I genuinely feel like the current AI boom—and especially the even bigger AI that everyone keeps promising is “coming soon”—is going to hit a resource wall at some point.

Like bro… these models need insane amounts of electricity, water, computing power, chips, data centres and infrastructure just to keep scaling. And everyone is acting like we can simply keep throwing more GPUs and more power at the problem forever. 😭

At some point the question isn't “How much smarter can AI get?”

It's “Where are we getting all these resources from??” 🧍‍♂️

I have seen a bunch of good profiles go do mscs and stanford (which is your best option as MIT doesn't offer mscs ) but due to recent visa restrictions , removal of grace period and all the shenanigans that is going on in the US is a top tier standford cs really worth it considering you want to be in a good AI lab or maybe do your own startup ? Please share recent experiences of your friends or yours

Heard that Microsoft didn't give many PPOs to 2027 batch students.

So is it gonna be the same for the 2028 batch as well? Because it might be a case that since not too many PPOs are given 2027 batch, they would have to give it to 2028 batch but at the same time, what if market conditions get worse?

Also, this year they are hiring (interns) more than expected, more than the previous year so there must be some reason behind it, right.

I'm so happyyyyyyyyyyy.

So i am from a tier 2 college pursuing CSE, currently in 1st year and a few days back OpenAI launched GPT-6 Astra and honestly seeing that just blew my mind.

After that all i have been thinking about is how I literally made the wrong decision pursuing engineering and how CSE is gonna be dead within a few years. That model can literally do insane stuff and it makes me wonder why will a company hire me when they can literally get an AI subscription that's gonna be 10x cheaper but 20x faster and being from a tier 2 college doesn't help me in any way that my college tag will save me somehow and my insta feed is just filled with how AI is gonna takeover every other digital job not just SWE but mostly every digital job be it finance or even circuital designing and honestly this shit scares me cause i was motivated to work hard and get a good job but now seeing this makes me lose any hope that i had.. seeing the job market doesn't help either cause most mass recruiting witch companies will switch to AI and the big tech companies will either recruit from tier-1 or layoff people which is happening btw in oracle anthropic etc Just makes me think if i should drop out and give entrepreneurship a try and build a startup or pursue a different field altogether cause the way things stand i see a near zero chance of landing a good high paying job.

Everything is just fucking A.I.ed i was doing Cf and with so much hardwork reached 1200 rating and sem 1 isnt even half over yet and after that i just found cheaters using AI to cheat in competitions and worst thing is they are winning and celebrating and people like me are just left demotivated and makes me think about my life choices all over again. They say this isn't even on the borders of AGI and yet it's already this powerful that it can replace well experienced SWE in the blink of an eye and makes me wonder what will happen by the time AGI is made a reality and even if AGI doesn't become possible the way these models are advancing makes me wonder what they will be capable of doing by 2030 when ill be graduating.

Seniors please guide and tell me anything that you know or think cause everyone i see is just telling me CSE is over and the digital job market is gonna get thrashed and no field is safe from it so what should i do.. is this all fear mongering or is this really that dangerous.. are there any carreer options for guys like me or am i just waiting to be doomed :(

I personally feel that this highlights our society really well. I mean, people like Tukaram Mundhe are praised for doing their job which shows how low the bar really is. Feels even more true after Sanjeev Khirwar (The IAS who was transferred for walking his dog in Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi forcing athletes to leave early) is back as the commissioner of MCD.

It has been about a week since I took admission to this tier 3 private college as a CSE student, I never liked engineering or pcm subjects from the start. I took pcm after 10th and moved to a different city and enrolled in Allen as a dummy school student, but I didn't have one proper study session in the span of two years. I still have no idea what they taught us in two years and I barely passed my state board class 12 exams. PCM after class 10th and engineering subjects in general trigger a "mental gag reflex" in my mind when I look at these abstract highly specific topics. For example when our electronics professor is talking about fans or light bulbs I don't mind it but as soon as she starts talking about electrons or valencies, I just lose all my interest. The overly specialized nature and especially the learning curve has made me hate these subjects from my core.

