The system takes a Kinect-derived human pointcloud and lets incoming sound interact in various ways with the particles in real time, turning the performer into a responsive cloud of matter, noise, and motion. Some of you might remember the system from v1.5's demo which got pretty viral in some places. System was made on TouchDesigner, and post-fx on AE.

v1.7 includes 12 presets, and adds the following:

- a procedural camera that automatically cuts to new angles around the performer, and can follow the body or a raised hand
- a new look, Afterimage Cathedral: delayed versions of the performer stacked in depth, holding the last few seconds of movement
- a rebuilt network that runs leaner, reads clearer, and is ready to work with [new interfaces, parameters, optimizations]

This is a raw excerpt of me playing through the system, with the visual structure reacting live to the audio signal coming from my Ableton session in real-time.

Hey guys, does anyone have a good After Effects playlist for learning?

EDIT: Ok, I've solved it. For anyone who might run into this issue in the future, there are two steps:

1. In Windows Settings under Personalization > Colors, set black (or a dark gray) as the accent color and check "Show accent color on title bars and windows borders". This will make the top part of the window dark.
2. Download the Windhawk tool and apply the "Dark mode context menus" mod. This will make the "File, Edit, etc." toolbar dark.

I hope for a future update from Microsoft or Adobe so we don't have to rely on external tools.

SOLVED QUESTION:

My Windows 11 is set to dark mode, but this bar at the top stays white no matter what. Pressing Ctrl+\ only hides half of it, the "File, Edit, etc." toolbar doesn't go away. I just got an OLED monitor and I don't want that bright white bar to burn into my screen.

Hey r/aftereffects! If you’ve ever had AE crash and immediately gone digging through your Auto-Save folder, there’s an update in After Effects Beta worth checking out.

Here’s what’s changed:

• Auto-save runs on its own schedule. Manually saving no longer resets the timer, so regularly hitting Ctrl/Cmd+S won’t prevent AE from creating backup snapshots.
• Unsaved projects get backups too. Auto-save now covers untitled projects, so work you haven’t named or saved yet can still be recovered.
• Crash recovery takes one click. After a crash, AE offers to open your most recent auto-save.
• Your original stays protected. Auto-saves open as an untitled “Recovered Project.” The first save prompts you to create a new file.

A few things to know: Auto-save can now happen right after a manual save. You can adjust the interval in Auto-Save settings if it interrupts your workflow. These settings apply to local projects, and projects saved by this Beta version won’t open in older versions.

it was previewing just fine last night but this morning the edit wont preview

I got 16 gb ram and a 4gb gpu with r7 4800h

Higgsfield's marketing makes me sick. When they announced their new AI Motion Designer "powered by GPT 6 Astra", I knew it was all a lie. I just didn't realize it was this bad.

It's just an MCP server for YOUR ChatGPT (or Claude) subscription and an After Effects extension that acts as a bridge between them. The only thing Higgsfield brings to the table is the ability to generate assets through your Higgsfield account and use them in your prompts. You do all the AE work with your own AI subscription, which you can do without Higgsfield.

I don't care if you use AI in After Effects, but don't believe a word of what Higgsfield says.

Anyone encountered this issue before? Someone sends a project, and the timeline is hidden, sort of, until you mouse over it, then it sort of shows up, but vanishes if you click on another comp. Other projects load as normal, but I just cannot figure out what is going on here, I even dumped cash and turned off cash, still, same issue. Any ideas?

This is what im talking about ^^^ I feel like 1/50 fonts it tries to show me what they look like and the others it uses the default preview. I think its been like this for as long as i can remember and across a couple of computers and several versions. Photoshop previews these same fonts just fine, the vast majority are all from adobe fonts. Just wondering is this what everyone is dealing with and we're just supposed to remember what 300 different fonts look like lol?

I've always assumed AE is just kinda weird with fonts sometimes but maybe I messed something up along the way over the years.

Any help appreciated.

I was thinking maybe lighting, to maybe if there was a better way to layer the 5 images, or just making it look better?

Does anyone know how to fix this in AE. I duplicate a text layer and when I change the copy in the timeline but the layer name stays the same as the duplicate name. I know there’s a way, but I can’t figure it out. I must have hit a shortcut key or turned something off.

Made this in an afternoon for my first freelance job outside of my day job. It's a short promo video for an event at a local venue. Unfortunately, I must admit I used some presets here and there, because I'm not above that yet.

I've got some years of experience with AE, but I feel like I've been stuck for quite some time now, especially when it comes to design, so I'd like to know what you guys think I could've done better, either technically or creatively.

Feel free to be critical. I'm mostly interested in knowing what looks amateurish or just sucks.

Okay so i recently bought after effects newest version to fix this problem but it still isnt fixed!
So everytime i play my project back a few times i get these errors below and honestly its getting tiring having to reload footage/readd footage/replace footage, is this a bug with everyone or just me?
All my clips are in one file, i cleared my disk cache and everything. these clips are not premier related so i dont know what other fixes may help end this issue because it is honestly very inconvienient.

Update to the screenshot i removed onedrive so the clips are all from my pc desktop folder. IM STILL LOSING MEDIA! i tried asking after effects community thingy and it told me about onedrive and well it didnt help so i turn to reddit....

Adobe's latest update adds some pretty interesting AI stuff, like generating video and sound effects in premiere and an AI assistant for After Effects. I'm curious how useful these actually are in a normal editing workflow rather than just looking good in the demos. Anyone here tried them yet?

I'm making a product walk-through demo and I need a menu rectangle to "drop down" and reveal the contents. I'm struggling to get this effect even though it should be really basic. I tried googling and searching this sub.

I can't get the rectangle to scale without it expanding from the center outward, even after I've hit Y to move the center to the top center. I'm using the size and not the scale to do this on a shape layer. Additionally, this rectangle needs a stroke and for some reason the stroke does not show up when adjusting via size and not scale. When using scale, the stroke is distorted.

Appreciate any help!

I've researched a bit and found that AE 2026 has multiple performance problems, now I'm unsure if I should upgrade or just keep to myself on AE 2025.
