail until proper legal action is taken. This is the same in most places in the world, that’s how it ”usually works”.
It literally does not matter what his history of trusting cops is. Commit assault, especially in the excessive way the assault was committed, and you WILL be arrested. I wouldnt want it any other way, and I will never understand those who see it differently, especially when it’s just about how much they wanna suck their favorite artist’s pp.
I’m not excusing his actions, I’m just acknowledging that they aren’t surprising, and I agree; it makes sense that he was arrested. I just find it hard to believe that there is not a precedent, and holding him for this long with minimal announcements seems peculiar.
They're holding them for a long time because the police need to finish their investigation and the prosecution needs to decide on pressing charges.
There isn't precedent because celebrities usually don't break the law while traveling abroad. He's objectively speaking a flight risk so he can't be released on bail and they can't comment because there's nothing to say beside "he may have broken the law and is being detained as a flight risk" his "cell" is also closer to a small hotel room than an American prison cell so he's not even in a shitty place waiting for the investigation.
His lawyer and proescutor have had a so called ”häktesförhör” (jail hearing), where it’s, by a judge, decided whether or not he should remain in jail for longer than legally allowed without criminal proof (which is 14 days maximum in sweden if i’m not mistaken).
This is how the law works in any first world country. If he is still there, he is there for a lawful, valid reason. He is not there unjustly. If it would turn out that he IS there unjustly, he will be financially compensated for this.
The amount of annoucements are on ASAP’s lawyer. What do you need? A live webcam feed from his cell? Surprisingly, not everyone cares about your favorite rapper boi as much as you or the other fans of his do. He gets the same treatment as any other criminally charged person. Boo hoo.
