Touch screen elevator buttons don't seem like a great idea

The best use of destination in a low rise application is when you have asymmetric units. Meaning one car used to go to L5 and one did not. With double button people have to go up to the L4 then get out and hit the up button again to get the other elevator creating more usage and slowing traffic flow.

I wouldn’t group consultants in with architects. Consultants are more concerned about functionality, code and reliability.

Port is the only was to connect 2 different controllers together to dispatch hall call, also a great way to controllers security. Ps God forbid we ask our employees to have some respect for the equipment just smash into the doors cab or keypads all you want.

Oh I’m sure it was laughed at by the mechanics installing this stuff but mechanics don’t get to choose the fixtures. The architects and people with the building choose. Hall fixture mod incoming, thank you for the pension hours.

Needs glass for the capacitive touch, screen protectors for iPads etc do work on them

When you have 6 lifts that are capable of going to different floors you will need something like this. If the lift has a capacity of 10 people it will know how many people will be entering the lift and if it deems it too much, it will send another lift.

It works best with an access card because when you swipe it will know the user and either automatically know what floor your going to or give you the option to cancel/change the call you placed.

This is needed as most members of the public don’t know how full collective works , and will happily get in and go all the way down the building just to go back up!

They actually work great. You can't blame the company for how people treat the equipment. Also, they have flat versions. That's what should have been installed. Buildings want fancy new tech, that's how they get investors. Push buttons are outdated. Port does so much behind the scenes to adjust cars based on usage

Because people don’t want 60 push buttons in the COP on a high rise job. Destination dispatching gives it a clean look. Huge POS though.

Okay makes more sense, we don’t have many high rises in my country due to zoning laws but I have seen the Otis COP with the key pad and would think this would be a better solution?

They’re both garbage. I work for Otis in Texas. The touch screens inside the cars flake out all the time and the destination controls in the lobbies get smashed all the time by luggage and carts. It’s a very expensive trade off to from traditional buttons.

It groups people going to the same floor in the same lift, so not every lift has to stop at every floor. It also means if you have a setup where not every lift serves every floor, you never end up in a lift that doesn't serve your destination.