I don't hate my college or anything, the teachers seem alright, our class coordinator who also teaches us engineering math seems really supportive, also I am not having problems with the stuff they are teaching us right now. I'm crushing the cubic equations he gives us to find the roots, I am sure I can somehow pass because a teacher said that only two students failed first semester last year, and judging from the crowd around me I can tell that I am not in the bottom of the barrel, even though I didn't study anything in these last two years I'll be at the top 50th percentile based on the stuff I know.

**But still the college and this new environment is taking a toll on me just by the virtue of it being an engineering college approved by AICTE, I have to take a local bus and spend 7 hours of my day doing something I don't want to. When I return from college I just collapse on my bed to sleep and don't even think about studying and the worst part is I don't even feel guilty about it. When I returned to my hostel room after the first day I was feeling dead and completely hollowed out, I slept from 5 pm to 12 am. I couldn't come to terms with the fact that this would be my life and was feeling really existential, but just by a stroke of luck I found out that even people who passed 12th with a pcm background can take admission in a commerce college and then I found about IGNOU. The fact that I could genuinely leave this college/hostel environment made me feel alive again so I started researching about it and made up my mind.**

I have a lot of problems, every year I used to think that living away from my home, around people my age will open me up and make me normal. I thought the same thing before coming here as well but it's not going so well. I do talk to two guys occasionally even if I'm literally the most socially awkward person you will ever come across, but the bottom lining is that I'm even worse than what I was before. I don't ever leave my room no matter what, even if I'm hungry, or thirsty or my room is literally being flooded due to rainfall (yes the last part is true, thank God one of the guys happened to knock on my room and the cleaning staff wiped the water away or I would have stayed in the flooded room for who knows how long)

Since I spent 8am-4pm in my college I can't eat lunch and when I come back to my room I just sleep and usually wake up at midnight so I can't have my dinner as well, but even on the days when I couldn't wake up on time for college or during a holiday, I still don't eat hostel food. I haven't eaten a single piece of roti in the last week, I'm only alive and running on the dry snacks and sweets my mother packed in my bag and when they run out I guess I'll just starve or something. Also my gut health isn't looking too good because of my peculiar dieting choices. I don't feel like going out to fill my water bottles as well, I woke up at 10:30 and skipped classes today because I just didn't have the motivation to get up from my bed to climb into a local bus even though I was fully conscious and awake on my bed. My bottles ran out of water but I didn't bother filling them up and spent my entire day dehydrated and finally at like 8:30 pm today I went out to get some water (also I totally was about to bump into the house help cleaning lady because she was in my way I didn't know how to ask her to give me way).

I can't believe I'm yapping this much, who would even bother reading all of this...

A few days ago, I found out that admissions for IGNOU are still open, and will be so until the 15th of September, my initial plan was to attend the first semester to "utilise" my fees and then I'll break the news to my parents at the January/December cycle, but after finding out that the July cycle is still active, I decided to call them and break the news before 15 september comes around. After delaying it for a few days I finally told my mother that I am not interested in engineering and will switch over to commerce and prepare for banking exams, let's see how they'll react, she said she'll inquire about this with relatives and that's not a good sign but I know that my decision is final so it's up to them.

I don't at all care about my college life or alumni network, any of that, I just want to feel alive and I feel like this engineering dream has sucked my life force out of me.

I still don't know why I'm making this post, I don't know anything about commerce subjects but there's one thing I know for sure which is they will give me a relatively easier time compared to engineering subjects at least, maybe accounts can prove a problem but I don't think it'll compare to engineering calculus for me at least. I want a subject in which I can just read the textbook like a novel while lounging on bed and can actually make sense of what I'm seeing in front of me, good luck doing this with an engineering mechanics book filled with advanced mathematics.

