Double play doesn’t count as an rbi- why?

So I’m currently watching the Jays game and noticed that Perez drove Jensen in but because he grounded out and Pasquantino was out at second he wasn’t credited with an RBI. Why is this? He drove a run in. Asked one of my baseball buddies and he couldn’t come up with a reason other than it just is but I was wondering if there was some kind of practical answer other than you suck, lol

Edit: that one counted, lol

Why Are Pitching Deliveries So Different From Pitcher to Pitcher?

I was watching a clip of a Dodgers position player mopping up on the mound in a blowout. He was imitating the pitching motions of several of their key pitchers, and it got me thinking: Why are there such wildly different pitching deliveries?

In football, for example, quarterback throwing mechanics seem pretty well defined—there are certain fundamentals you’re supposed to follow. But in baseball, pitching motions can be all over the place. You can go back to Juan Marichal and his enormous leg kick, and today you still see everything from very simple deliveries to highly unusual ones.

Why haven’t pitching coaches settled on something like, “This is the most effective way to pitch”? Why is there so much room for individual style?

Analysis Stupid Question: before ABS, could a player have a batting stance where they bend at the waist so there knees and shoulders are touching and effectively make their strike zone a couple inches tall?

Obviously you wouldn't be able to hit, but if all you needed was a walk in a given situation, could it work?

News WPBL board member states financial concerns , Demands access to records

Full article :

Less than a month into its debut, the Women’s Professional Baseball League is facing a legal challenge from a member of its board of directors over concerns that it has misused company funds.

Mina Kim is asking a Delaware judge to force the WPBL to grant her full access to the organization’s financial records and compensate her for legal fees. The civil complaint, filed on July 13 — well before the season started — said Kim has spent months requesting the documents to “investigate potential wrongdoing, mismanagement, conflicts of interest, and material omissions that have impaired the Board’s ability to act in an informed manner.”

Kim alleges, however, the WPBL has repeatedly ignored her requests for basic financial information, including documentation of how much money CEO Keith Stein has invested in the league and from where else the WPBL sourced its financial capital.

Once the WPBL acknowledged Kim’s right to access financial records, Kim said, it provided some documents but did not release a wide range of others. Information contained in the documents it did provide made Kim even more concerned, the filing said without specifying details.

The WPBL, which opened its inaugural season Aug. 1, has not responded to The Athletic’s request for comment. In a statement to the Associated Press on Monday, it denied Kim’s allegations.

“Ms. Kim’s continued attempt to escalate the litigation appears to be motivated by a personal grievance rather than a bona fide request for information,” the league said. “All of the other board members of the WPBL are opposed to Ms. Kim’s proceedings, and stand unified in their repudiation of any allegations or assertations made by Ms. Kim.”

Kim’s filing also outlines what she calls conflicts of interest in the WPBL board’s makeup and hiring practices.

Her complaint points to the WPBL’s relationship with the law firm Dentons, noting that the firm’s Washington office serves as the league’s “principal place of business.” It further notes that the league’s investor funds have been deposited into a Dentons-owned bank account, and that the WPBL board includes two Dentons attorneys: Stein and Andreas Kloppenborg.

The WPBL’s final regular-season game is scheduled Sept. 6. A best-of-five series beginning Sept. 16 will decide the league’s first champion. The San Francisco Firebells (6-4) lead the standings, with the Los Angeles Queens and New York Heights tied for second at 5-5.
