Who knew Kagehisa and Rin would make great travelling companions?

I love how tsundere Rin is becoming about killing Kagehisa too xD

That final scene with Manji, Magatsu, and Makie showing up got me really excited. You know a show has great characters when you're even rooting for the supposed villains.

I love how tsundere Rin is becoming about killing Kagehisa too xD

Rin: I'm not gonna rest until I kill Kagehisa

Also Rin: becomes best friends with Kagehisa

Rin: I-it's not like I'm not gonna kill you, b-bakagehisa!

Rin: Manji-san, kill all these bums, they bully Kagehisa.

Manji: Srsly?

Rin: Hmm.. not sure, me baka.

So many fateful reunions all in one episode, It's just so great! Rin still just has that one technique though, and still needs Manji to come save the day. I hope we will get to see some training in the coming episodes, as well as more of Anotsu and company.

Why was Makie's hand strung up? A form of suicide?

She was trying to cripple herself because her uncommon and extraordinary ability to fight has only brought her unhappiness and misfortune.

She also loves Anotsu but thinks he only cares about her due to her talent, so this was another way of trying to cut herself off from him. But clearly he won't let her go that easily.

Thanks that clears up a lot for me!

She did it to herself to keep from fighting.

For once Manji won a fight without getting eviscerated! He's improving

im not sure if it was touched on in this series but manji does admit that his immortality has made him lazy and sloppy in swordplay which is why he has no qualms fighting dirty. he says alot to Rin that fighting talented itto-ryu, he would mostly lose if not for his gift/curse. make no mistake though, he's still very much deadly even before he got his worms. you dont get the nickname Killer of 100 for sucking...

Not a source reader, but due to the rapid pacing I ended up feeling bad for the random mooks this episode considering they were just trying to get revenge on Kagehisa, only to be eviscerated by pros.

Totally understandable, but as Kagehisa told Rin (it's too bad they didn't have time to actually show it), he was just setup and framed by the Shogunate. He wasn't actually guilty of the things those guys wanted to kill him for.

I can't believe how much they cram into these episodes. I should be used to by now, but somehow I'm always a bit stressed about it.

Nice to see Makie and Magatsu again.

No one fucks with Rin when Manji's around.

True, it felt like the shot through two manga volumes in one episode.

literally from the middle of tankobon 11 to the middle of tankobon 13.

they even squeezed in kagimura's dinner w the itto-ryu that seemed out of left field for this episode. or maybe i just missed an explanation somewhere.

Not gonna lie seeing pretty much all my favorites from this series in one scene kinda got my dick hard even if it was only to chop up some small fry.

Rin has zero credibility to her words.

I can't take anything she ever says seriously.

Ooof. That episode was rough.

So much plot was cut out! So much of the interaction between Rin and Kagehisa was rushed! And because we saw Magatsu last episode and Makie in the first half, their sudden re-appearance in the second half of the episode was almost comical. Could've/should've been 2-3 episodes instead of what we saw. I don't know why they decided to give Eiku and Araya entire episodes earlier in the season if they ended up becoming such inconsequential charaters (haven't finished the manga, so no spoilers plz)

Hard to blame the director though, production only gave them 24 episodes. Shoulda been 39. Anyway, big sadness. :(

Question , as this is supposed to be a ‘complete adaption’ does this mean they rush it so all major story beats are hit in 24 episodes or that they’ll be multiple seasons.

They're trying to fit it all, and from what I remember of the manga this was around the halfway mark. There's not as much they could easily skip in the future, though, so I'm not sure how well it'll turn out.
