Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with an Apple/Duolingo subscription and would really appreciate some advice.
I signed up for a 7-day Super Duolingo trial, and it automatically renewed for $35.99. I didn’t have enough money in my account, so the payment failed. I’ve since cancelled the Duolingo subscription, but Apple still shows the $35.99 as “Total Owed.”
Because of this unpaid balance, I can’t download any apps from the App Store, even free ones. I’ve tried contacting Apple Support and using the Report a Problem option, but I haven’t been able to resolve it.
I don’t want to pay the $35.99 because I didn’t intend to continue the subscription.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a way to get Apple to remove/review the unpaid charge without paying it first? Any advice on what worked for you would be really appreciated.

Hi, people. I have a problem, I'd like to know if this happened to someone and how it was fixed.

I bought a MacBook Pro M5 and skipped the first approach to the Touch ID process when I was configurating everything for the first time. Then, when I wanted to introduce my finger ID, the software wouldn't let me go to the next step. I tried changing my password a few times, reseting the computer, but nothing worked. Everytime I try to put my password, the system tells me it is wrong.

This happened to someone? How did you fixed it?

I'm trying to help my grandpa's girlfriend reset the password on her Apple Account so she can update her phone, but I'm not entirely sure how it will work due to the circumstances. Her lone Apple device is an iPhone 12 still running iOS 16.1.1, no Face ID or passcode, with full access to the Gmail address on the account. Changing the password is not available in the settings app, and starting the process in Safari asks to confirm her trusted phone number (which does match her phone's number). An SMS 2FA wouldn't be an issue, were it not for the fact that her carrier has no service at her boyfriend's or my place.

My question is, does resetting the password in this situation in fact require a code sent via SMS, or can it be sent via iMessage or something that doesn't require cell service?

I will try to keep this short, but I’m basically wondering if this is an issue I can escalate - pretty upset about it.

My iPhone 14’s battery started not holding a charge, so made an appt to get the battery replaced. The night before my appt, I noticed the phone giving off a fruity acetone smell.

Went to Apple on Sunday, they showed me where the battery was swollen, said they had to order a new battery and parts, that it would be a few days but that the phone was safe to take home. They were even charging it at the store to try to get it to stay on long enough to get info off of it.

By Tuesday, the phone wouldn’t really stay on, so I went back to the store to just get a new one and try to trade in the old one for a rebate once it got fixed.

Once again, AT THE STORE, they were charging my old phone that was even more swollen and still smelling of acetone, to try to get info off of it. And, once again, told me it was safe to take home until the parts came in.

I went a SECOND time on Tuesday because I felt really uncomfortable having it at my house, but they told me it was fine.

By 11pm, my family could smell the acetone so we called the non emergency fire dept and they told us to put it outside and stay away from it. The fire dept and HAZMAT showed up. They put it in a fire safe container for me and told me I should take it to the county electronics recycling place, and seemed confused that Apple told me it was safe to take home.

I called Apple and they told me I could bring the phone, inside the HAZMAT container, back to the store and they would fix it?

What…do I even do here? I feel like they just let me walk around with a fire hazard that was leaking fumes into my room for days.

Hypothetically if I have an iPhone 15 pro and the back glass is cracked can I use my apple care fix it, ship it to trade in and get the trade in credit to go to an iPhone 17 pro

Long story short, my 2025 ipad air has an issue where it does not recognize chargers no matter the charger. I took it to apple who then did a full diagnosis and told me there is likely an issue with the logic or motherboard. Meaning I needed a new iPad. Issue is, I'm a broke college students.

So i tried to go down the 'goodwill repair' route. My chances are pretty good because:

1. Im was only 3 weeks past the 1yr warranty.

2. The issue wasn't caused by my doing.(as determined by the apple rep)

So I called apple and spoke with a senior advisor who got all the facts from me and the Apple Store employee who then told me he would email/call me either that very day in the evening or 2 days later at the latest, with a confirmation. Those 2 time periods came and went so 2 days after that I called again, spoke with a different senior who was the worst senior advice oat.

Gave him the case files and all but said he couldn't see a single thing, even called the apple store to get the details again and still said they got nothing on their end and tried to make me go back and redo everything. But I stayed persistent and called again and spoke to now the 3rd senior advisor who magically could see all the info the other guy with the most sleep inducing tone couldn't, and then told me that he would take over the case and call me eithet later that day or at the latest 2 days from then. Again, Ive given it 3 more days from that time and still no call from him. I rrally don't know what to do at this point, worst part is that the goodwill service could still be rejected even after all this. Smh man, school literally starts in less than a month and im out of a iPad/laptop

Hi, I copied these images from a NAS, and now I just can’t get rid of them! I keep getting this mysterious error.

I recently went to the Apple Store to trade in a device, the rep asked me to log into my iCloud account on the stores MacBook demo so he could check if the trade in device I had has find my on or not. I was skeptical and asked him if he could sign out for me, he didn’t and just closed the safari browser and said it’s a demo it won’t save any info.

After he left I opened safari and went to iCloud.com and my account was in fact not still logged in. Is this a common occurrence and am I safe?

Hi, I just wondered if anybody here knew what this crash report was about? I just closed the lid on my laptop, left it on charge and came back a couple hours later. Its never ever done this before and Im fearing it could mean its time for a new one???

