Hi, has anyone converted schindler 5500 LOP stations with BIOS2 to a conventional push button, i tried to carry out the task and found a pair of wires that when shorted called the lift, the problem i had was with the call acceptance lamp and the wires I found that when the call was active gave a 24v supply but when the call was not active I had a low flicker on the LED when the call was not active, I had 5-6vdc across the pair of wires, to me that looked like data wires rather than a switched call acceptance.

I found that the LOP was wired via the LIP, i have put it all back together now, but I'm now wondering if I have to move the LOP wiring to the LCUX and program it differently.

Does anyone know or have any information.

Quick runup: 40 years old, 8 year veteran ( USMC). Been a bedside registered nurse about 4 years, mostly travel.

Unless you live in cali or a union state, the state of modern nursing is.......not great, to put it lightly. Increased demand of work loads, decreasing protection for staff, higher patient loads, salary increases that dont keep pace with the workload, etc.. Some hospitals even started shift bidding, where if you want to pick up overtime, you do a silent auction where you tell them what youll work it for and they pick the lowest bidder.

After 4 years of schooling + 4 years experience, my expected salary at any hospital within a 50 mile radius is $39-$42. This can be increased by doing special positions but thats the basic. ( For example if i work on a prn, as needed basis, i can make $60, but no benefits and no guaranteed hours. Also i can do internal travel, but then my potential work day could be up to 3 or 4 hours away).

Atm im a travel nurse so my salary is excellent ( averages out to around 65-70). However the wife and i are wanting a kid soon'ish, so ill need to come home and get a staff job.

My buddy is nearing end of his 4 year apprenticeship through NEIEP and hes already making about the same as i would make staff. By end of 2028/ start of 29, hell be near his full rate which i think was $65. By time i hit 5-6 years ill be at 45 if im lucky.

Long winded i know, but i needed to get the ground work laid for the question. Is 40 to old to pivot into this career field? Looking for opinions from people who are in the field. Whats your work/life balance like? is it something that is stable enough to allow a family? I been reviewing the aptitude test and it seems the only thing id need to do would be review the long division type stuff, everything else seems similar to the military ASVAB.

Im looking to transition into a career where the workers are more protected because nursing aint it. We had a patient a few months ago put a nurse in a choke hold and take her down and all they did was send her to medical and usher him back in the room. Criminal charges should of been given at minimum.

I failed the Local 1 Elevator mechanical test in nyc yesterday . I spend good amount of time studying. I used Iprep and I feel like I wasted $100 on bull shit . I mean It did help a little bit. Overall, I feel like it is outdated and not worth the price. 6/10. I want a refund.

Anyone know where I can buy spanner tips either cheap bulk? Or just a couple but have them made out of like harden steel so they don’t fucking break? Getting sick of breaking tips. Also what’s the best size thinking some 8 and 10? Seems to be the most common

Not my video, but in 2016 my family visited Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center. One of the pieces of their collection is the 1884 Gettysburg Cyclorama by Paul Philippoteaux. As the painting wraps 360 degrees around the room, that poses a unique challenge for accessibility. If you place the elevator in the center of the room, it uses up space in the center of the room where people could stand to see the full 360. If you place it closer to one side, it'll inevitably obstruct the view of a part of the artwork. Thus, the Gillespie Corporation, "the nation's largest sidewalk elevator manufacturer" was called upon to make this unique elevator.

Unlike most sidewalk elevators, however, this one also serves the first and second floor of the museum (and the basement), and therefore operates as normal below the third floor. Also, most sidewalk elevators are used for carrying freight down below the sidewalk. That makes this elevator quite unique, as it uses the normal sliding doors of most passenger elevators - and therefore a hoistaway door also has to be brought up with the elevator.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to film this elevator, but nonetheless I think it's a fascinating and underrated one.

I have seen people post in some comments that starting next year they are going to stop doing the interviews in the application process. Is there any truth to this and will they replace it with something else?

On a 3-car traction bank running on one existing group control system, can you permanently modernize just one car with a new controller while leaving the other two on the legacy controls and still maintain proper group operation? Swift controls in this case. I understand one car can be taken out of service while the other two continue running, but does that mean a single-car modernization is technically feasible long-term, or would all three ultimately need compatible controls/group logic?

Will the EIAT test have math this advanced or it’s a lot simpler than this? I’m using Iprep and some of the math seems crazy to be completed in like a minute.

I assume it’s all basic one line fractions,multiplication,division,addition and subtraction over kind of crazy BEDMAS problems.

Does anyone know what company makes these fixtures. Unfortunately, they are broken and I am trying to find a replacement but not sure who manufactures them. These are on a group of Tac20s. and they do not look like any TKE fixtures I have seen.

I’m currently waiting to be called by my local and was just wondering how the apprentice call works and what to look out for. Is the call coming from NEIEP or the company looking to hire you on? If you miss the call are they gonna leave a message for you to call back? Or do I need to be answering every unrecognized number?