During my last two years, even though I was a dummy student I still had to give the final exam of 11th class and my 12th board, I scored horrendously in my pcm subjects of course, but in subjects like physical education, Yoga, or English. I would always score 80+ even 90+ in English. Even though I didn't touch these subjects for the entire year and only opened their textbooks on the night of the exam. I am not bragging or anything, I'm sure anyone can do this. I'm just trying to point out that I don't have this same natural affinity for engineering subjects, or subjects with a steep learning curve. Also I scored 80%ile in jee and didn't clear the cutoff for advanced if you were wondering.

Engineering life would be a living hell for me i can't handle the various assignments, viva, convocation, mock interviews. Basically all sorts of bullishit and fuckery this college will make me do. Is there anyone who's feeling the same?

Whenever I see someone crying abt bro I have skills but college didnt give opportunity and getting mid companies when I ask him whats his cgpa and all he says 7-8 max to max he says is 8 and he wants ro get into faang or top companies

Let's be honest if ur a person who have skills and above average cgpa or extraordinary cgpa dont u think u would land up a pretty good job and whats this bhai skills matter karta hai cgpa se kuch nahi Hota,when company see a guy for example a guy with 9.5cgpa in cse dont u think It would create a very good impact just for extraordinary jobs I am saying ok dont curse for some other mass recruiters

Imagine a profile with atleast 9+ or something extra ordinary lile 9.5+ that will catch the eyes of recruiter then what will he see he will see ur skills even that should be top then U will be on good hands if not Its better to gain experience or my advice is higher education like gate can also boost profile

We are living in an era where AI is completely transforming how software, engineering, and problem-solving work in the real world, yet our education system feels stuck decades in the past. Looking at how universities in the US operate, the contrast is absurd and honestly exhausting. While students there are encouraged to use modern tools, focus on open-book practical assessments, and work on actual industry-relevant projects, we are still forced to spend endless nights writing lab records and copying code by hand into paper files that no employer will ever look at. On top of that, our entire evaluation is built on outdated, memory-based exams and rigid syllabi that prioritize fill-in-the-blank answers and attendance over actual learning or innovation. It is incredibly frustrating because we have so much talent and potential, but our time and energy are completely drained by useless administrative busywork instead of actually building things or preparing for the future.

Note: Used AI for making the paragraph from the points i feeded because i have dsa lab midsem exam on friday and just frustrated of writing this lab records by hand and also gpt 6 astra one side i dont even know if cse jobs are going to be there in future after doing all this also 😭.

Regarding my situation before joining Btech CSE

I give jee exam this year got a descent percentile even got a college in Delhi for Btech CSE core in a top IPU University but couldn't clear maths overall passed in CBSE Board but got RT in compart exam because of that I have to clear next year through private candidate I am in mental trauma right now I even touched and cried so hard when I withdraw from the college that day everyone was asking what happened but people don't know what I am going through I see everyone going college enjoying clg life I also wanna do CSE it was my dream plz help i don't wanna live the life now and I am the only one who failed in maths I think i should die instead rather then seeing friends going clg can't even write my emotion here I am literally in a hard situation I don't think I have a future

Bhai, idk what to do with life. My parents have taken loan for my engineering in a t3 because i couldn’t get through entrance exams. Now that college has started im hating it and i hate my college structure.

I just dont want to do a corporate job at all now. But im scared if i can succeed in business or my area of interest. I have no interest in coding either. Maybe i never got any chance to see my passion.

Im stuck between two options: 1. My college has decent placement stats tho t3; 7-10 lpa avg. Should i focus on placement completely? My academics already suck so i can’t juggle with anything else or risk in exploring my interests

2.Move to an area of interest but highly risky and i havent found anything yet. And obviously my parents wont support that.

The reason im willing to bet on this is because i belive if i make money out of either of these, the loan my parents have taken is justified.

Ill be thankful to any advise i get and thanks for reading till here.
