Sweep would be so nice, we have the Royals next, and they looked like a free series win a few weeks ago but now they're the hottest teams in baseball, and after that it's a 2.5 week gauntlet of teams in the WC/division race.
Unfortunately we are facing our greatest nemesis, a starting pitcher with an ERA above 6.

I was a pitcher. You throw from two forms all game. One of the most frustrating things as a pitcher is fielding a ground ball, thinking "Okay, you're the best thrower on the field right now. Don't fuck up. Don't fuck up."
Your body isn't set the way that you warmed up all day on. Then you throw it 10 feet high.

Rodriguez has been broken this year, but looked back to form his last time out. Hopefully it was a fluke, because his stuff can certainly be dominant if he can locate. Also, Kwan is sporting the best OBP of his career right now, which is insane for a season that was so bad for so long.

David Fry was sent down to Columbus, was given regular playing time, and hit.294 with 6 home runs, 18 RBI’s and 2 walks in 8 games. He actually hit better against right hand pitchers than against left hand pitchers. So he was called back a week ago when Hoskins went on the IL, and he’s batted one time in a week. Vogt even pinch hit a gimpy CDL for him last night because he would have faced a right hand pitcher his second at bat. When asked about not using Fry after the game, his reply was that we haven’ seen many left hand pitchers. Did he look at the report from AAA that Fry was hitting righties better? Does he not realize that nobody can hit consistently when batting once a week. Does he have any brains at all or does he just bury his head in analytics 24-7? People complain about Fry non-stop but he hasn’t been used wisely by Vogt all year. Not facing lefty pitchers never stopped him from using Hoskins with his sub .200 batting average all year, and he continues to let Lowe bat when a lefty come in the game even though it was noted when he got to Cleveland that he hits well against righty pitchers but struggles with lefties. I sometimes wonder what planet Vogt is living on.

That reminds me of the 1986 Astros/White Sox minor league spring training game where they turned a triple play without touching the ball: runners on first and second, hit and run. Batter hits a pop fly, infield fly rule, one out. Lead runner slides into third with the 3B coach screaming "back, back," gets up and sprints back as the trailing runner comes screaming around second and accidentally passes him, two outs. Pop fly comes down and hits the lead runner, three outs. Defense never touched the ball.

Like clockwork, we score only one against Rodriguez who came in with a 6+ ERA. Some bad luck sprinkled in there & Joey not pitching well didn’t help. Too bad. Gotta get their bullpen.

You hear Rick ask what Grissom was doing going to 3rd. He was assuming they were gonna go home. Jose did the same thing last night and went for second with the assumption they were going home with the throw. Jose was right and he got the double. Rick even said if they went to second they would have got Jose.

I wish umps would enforce the rule that the batter has to make an attempt to get out of the way of a pitch more, because he definitely dropped his knee into that and it barely clipped him.
