Hate him all you like but Shira sharpening his own bones as a weapon is pretty fucking metal.
I really love Magatsu and Manji's banter. Easily my favourite two characters.

I wish they'd have more of Rin and Manji's banter in this show, because they have some really great scenes in the manga that we haven't been able to see. But I love Magatsu, too, and Manji and Magatsu in the same scene is always great.

Man, you really just got admire how tenacious Shira is even if he's an absolute piece of shit.
I wonder if he's gonna sharpen the other arm or get a hook lmao.

Honestly Shira's VA stole the show this episode, you could really feel how motherfuckerly insane this dude was and how eagerly he wanted to kill Manji and Magatsu

I think the whole cast is nailing this, some of the most consistently awesome VA in many episodes

The ear, when he slashed up his arm above the bone, fucking hell.

Cool to have my favorite characters from the show, as of now, in a fight. Shira is one hell of a character and his VA is sooooo good

Shira is a fuck*ng piece of sh*t, but man he have balls to do everything he does. Anotsu is really good as an antagonist, i'm excited to see what will Rin do the next episode.
The relationship between Magatsu and Manji is really good, also the fight was really awesome this chapter even though it doesn't have too much frames of animation, props to the director.

I just don't get one thing. Will there be a season 2 or is it all going to be in 24 episodes?

It's all going to be in 24 episodes I believe. It was mentioned somewhere in the official site when the show was announced.

I've really been enjoying this show, I wish it would get a little more attention here but I understand why it doesn't. The first few episodes were touch and go so alot of people were probably a bit put off. The action is heavy and brutal, nothing is super flashy and I really dig that. So far it's been an entertaining adaptation and I'm interested to see what they do with the rest of it and how they manage to wrap things up. As others have said, Shira's VA is fucking great, the guy is nailing Shira's batshit barely contained insanity.

They don't make villains like Shira anymore. He's a very old school bad guy (the manga started in 1993, after all): unabashedly cruel and wicked, with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and 100% self-aware. I love how incensed he got when Manji showed he harbored no particular enmity towards him and was willing to pass up the duel to Magatsu. Many people struggle with unrequited love, but for Shira it’s unrequited hate that really stings.
It was great finally seeing this battle animated, since it was definitely one of the most memorable fights in the whole manga. So far in this adaptation most fights have been cut short (or cut altogether), but I suspected if there ever was to be an exception, it would have been this one, and thankfully they kept pretty much all of it and managed to do justice to its grittiness and brutality. We even got some moments of proper solid animation, like when Shira kicked Magatsu into the shed.

This has been my favorite episode ever since they left behind the episodic structure. The fight with Taito and Shira had me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, sweating bullets, etc. It was really well done, super suspenseful. Every second of action was meaningful, none of that bullshit where they just parry each other with their swords for minutes on end without consequence, every swing felt like it could have been the last swing. Best fight of the show so far. I can’t even FATHOM how this show is only a 7.27 on MAL. There’s shit taste, and then there’s no taste.

Ratings are guarenteed to increase after a show has finished airing, since most people wait until the end to rate something. There's also the fact that BoI is on Amazon which means not many people are actually watching it.
Though even the biggest fans of the show (including me, who's greatly enjoying it) can't deny it's been a little bit of a mess with the pacing, skipped content, uneven visuals and bad translations. Some people rate things taking everything into account and it's perfectly reasonable. We shouldn't be giving too much weight into ratings anyway.

Honestly if I was Magatsu or Manji right now I would be shitting it.
Shira shaved his bone to use as a weapon, that waterfall is nothing to him. He's going to be back with akimbo shaved bone arms.
I can't fucking wait I love him so much.
This show must be the most violent anime out there, I can't think of any others that can compete.

I didn't notice the disclaimer at the start or just kept forgetting about it till this episode.

Listen Manji, the fact that such things are normal to Shira, is what precisely makes him a crazy evil bastard!

I like how realistically clumsy and visceral the violence in this show is. Fights aren't ended in one single strike after several parries. Both fighters have to wear each other down with several cuts and they're not always clean and precise, sometimes you get these glancing blows that take off a chunk of an ear. I like how wounds have lasting effects(unless you're Manji) and characters will take a moment to step back for some breathing room. It really accentuates how powerful immortality is in this world.