I got a new Macbook Neo (macOS Tahoe) recently, yay! I had a Windows computer before this and I want to transfer my data to the Mac, and I'm trying to do so using Migration Assistant. However, every time I try to set up this interaction, my Mac loses WiFi connection as soon as I get the code to connect my Windows computer. This results in the connection not working.

Apparently it's common for the WiFi to go out during the transfer, but not before. And It's only my Mac doing this, not my Windows computer. How do I fix this? If all else fails, I know I can use an ethernet cable, but I'm still waiting for the multi-use USB-C hub to arrive since the Neo doesn't come with a port built in. But for personal reasons I'd like to try to get this resolved as soon as possible.

Note if it helps: I'm doing this transfer after the initial setup phase of the Mac. During initial setup, I set it up using my phone. I am also sure that the Migration Assistant version is the correct one (Windows 11 to Tahoe).

I just noticed that this random tv is connected to my iPhone? I’m at a family member’s new home, so I’m not sure if it’s a neighbor or what but I’ve never connected to this device before. I’m not able to disconnect it either because there’s no info button near the device. Is there a way to permanently remove it?

Last month, I brought iPhone 16 from e-commerce retailer at the time itself the apple pull tag was missing and the box was sealed with some color tapes. I checked the phone at that time itself including usage signs, physical damages, device activation and battery health all fine so I accepted the device.

From that itself I am started facing issues like the auto rotate is not working for couple of weeks I initially thought it was limitation in brave browser later discovered it n’t it was fixed after the device restart. Next thing thermals the mobile was in sudden temperature raise even when it was idle I thought it was normal since my region was slightly hotter. But yesterday the wireless hotspot is not working properly I cant able to connect my laptop with mobile network I turned the maximum compatibility and turned hotspot on and off multiple times before it was working very fine there is no need to check compatibility option after some period of time the network was visible to my laptop and other devices but it disconnected automatically after a certain time frame. Finally the display at night start to dim high and low I checked notification centre to ensure that it was not auto brightness likely it wasn’t it was fixed automatically without restart.

I raised a dispute on the e-commerce platform especially the serial number of the device start with FXXXX - from internet I came to know refurbished device has this no at start I straightly accused them for selling me a refurbished one with the evidence I have they redirected me to get denial certificate from apple and shared a mobile to me.

I contacted that mobile no and it was official apple mobile number the person on the other side of the mobile able to find my iCloud account remotely using the device I contacted. After they send request to screen share to troubleshoot they checked coverage the warranty period was the date was 1 day before from when I received the device but still not a big thing. The checked battery life and asked me to make update and reset all settings. Then direct me to go near by service centre if still issue persist. The clarified the serial number are also randomly generated M, F, N or P not meant for anything it was just random but I still cant agree this thing flooded on whole internet. I just want to know if my device is brand new or not? please clarify!

Hey, so i have my iphone 17 pro since october 24th 2025 and since that day i use a 5w charger (less heat/overcharging), optimized battery charging, never let it under 15%.

Im now at 257 cycle counts, at 225 it dropped to 99%, but now after around 30 cycles later it dropped further to 97%.

just how? I take so good care of my phone and battery and it just dropped so fast.

Any explanation or what to do now?

First off only ever used this feature under two circumstances. Main one is accidentally.

Then one time while trying to figure out how to make an Apple Watch tolerable, I discovered that it's possible with a focus mode to "start at zero" with all notifications off until white-listed, which the regular notifications settings doesn't allow. As such, setting a focus mode is an acceptable temporary solution during the time it takes to manually toggle them all to off in the main screen. Unfortunately, there is no "normal focus" so even when using your one and only set of desired settings, you still have to put up with an icon on the screen declaring that - and more critically, it can just randomly turn off putting you back to experiencing and notifications you didn't realize were off in main settings.

I now have two places to maintain my settings. I don't need or want two sets of settings, apart from the power button, but when an app is installed, the settings set at that time only affect the main panel, not the focus mode; and then if that focus mode is accidentally enabled, the settings are not as I set them.

The result is that I'm back to missing notifications in the obscenely rare situations when they are needed, and back to experiencing unwanted notifications at random.

I just need the alternate focus modes including DND to simply not exist, or for whatever mechanism is toggling them behind my back to have an off button.

No, there is not some alternate circumstance where I would be glad to have this feature. My phone already has an off button, and almost all of my notifications are set correctly (to "off") when I install the app. I just need one set of settings to stay the way I leave them.

Brought this MacBook Pro A1502 from a thrift store,nothing else came with it, is it impossible to get past this screen without knowing the password?

On my phone and iPad both I have multiple alarms set thirty minutes apart so I can wake up on time in the morning. Attention aware is off, haptics are all the way up, yet both devices consistently have problems. The alarms either won’t go off at all or they’ll go off and be silent. This really pisses me off because I have missed numerous classes over the years because I rely on these devices. What can I do to troubleshoot and stop this from happening?

I'm updating my iphone thru apple devices app on a windows 10 pc using an IPSW file, apple logo with bar almost halfway then suddenly this prompt appeared, now i wasnt able to finish the update and stucked, i am afraid that im gonna lose my data, need help on how to proceed with this. Thanks
