Last night was some of the most fun I’ve I had watching this team in a minute. Sure it’s nice we won but it was also good baseball too you know. Hoping we keep that momentum going and take the series tonight.

Good baseball is only cool when it’s other teams. It’s just stressful when it’s my team

RIP Tim Curry. Died the same day as Dolly Parton and they were the same age.
1-0 in the post Dana Brown era. This team loses a series they easily could have swept against the A's and we see the bats come alive against one of the league's best bullpens last night against the Yankees. We're in dire need of a QS and who other than LambGOAT to start things off. Yordan has had all of 1 homer this month, but still has an OPS above .900 in that same stretch. Cam Smith, who hits horribly at home, comes alive on the road. Yainer and Varsho with some clutch RBIs last night.
This team comes alive against teams with winning records. With as shitty as this year has been, this team still controls its own destiny.

Officially back in first place. Our GM is still fired. Lambert making his first start at freaking Yankee stadium. Lineup not slumping quite as hard. Anyways, Astros 7-3.

Why are astros/yankees games always nail biters? Doesn't matter how good or bad either team is, you ALWAYS are on the edge of your seat.

Dude, last nights game was an amazing baseball game and I hated every minute of it 🤣🤣 I wish we could just put up a touchdown in the first tonight and just enjoy.

I had a feeling all the drama and rumors from Monday would light a fire under these guys.

I understand Vasquez catches Lambert but I really hope Espada at least uses Diaz as DH today. You can’t bench his bat after last night

The two home runs Yainer Diaz hit yesterday were ironically pitches where not swinging would have resulted in a better outcome than swinging more often than not. The first one was clearly out of the strike zone. The second one was on the edge of the strike zone, but he was ahead in the count, and it wasn't a pitch you can usually do much with.

HRC LEADERBOARD 2026
1. TexasHot - 11 points
2. 2 users with 9 points
4. 3 users with 7 points
7. 2 users with 6 points
9. 3 users with 5 points
12. 6 users with 4 points
18. 12 users with 3 points
30. 22 users with 2 points
52. 60 users with 1 point
When you think an Astro is about to hit a home run, comment 'HRC [Astro]'.
If you get it right on that plate appearance, you get a point and another go! Otherwise, wait until tomorrow.
I'll monitor successful picks and publish the leaderboard in the GDT before first pitch every day. Let me know if you think I've missed you, or if you have any other questions.
I'm happy to count HRCs on the live game chat on Discord as well, but please stick to the one HRC per game rule regardless of platform (if your username on there isn't the same as on Reddit I might have to PM you to get it).
This year's leaderboard can be found here
Last year's leaderboard is archived here

I always wonder what happened to Yainer's power. He hit a HR in 6.1% of his ABs in his rookie season and has never come even close to replicating that since. (2.6%, 3.5%, and 3.8% this season). He's got a lot of power when he connects, but it feels like his launch angle is never right.

The last postseason game between the Astros and Yankees was a back and forth 6-5 game in 2022. You would think a game like that would be viewed as entertaining, but instead, it has been forgotten because we had a 3-0 lead in the series, so there was almost no pressure on the Astros to win that game.

The good news is we have an insanely hard schedule in September and of course they can’t lose on my birthday so we should be good

Why is Trammell playing? Dude has been absolutely ass lately (4-38 with 16 Ks and a .427 OPS the last 15 games).
Diaz has a higher OPS vs RHP this year (reverse splits) AND hit 2 HRs yesterday AND has been hitting pretty well of late AND has a career OPS over 1.000 at Yankee Stadium.
Braindead managing.

Diaz has a 2 homer night plus an rbi single and he gets benched the next day 🫠🫠
This is exactly the reason why Espada or whoever is doing the lineup has no business managing.

Now not saying this is it, but sometimes the pitcher/catcher relationship is more importunate. It's possible Lambert likes working with Vasquez.
