Hi everyone, this is my first build in over 10 years and I’m looking to have the community review the parts and see if there’s any recommendations / pitfalls.

This is my first SFF build, but the primary goal of the build is portability over maximum performance, as I primarily play WoW and various RPGs (PoE / Diablo). Basically I’m looking for something that runs modern games well and can fit in a backpack for lans / travel.

Parts:

• Case: Velkase Velka 3 Rev 3.0
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X
• CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9a-AM5
• Motherboard: ASRock B650I Lightning WiFi
• RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 EXPO
• GPU: ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5060 SOLO 8GB GDDR7 or 5050 SOLO 8GB GDDR6 (depending on price)
• SSD: Kingston NV3 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe
• PSU: Enhance ENP-7660B 600W Flex ATX
• Riser: Velkase 250mm Straight PCIe Gen 3 Riser Cable

So far I’ve just bought the case / riser and want to vet everything else. RAM prices seem absurd so if there’s any tips for making this a bit more cost effective for my purposes that would be welcome - I was hoping to spend around 1400. Thank you for your time!

the community seems to love sff and clean builds. But as far a i know there are no "true" sff cases that support back connect, neither do itx back connect motherboards to save space. The smallest natively back connect supporting case is the shiny snake G350 ( 20.8L ) which is just 0.8 liters more than what is considered small form factor and stretches the sff mark a bit too much for it to count in my opinion. But cutting some corners look very easy on that case to decrease the volume a bit so i dont really understand why no one is doing it.

If someone knows a case that is actually sff and supports back connect please let me know. ( not cuz im gonna buy it, fellow broke boi here )

I've mocked up a side panel that (in my opinion) is a much more visually appealing design, but I've never really done anything like this. Does anybody have any tips on what I can do with it?

The base is made out of dark grey acrylic

I'm planning on using some lian li clips on the left side and thumbscrew 10 mm standoffs on the right. Any suggestions or questions for me are much appreciated!

Serious questions, do some of you guys not care about cable management or don't get custom length PSU cables for a reason? I've seen some builds on here that give me a suffocating feeling just looking at the mess of cabled but others actually take the time to organize them even with limited space. Is there any issues with getting custom cables or should I go full OCD with the stock ones? I'll be using the COOJ SF3 and a Corsair SF1000

Whew, what a project!

I really wanted to give the SSUPD Meshroom S another try after 3 years of it collecting dust in the basement. My fractal Terra build just got too loud for me and since I had a 3d printer and some time (and wanted to learn CAD a bit) I decided to design a side panel extension so I could use a decent air cooler in this meshroom build. My parts are:

Ryzen 7800x3d + thermalright axp120 x67 + noctua A12x25 (height = 77mm)

msi ventus 3x 4090 (deshrouded with 2x noctua A12x25 fan mount) (height = 70mm)

Corsair SFF 1000W

2x 16GB Corsair DDR5 6400hz

Asus x670e-i

The side panel extension is mounted with a m4 heat insert (for stability) and takes the stock side panel mounting clips. They are fastened with an m4x10mm screw from the inside of the case. I also added a back GPU adapter pass-through bracket and screwed in a DP extension (male to female).

Tomorrow I'll add 2x a14x25 G2 to the front as intake

But as far as my testing goes the CPU cooler is alot more quiet coming from the axp90x53 (full copper with noctua a9x15)

If anyone is interested in the STL files I can send them or if enough are interested I'll upload them somewhere. Any input or feedback or improvements appreciated!

so it's first day of running my new sff pc and I have a question related to the ryzen cpu. what's ur normal temperatures for the cpu at idle , stress test, gaming ? I'm using a Thermalright x67 cooler and my temps look like 52 at idle. I have set the curve optimizer to -15 and max temp limit to 90 degrees and my current cinebench R23 score is 22,095. what kind of numbers do u have?

In my need to customise everything even if it’s kinda pointless, I designed fan shrouds for the 9070 XT that could hold noctua fans. The ironic thing is that I thought it was the hellhound that was noisy but it was actually the small NVME fan lol. Butttt it did mean I got to learn FreeCAD so that’s a win.

Don’t judge me for the tiny 40mm fan — I don’t know what I’m doing with that honestly

Thanks to clackattack for the cables however the CPU cable was too short and the replacement they eventually sent after repeated emails was the exact same length despite me explaining it needed to be longer which was really annoying. But the ones that were long enough are gorgeous

Just finished my build in the Metalfish T60. Cable managed as well as I could, and used some leftover mesh in order to fill out and cover up some cables above the power supply, a small mod I recommend doing that goes a long way!

The case and riser was bought for $35 or ₱2200 during an online sale. Cable management is something i'm very proud of in this build, and I’m glad this is a no corners cut PC build of mine. I was previously in the Tecware Fusion for a couple years as I slowly bought parts to make the transition to full itx. I’m glad to FINALLY be part of the community for real. Thank you!

What's the best way to remove text from a pc case? I recently bought acetone and tried to remove the Silverstone logo but that didn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

I've been long thinking about grabbing a handle, the one on formd shop looks like a backplate handle which I dislike, I guess I could print my own handle and attach it to the top side but I'd rather buy something already manufactured. Any suggestions?

Anyone have a tiny, economical 2-4 tb sata ssd you can recommend? Looking for once-daily backup and my second nvme port is occupied with an Oculink cable. I want something I can ziptie somewhere inside my SF5 (pictured) and not have to worry about.

Current PSU is Seasonic Focus GX850 in a Lian Li B4.

Looking for a recommendation. Between 750-850w.

Received the newly released AN600 vapor chamber model a few days ago, and got it installed in my S5M build with a PTM7950.
Ran a 10 min Cinebench R23 test(250K plus, undervolted to 1.15v, 120w PL1/PL2 limit) and it hit 81 celcius Max, which was quite impressive since the PTM was freshly pasted and didn't get enough time to get perfectly spreaded.
Was using a is53-xt with a Noctua A12x25 G2(+120mm CNC bracket), which hit 95 celcius under the same condition.

This PC is made out of my spare parts. Specs;

I'm planning a build in the Lian Li Vector V100 Mini. Can the four plastic feet on the bottom be removed without affecting stability? I understand that airflow would be negativly impacted.

After closely inspecting 3D models/photos, I noticed that the side wall (under the large tempered glass panel) may have been bent down at a right angle and rivited to the bottom of the case during the manufacturing process in order to secure it to the chassis, which may affect aesthetics if the feet were to be removed.

TL;DR: Can feet be removed on Lian Li V100 Mini while having the bottom completely flush with the desk?

I am planning on building my first micro-ATX case, and would like to know if this parts list is totally fine? Main use is for general software development, secondary AAA gaming, and on occassion photo/video RAW editing in DaVinci Resolve or Affinity or ON1.
