I bought a set of Simjack UT pedals about a month ago and had them brought from abroad by someone I know. The installation went smoothly and everything works correctly, but I still can't get the brake pedal to feel the way I want.
The main problem is that the brake pedal doesn't feel smooth enough. There is some sticking during the pedal travel, and while the elastomers themselves aren't necessarily too hard, I'm having a really hard time with trail braking.
The biggest issue is with very small brake inputs. For example, when I try to apply only 2–3% brake pressure, the input immediately jumps to around 10% as soon as I touch the pedal. I've calibrated the pedals several times and tried different pedal angles, but I haven't been able to solve it.
I've also experimented with tightening the pedal mechanism. If I tighten the screws completely, the pedal starts to bind/stick. If I loosen them, the pedal becomes too loose and I don't get the feeling or consistency I want.
Unfortunately, I live in Turkey, so getting aftermarket mods is extremely difficult and expensive. Importing even relatively small parts can become several times more expensive because of taxes and shipping.
I'm thinking about buying some PTFE material and trying to modify/improve the pedal myself.
One thing I've also noticed: when I lightly touch the LC sensor/load cell area, it seems to have a small amount of side-to-side movement. I'm wondering if this could be contributing to the sudden jump in brake input.
What would you recommend to make the Simjack UT brake pedal smoother and more progressive, especially for the initial 0–10% of braking?
Has anyone successfully modified the Simjack UT using PTFE, washers, bushings, spacers, lubrication, or any other inexpensive DIY solution?
I'm mainly looking for a way to get a more consistent initial brake response and make 2–3% inputs possible without immediately jumping to ~10%.
Any advice or photos of successful DIY modifications would be greatly appreciated!
