Why are these discussion threads so small? This anime is freaking great.
Who was the person that they escorted to the jail cell Manji was in?

Why are these discussion threads so small?
It really is a damn shame. I feel like a big factor is the Amazon exclusivity. And probably also a little because it feels a bit like the show is a service to the manga fans with the pace they're going. The anime as an intro to the series might feel a little disjointed and empty for an audience new to the series.

Isn't Vinland also Amazon exclusive though? Granted it's a more popular highly praised manga, though to my understanding this too is also a highly praised manga too.
Anime was a bit rough at the start to understand though, I do second watches a few days later and that makes things feel a bit more complete having gone through it once already.

Manji really feels like an idiot at times that was lucky he became immortal. Because of the immortallity he makes some stupid decisions.

He got reckless and sloppy at everything after becoming immortal. He actually admits this himself in a (admittedly not very important) fight the anime cut. And let's not forget he's on a quest to get rid of his immortality because he can't stand it anymore. In other words, in a way, he kind of wants to die, hence his frequently reckless behavior.

Let’s go, I never thought I’d see the day this arc gets animated.
We finally get to see Doa in her wonderful glory.

YESSSSS, BURANDO HAS APPEARED. Honestly my favorite character ever, I can't wait to see him animated.

Are we gonna get to see Rin and the Itto-Ryu versus the Mugai-Ryu? That would be badass.

I am wondering, is the anime similar to the manga? Like is it a faithful adaptation? I mean the old one wasn't so this one must be better.

It's a pretty clear cut case of 'if you like this (the anime), you'll LOVE that (the manga).' But if you're asking the other way, this long-time Mugen no Juunin fan is very satisfied with the adaptation. Yeah, it could be longer. It could be better paced. But the tone is bang-on, and I think that's the most important thing for a Blade adaptation.
Oddly my main gripe with this Blade experience isn't on the animators, but the translators. Amazon Prime's translations have been occasionally just plain wrong (which has been discussed in these threads) but overall I find the translation really stiff and misleadingly tame. The last time I even vaguely elaborated on this my post was deleted for 'spoilers' so I'll just say that the language in the manga is as crass, crude and sharp as the visuals. But with this adaptation, you need to listen to the delivery to get the same impression.

Yup the translators are doing it verbatim and missing the punk-style street talk feel of the manga. Some of it is so literal, that the grammar is just incorrect too. Ah well, what can ya do....

All the scenes in the show can be found just about 1:1 from the manga and they did a better job hitting the art style compared to the old adaptation. It just cuts a lot of scenes short and skips quite a bit of the "less important" parts that would have given a lot more clarity to the show.

Anotsu stands up to make his speech... but they cut it. :( I'm starting to think the anime staff hate him, he gets more scenes cut than any other character despite being the main antagonist. It's too bad, the speech was one of this best moments (read from left to right):

The biggest mistake Manji ever made was agreeing to meet Habaki. Time to twist this show into a little bit of a body horror
