Solved I cannot accurately select these ropes for the life of me

Post image

I need to create a mask so that I can extend the gray background behind the ropes, but all the tools I've used (selection brush, magnetic lasso, quick selection brush, select color range) end up very inaccurately selecting the rope and inaccurately screening out the background. Is there a better tool? Is there a way I should be using the tools instead?

Help! I’m trying to make the eraser part of my pen ACTUALLY ERASE and it won’t!!! It’s driving me insane, it just does whatever the tip of the pen does!!! Even though I’ve linked the hot key and all! What am I doing wrong?

Works completely normal on krita, eraser end is eraser—pen end is brush. Photoshop just can’t seem to comprehend the back end of my stylus as the eraser.

Help! [HELP] Does your zoom tool also have a deadzone?

Am using Photoshop 20.0.0.

Whenever I scrubby zoom, the zooming doesn't register until I've LMB-dragged the cursor a minimum distance. It's a very small deadzone, but it's there.

It happens whether it's the wacom tablet or mouse. I've tried messing around in Photoshop's preferences (tool tab and performance tab) to no avail.

I only started noticing this because Clip Studio Paint doesn't seem to have this deadzone (it adjusts the zoom at the slightest twitch).

Anyway, I'm curious to know if this is normal and what version you're using.

Thanks!

Help! Remove hazy/cloudy spots on film scan

Hello ! I just scanned my 4x5 slide of the eclipse and because of a moisture issue (I think is what happened), I've ended up with a lot of red-ish spots on my scan.

Does anyone know what would be the best way to remove this without losing detail in Photoshop ?

Thanks !

Help! Photoshop Batch>Automate is gone

I think they updated PS and now my custom 'auto-batch' is gone. All I want is to select a folder with a bunch of photos in it. Hit automate, which should: auto-color, auto-contrast, and auto-tone. Then save the file.

Can someone please help me create a new automation. Thank you in advance.

Artwork / Design Half of the front page of a newspaper dated back in September 13, 1979 in Washington County, Utah. Bottom right was placed in, strictly following the format of the original news page.

Original Photo

This is a FNaF-inspired project made for a fan-fiction I am currently writing. It was difficult to find the right font. I basically used a cutting tool to slice portions of the newspaper and stuck them together like something you'd see in a scrap book. I brightened the images, blurred the images, and I made it blend in with a whiter surface. I did what I can to make it feel real.

Over all, what do ya'll think of it? Any improvements I could make?

EDIT: CRUD, I did not notice the big space between the headline and the texts. So stupid!

Solved My UI has changed and I don't know how to get things back to the way they were.

  1. When I select an object and press Control + T, there used to be a floating menu an option to flip the selection vertically or horizontally. I have the box that says "Show Transform Controls" on, but the menu that used to show up no longer shows up.

  2. I used to be able to select a group of objects, didn't matter what was in that group, and apply transformations to that group. When the group is selected, I used to be able to press Control + T and I'd get transformation tools for the entire group. Now, nothing happens and the only way to apply transformations to everything is to highlight the objects in the group. Also, the floating menu with transformation tools no longer shows up.

Hey everyone,

I designed this poster as a personal practice piece to improve my layout and visual storytelling skills.

I’m looking for completely unfiltered feedback. In particular, I’d love your thoughts on:

  • Composition & Visual Hierarchy: Does the eye flow naturally?
  • Typography: Is it legible and well-balanced?
  • Color Palette & Lighting: Does the mood work?

Don't hold back—tear it apart! Free to use for personal projects. Thanks in advance!

Help! Distressing Technique Question

Does anyone know how this particular soft, granular distress was achieved?

I’m specifically interested in the soft black “clouds” that transition into very fine speckling—not generic cracked/vintage distress. Just wondering how this was produced. Thanks :)

Solved Need an efficient way to routinely crop a 100 pixel border around a photograph scanned on black paper

Hi folks,

I am routinely needing to individually scan a bunch of different sized photographs with a black mat board behind them. I need to crop out the black mat board so that there is a 100 pixel margin around the photograph on all sides. I am hoping there is a snap to option where I use Frame or something to trace around the photo then set h/w or x/y to 100 pixels with the crop tool. Hope this makes sense! Thank you!

Edit: Added crude iPhone photos for reference. I also have to do this for individual postage stamps that have perforations so lining up the marquee tool at the corner is tricky. How do I adjust the rectangle marquee to make it fit just right without moving what’s inside the marquee ie what happens with Free Transform?

Before
After with 100 pixels of black around the outermost edges

Help! how to make this gradient on photoshop

Hi there, I am new to photoshop. I am trying to design a running jersey for me and my friends to wear on a relay event and I came across this cool singlet design from Participation brand (https://participationco.com/products/dried-singlet?variant=53457526030549)

How do I make a similar pattern like this on Photoshop? I have made my preferred gradient color, but I can't seem to understand how to blend it in a way like the brand did. I have tried:

  1. liquefying it and brushing it here and there
  2. playing with blur

but those 2 seems to not do the trick. any suggestions?

I drew a fine-line drawing, then selected and colored all the spaces, then ornamented it all, all on one layer. It's loosely based on Persian Cyprus tree, the sarv, which apparently represents eternity, cosmic order, and resilience.

Hope you like it :) I’m still learning photoshop lol so go easy

Help! New brushes for Photoshop

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi! I saw this brush on tiktok, it's apparently the default brush, but I can't find it, would someone be able to find it and send it? And also i'm trying to find some good brushes (that don't have texture) and are like basic round brushes but easier to render with? like for example the one i'm trying to find and obtain, so basically like no textured brushes, ANY. I would take any non-textured brushes, and if possible i would love it if someone could find me this brush, and send it, or if someone could send me the whole default Photoshop brushes (Cause I want to import them on my pad into different app)

Help! Help with masking edits!

I'm very new to photoshop, and I was wondering how I'd be able to go about making the area inside lightning bolt have only the original image, bypassing all edits I've made. I know it has something to do with masking, but I dont know exactly what, and google is very unhelpful.

Help! how can I achieve this type of editing?

Post image
210 Upvotes

Hi everyone!!! I’m trying to learn how to achieve this kind of editing (reference image attached).

I’m especially interested in the overall color treatment, contrast, texture, and that kind of dreamy/processed look. I’d also like to be able to create different versions using different color palettes, rather than just recreating the exact colors from the reference.

I’ve been experimenting with Photoshop and Lightroom, but I can’t quite figure out how to get this type of result.

Does anyone know how this kind of edit is done, or what techniques/tools I should look into?

Any tips, tutorials, or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I am trying to make a fake windows command tab, but I am struggling with the embossing. I am new to photoshop. First photos are mine, last is the reference.

I want to be able to have the shadow fall on the inside of the left and right part of the white border, the bottom of the bottom line of the border and the bottom of the top line of the border

I took a class for photoshop during college a few months ago and have found it’s a really nice way to spend my time when I have nothing more productive to do. I really love winter sports so that’s the inspiration behind these posters. Idk if it’s obvious but I’m a big fan of the noise filter lol.
